Thirteen years ago, Egg Cave was launched and released to the public! Nearly 8,000,000,000 views later (yes, 8 BILLION!), Egg Cave is going strong. To all of our lovely players—thank you for being a part of our community. It's a truly special day!
This year's birthday creature is the Pinyanda! You can find it in the Cave through the rest of this month. After that, it will go on sale in the Cash Shop for 200 CC during the month of August.

We're proud to introduce a major site improvement—the Items Database. This is located under the Explore tab underneath the Archives link. Note that 0-circulation items (i.e. very new items that have not yet been obtained) do not appear here until the first user obtains that item. Items must be in circulation to be seen and found at the Items Database.
Our favorite feature is the Travel Try On feature that allows you find any Travel or trinket and browse through any species and stage combination for that Travel. Try it!

@ian I have been trying to set up Google Voice for the past hour but I am getting tons of errors and I can't get it to work ☹️ this is very frustrating.

Google Voice says " Something went wrong We had a problem with this. Please try again." when I try to pick a number. TextNow doesn't let you get past the initial register page, you put in your information and click the button and then it just gives you the same page again.
TextFree requires you to complete a Captcha but the image doesn't even show up so it's impossible.

Did a quick search. I know GV made a lot of (BAD) changes earlier this year, but there are a lot of problems being reported this month. (Pretty much the servers have been down for a LOT of users. Long-time users.)

...and I'm happy to report Setting up The Google Voice account and verification went smoothly for me. Took less than the 15 minutes between these two messages. (Now hopefully it'll be less complicated if I don't have a cell phone for a few months.)

Thank you for the so-called 'free' gift but I have no cell phone and I refuse to sign up with any google service just to get a verification code for an account I have had for five years! So sadly I must decline this 'generous' offer. This sounds a bit like data mining so..nope.

I'll stay soft, because right now I just want to spit a LOT of venom but... seriously ? Only people that use sms verification can get the 500CC reward when all those years it was fine to get them ??? This was one of the only 2 ways for me to ever get CC !!! I. HATE. YOU.

The sms verification was supposed to be only for people getting free CC by daily stuff or something like that. It was NEVER stated it would be for such events too ! What's next ? November event not allowing unverified accounts to get the CC even if they are in the leaderboard ?

I can only hope this was a mistake otherwise if extortionary tactics like this are gonna be used just to claim a 'free gift' then it would be best not to bother and just offer EC or a critter instead.

@Ian @OrderedChaos Can we please get a blog post detailing what sort of future events will need the SMS verification? A lot of people were caught off-guard with this one, the initial verification post didn't even hint it would be needed to claim the bday CC.

Not all of us have a cellphone or are willing to buy one nor are all of us willing to deal with anything related to Google. I don't want anyone having my personal info. E-mail maybe but nothing more. Again, thanks but I will pass. 😊

To everyone frustrated with the SMS verification- I’m hoping the EC team will go back to the drawing board and see what they can make accommodations for, like email code verification. If everyone isn’t able to get the CC then NONE OF US should. @ryu28000 @heatherm19 @wonder404exe

@Ian So none of the other events where CC is involved will require the verification? I'm not familiar with all the events yet but November's gobbler-hunt seems to include a CC prize. That won't require verification to claim? I had no issue with verification and was happy to do--

so for this site, but I really do think this is leaving a lot of users out as-is and some thought should be put into how to make it more accessible for players who don't have access to a cell phone (and it looks like most online options actually require an in-service number....)

Verifying your main account and linking your sides is to combat site abuse that people often use through multiple accounts. I'd like to refer to the original blog post here: https://eggcave.com/blog/you-can-now-formally-link-your-mains-sides
That blog originally states (the last sentence): "Certain Egg Cave features that may be big targets for abuse and fraud may require identity verification via SMS to access in the future."
We apologize if this snuck up on some of you, and understand that an announcement in advance might've been appreciated.

The level of multiple account abuse that we combat on a daily basis is pretty staggering, especially for events like this where the "free CC" spigot is "on." We hope that you can understand that SMS verification is to keep things fair for everybody.

Finally, your phone numbers are NEVER sold to third parties for advertising and marketing purposes and are securely stored in our databases. It is only for verification purposes.

For any people having troubles verifying their phone number via SMS, please submit a ticket. There is a way for you to send an SMS directly to us to verify your number and main account.
