Wall of words xD :I remember this topic was put up several months ago. And other users yelled at me the other time :/Just putting this out there for thought, not to support either side:There are 7 billion people on Earth right now. And that's a lot of people to feed. Some of those people are picky eaters. Some of those people eat a lot. And this is the fastest way for producers to get those people food...I remember there was this documentary on TV once about the farmers who raise these animals. They didn't have any choice on how to raise these animals. If they didn't raise it that way, the big companies that buy the animals from them would just stop buying from the farmers and the farmers would basically have no jobs and all that.Plus, how do we know that all animals bred for food are actually treated as in those videos? People do twist words & manipulate us to believe & think certain ideas. Not that it doesn't mean that they aren't being treated that way...@briseis ~ Oh mah goodness... The Jungle. D:I'm thankful about moving forward from that. I mean, really, rats & moldy food? *shudders*
mightyeglantine • 12 November 2011 at 3:12 PM
@PlushieI've been a vegetarian for about like Months visit my creature Vegetarian to learn why......
briseis • 12 November 2011 at 3:12 PM
@icymuffin thank you for making the points I wished to make. At least one person has the same mindset that I do 😊.
whitefall • 12 November 2011 at 3:22 PM
This is kind of random, but kind of ontopic...I realized that allll the water we drink used to be pee. o-o
isis • 12 November 2011 at 3:31 PM
@plushie Is there any blood/slaughter/something like that in the video? o_o Because then I don't dare to watch it...😋 😱
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 8:23 PM
I can't watch all of it. Not da piggies! Or the cows. I mean, the chickens, they don't have as many nerves (not that it still doesn't hurt) so they have a luckier life. I would hate to be born as an animal.
whitefall • 12 November 2011 at 8:24 PM
I'm not going to watch it if it has piggies in it. o-o
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 8:29 PM
@whitefall Skip the first part. The rest is okay, I had to skip the cows. The fish, are a bit better for me. Less brains to feel the death. But I think some farms that are mass (my local butcher/market is not mass) do these things, but this does not mean all animals have this fate. I think some smaller farms are very humane, and kind to their animals. Like Tyson, or school meat, I never eat it. It is mass and they totally treat their animals like this.

@Balletninja@WhitefallI found the piggies and cows the most sad D; I just wanna hug a cow now.. );You're probably doing yourself a favor not watching the piggies. It was so sad. *shutting up now*
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 8:31 PM
@dawnie I want to go vegan. But it is soooo hard! It is like impossible for me, my family is totally pro-meat. I just dunno what to do.
Deleted • 12 November 2011 at 8:34 PM
@Balletninja It's the same situation for me :x We have meat every day almost maybe one or two days a week we don't, that's it. V_V
dreamer • 12 November 2011 at 8:34 PM
Now come on you guys. These animals are killed for food, yes it can be cruel, but life isn't happy and rainbows and everyone and everything is treated kindly. These animals don't havetons of uses except for food. And wanting go never eat meat again just because these animals are abused seems kinda ridiculous. I wouldn't be willing to stop eating meat just to save one little chicken, or alf a cow. Even if *you* stop eating meat--Andthat's your own choice-- It won't really do anything to help, other people are still eating this meat, and animals won't cease to be killed if a few people sign against it.And even signing a few petitions doesn't help much, these farmers don't listen. These animals are raised and killed for food, and for selling and earning money, especially now.So I don't want you guys to think there's no hope, and I don't want you to think I'm telling you all off, I'm just saying the truth, these animals will *not* ever even be CLOSE to not being abused and killed for food, and farmers aren't gonna lose tons of money an their farms just because people think they shouldn't treat them harshly or kill them. Now you guys can disagree, you can get mad at me, you can point out every little detail about what I said. But seriously? I'm voicing my opinion, I don't care what you're gonna say against me. Food is food.

The farmers WANT us to eat it. Since we eat, They see no wrong. Today I had a taco, and it was disgusting. I can't even eat meat anymore without picturing some jerk stepping on a poor defenseless calf's neck. Rather it stops it or not , I'm NOT eating it anymore. Even, if I have.. To starve myself.Oh well. I looked starved when I lived with my dad, now it'sfor a good cause, i can deal.
icymuffin • 12 November 2011 at 8:52 PM
@dreamerThankies for putting it out like that & understanding~ :]And if farmers raised these animals in a humane way:1) animals would take much longer to be ready for the market2) taste much different & not as many people would find it appealing3) cost much more4) less would be soldCourse, this could be seen as good/bad thing, depending on which side you're on.
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 8:52 PM
@dreamer That is like saying child labor is okay. What if all these things were happening to domesticated pets?Or even humans? Fellow humans. We have stopped child labor, so we can stop this.
icymuffin • 12 November 2011 at 8:59 PM
@balletninjaBut it doesn't.And it isn't the same thing.Though it may sound cruel, these animals were bred for consumption. Some genetically designed to be like that as well. That's the fact & the cold truth. We humans can't go out and hunt for our food the same way as we did before, so this is what we have to do.
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 8:59 PM
@icymuffin Why can't we go out and hunt?
whitefall • 12 November 2011 at 9:00 PM
I wish everyone was innocent and nice. o^oWe could survive on grass or something... And dirt...-_-
icymuffin • 12 November 2011 at 9:04 PM
@balletninjaWe can, it's just not there are so many regulations, laws and such...Plus, how many of us would be willing to?Buy from the producers who already have meat ready for you or hunt/raise your own?(But I do know a kid in my class who's family raises cattle for milk/meat/to sell)And people would look at you and say you're an animal killer to go hunt, wouldn't they?Eh, the irony of this stuff :/
dreamer • 12 November 2011 at 9:06 PM
I never said *anything* about child labor, thank you very much. Child abuse and abuse of cows and chickens are entirely different things.Think about other animals too, domestic pets, like dogs and cats. These animals are built with sharp teeth and claws for killing other animals. It's the circle of life. As a matter of fact, most pet foods include meat that is killed the same way ours is. But most people don't stop their *pets* from eatign meat, they're built to eat meat, it would be abuse against domesticated pets to NOT let *them* eat this meat. It's the same reason humans have some canine teeth, for chewing and ripping meat. I also disagree strongly with the people on television channels who go crazy about the envirornment and are willing to give up most of their natural lifestyle just to save a few animals.Think about lions, and sharks, and other animals like those. They also survive by eating other animals, kiling them ,ripping them to shreds, and feeding on them. It's for food. For survival. And no one attacks those animals for it.Not eating meat or drinking milk is taking out lots of vitamins from a normal diet, and vegetables can't replace *all* of it. Some things in this world need to be done. And I sure as heck wouldn't stop drinking milk just because it comes from cows.
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 9:07 PM
@icymuffin But if you look at the facts, we have a surplus of food. The huge supply, millions of lives, gone wasted.
whitefall • 12 November 2011 at 9:08 PM
End of discussion~Conclusion:We waste things, but we have no other choice.
icymuffin • 12 November 2011 at 9:09 PM
@balletninja @whitefall"We" as in the people who are well off.Not the "we" who starve each night & can only worry about where their next meals will come from.
whitefall • 12 November 2011 at 9:10 PM
@icymuffinGah, yes. ^^
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 9:12 PM
@icymuffin Watch the video that made the world go silent for 5minutes. It is touching.
trish • 12 November 2011 at 9:25 PM
😱. :*( I visited a few farms before. :x Nothing as bad as that video.... I also thought animals got tags on their ends or ears. :x 1:47 seconds into this and I can't stand it. :I
plushie • 12 November 2011 at 9:31 PM
@Isis yes there is all of that! D:! Its so sad because they step on piglets!@Trish yeah I know. You wouldn't watch all of it.
balletninja • 12 November 2011 at 9:33 PM
Okay. I just watched earthlings. I WANNA JUMP OFF A CLIFF, THIS IS INSANE!
seastar43 • 12 November 2011 at 9:38 PM
Wow that was very disturbing and I only watched 40seconds of it before I turned it off. That is very sad how they treated the animals but to the people who want to become a vegetarian, sometimes you just can't become one because of your blood type, (meaning you need the protein) so make sure you replace your meat protein with a lot of other kind of protein.
celeste • 12 November 2011 at 9:40 PM
Well...I remembered feeling sorry for the animals when I watched it yesterday. Now, I've got to think about the video. What point of view is it meant to hold? Does it want us to stop eating meat, or protest against it? When people eat meat, I don't think they're supporting this act. I think humans are trying to survive. Many a creature as been killed for survival. As regarding to the cruelty and morals, I agree it is very cruel. But when people stop eating meat, does it actually make a difference? Farmers are most likely going to continue doing this anyway. Although there are probably millions of vegetarians in this world, they're probably killed the same, or even more, amount of animals they did 20 years ago! I don't understand why people want to starve themselves like this. It could actually be called deprivation of human rights. And has anyone actually thought about people in need? We're taking care of animals, yet there is still plenty of injustice in the human world. Who are we to decide that animals must be taken care of, even though there are humans being tortured. And I still believe there are kind farmers. When I saw @dreamer's post, I thought about it, and I think maybe...maybe.... You know...
