I would say in future unless stated by the user that they're "OK with this design being changed" on a suggested has "designed after my __" in the topic, it should probably be avoided and disconsidered. That's going forward tho. RN, its just how it is.

@prarie thanks for providing all that detail about how commissions work with ian. you're saying everything like it's common sense but not everyone is a commission based artist, and you can't automatically assume that we all know what you know. everything i'm hearing now is new

to me, as i genuinely thought ian would give our notes to the artist to follow (it being OUR concept). if i was aware that my concept would not be followed almost exactly for this suggestion in particular i wouldn't have even bothered to suggest it.

No problem. ❤️ I know most people don't know how art requests are handled; I wish the process was detailed in one of the starred topics for creature suggestions. But all the same; suggestions don't need a wall of text in the image. If you have Qs about the art processes I'm open!

@prairie I'm with you all the way. Creature suggestions aren't copyrighted designs that are sold and replicated. They're just volunteered ideas! I like both versions of the art and I don't think anyone at EC should be catching flak for this, personally.

@shirothekittehlover - I'm sorry but memorial creatures on a random user's pet cat seem like a bit of a silly idea, in my honest opinion. I get that this cat means a lot to the suggestor, but that doesn't mean I or anyone else needs to feel the same way.

@sparklefox I suggested a creature based off my person pet, and I don’t think it’s bad. If you didn’t know it was someone’s pet I feel people would still enjoy it, y’know? I just think as long as the community likes it there’s no issues

I was kinda shook to learn that the artists aren't given the written description along with the visual design 😱 Unless I read something wrong (there's so much to read), but I feel like that would provide MORE inspiration to the artists. Idk! I still adore the Bunvun ❤️

I'm just looking at a three-page dispute and I can't understand - is it really so difficult in the 21st century to just contact the author of the concept and discuss what will be drawn in the end? or is it prohibited by the rules of the site, the administration, or someone else?

and yes! the words that we get from "free art" simply have no weight, because $5 per CSP creature does not fit with the concept of free - that's one; if someone wants to freeze something from cave monthlies it's not "free" - that's two.

I wanted to offer my space monsters for the site but now I definitely won't do it. because not only can it be drawn not what was originally intended (and what, for a second, may be IMPORTANT for a person) but then people will flock to outrage and criticize you DOWN.

at the same time, I have nothing against the artists themselves, they have cool works, it's just super cool. but to reshape the author's concept so much that then people have questions about what it is, why, for what - people who respect others just do not do it so easily.

I agree with praire. Not saying this is it, but don't be like @bot. They literally went insane and ragequit because the artist made the suggestion with a different color. That was one of the most shameful things I've ever seen. At the eond of the day, your art was selected.
