Oooh they're so cute 😄

kataclysm • 29 Mar 2022, 3:04 PM

Cute! I'll take twelve!

megadash • 29 Mar 2022, 3:07 PM

Does this creature ALSO kill millions of birds annually and require rare earth minerals to be stripmined in to produce barely a fraction of the usable energy it's "dirty" counterparts can produce?

pet_cemetery • 29 Mar 2022, 3:13 PM

What a odd creature.

tryvegan4theanimals • 29 Mar 2022, 3:15 PM

The first time I looked at them, I thought that they looked like robot doggies (the body of the turbine being the nose, the center being the eye, and the blade that's facing down forming the mouth). I think it's a really cool design! Great job, artist(s) 💕

sparklefox • 29 Mar 2022, 3:19 PM

Kinda feel like the last two stages should be swapped.

quinoafuntime • 29 Mar 2022, 3:32 PM

@megadash Wasn't aware of the controversy surrounding wind turbines, so I did a bit of research: "about 368,000 fatalities for all bird species are caused annually by collisions with wind turbines." https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0107491

quinoafuntime • 29 Mar 2022, 3:32 PM

For perspective: "between 12 and 64 million birds are killed each year at U.S. power lines, with between 8 and 57 million birds killed by collision and between 0.9 and 11.6 million birds killed by electrocution."

"Most estimates of wind turbine life-cycle global warming emissions are between 0.02 and 0.04 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt-hour. To put this into context,

thursdays_dove • 29 Mar 2022, 3:33 PM

This is hands down the funniest thing I have seen on Egg Cave since the Peeturk and I'm gonna need about 100 of these. xD

dragrawr • 29 Mar 2022, 3:33 PM

They’re absolutely horrifying. I LOVE IT. 🌸💕😳

quinoafuntime • 29 Mar 2022, 3:33 PM

estimates of life-cycle global warming emissions for natural gas generated electricity are between 0.6 and 2 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt-hour and estimates for

quinoafuntime • 29 Mar 2022, 3:33 PM

coal-generated electricity are 1.4 and 3.6 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt-hour" https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/environmental-impacts-wind-power#references

Ian • 29 Mar 2022, 3:36 PM

@quinoafuntime This creature wasn't meant to be released ignoring the realities of bird fatalities and their environmental impact. It is simply something that topically relates to renewable energy. 🌎 There are, of course, problems with wind turbines, too.

iia • 29 Mar 2022, 3:38 PM

@sparklefox I agree… I think the teen stage should be swapped with the adult stage.

quinoafuntime • 29 Mar 2022, 3:41 PM

@ian Actually, after doing a bit of research, my conclusion is that they're a net positive for the environment. I'm fully supportive of a wind turbine creature on Eggcave! ❤️

Ian • 29 Mar 2022, 3:42 PM

@iia @sparklefox this is how it was provided to me by the artist, but I also agree. Swapped! 😸

Ian • 29 Mar 2022, 3:42 PM

@quinoafuntime fantastic! glad to hear you're seeing the positive benefits 😊

sandara • 29 Mar 2022, 4:26 PM

I kinda liked it? XD

ravensong • 29 Mar 2022, 4:34 PM

Ooh

sprite • 29 Mar 2022, 7:16 PM

Odd and unique my kind of creature on here 😊

nut • 29 Mar 2022, 7:43 PM

I…kinda dig it

mastergemma • 29 Mar 2022, 11:27 PM

This is one of the coolest designs to be added recently. Amazing!!

rattyness • 30 Mar 2022, 2:04 AM

Whoa, that's one unique design. But I like it!

amberwater • 30 Mar 2022, 6:11 AM

Cool design!

shirothekittehlover • 30 Mar 2022, 7:40 AM

Already entered my entry! ^^

prairie • 30 Mar 2022, 10:05 AM

This is a pretty neat creature! Gives me a very interesting vibe I can’t pinpoint.

prairie • 30 Mar 2022, 10:38 AM

Not sure when the stage swap took place or what the og order was (in case it didn’t update for me) but I think what’s appearing to be teen to me (the one with 3 fins on the tail) should be last just cause of that extra growth that the child and last don’t have.

prairie • 30 Mar 2022, 10:40 AM

That being said will say the one with the 3 fins doesn’t look to have the same level or shading/bolder shading the other stages have that makes some bits more shiny.

mirime • 30 Mar 2022, 1:00 PM

Every day's Earth Day 💚 very interesting creature, can't wait to read its final description!

mindwhiper • 30 Mar 2022, 6:46 PM

It's... odd creature indeed. However, in it's strange image in some way could see something about old and weird cyberpunk movies b-category like "Hardware"/"Death Machine" - look at it's sharp claws and head. Or it's just my imagination. Anyway, good drawings for this time. Nice.

mindwhiper • 30 Mar 2022, 6:56 PM

Ah yes! It's good idea to released every year some kind of symbolic images in pets to show better way in living on this planet. Crying trashbag is still awesome. Big fan-creature also great. But maybe it's still need to add some more well-recognized symbols of saving this planet.

dragonnn • 30 Mar 2022, 9:53 PM

Whoah, nice design!

ancientclaw • 30 Mar 2022, 10:02 PM

What a funky friend! I like it. Though I do agree with what some people have said about the last two stages looking swapped
