Sunstar nodded as Shallowstar followed her son. He stood up and walked to Highstones. He lied down and fell asleep. He went to the Dark Forest that night, and trained with the tabby who cost him his first life. In the dreamless part of the night, he lost his second life to grief.

Ripplekit turned away from Flameblight and sat by Windpaw. "What do you think this meeting could be about?" Ripplekit asked the apprentice, looking up at Icestar.

Nightstar curled up behind Foxfur's kits. Foxfur had gotten den fever, and had gone back to her warrior duties for the day and was sleeping in the warriors den for the night. As Nightstar slid into Foxfur's nest, Mallowkit and Redkit squeaked in protest. "Hush, little ones." Nightstar murmured to them. "Your mother will be back tomorrow. But for now, I am here. You are safe with me." The kits nestled in her fur, and fell asleep. Yelloweye and Blackflash were standing guard outside camp. Yelloweye for his newborn kits and mate, and Blackflash for Nightstar. Soon, Nightstar's eyes closed, and she fell asleep purring.

Raising her voice, Icestar spoke. "I am happy to announce that RiverClan is ready to have a new apprentice," she announced. "Ripplekit, come forward!"

Ripplekit's mouth hung wide open in astonishment, but she gathered her paws and walked to the front of the WaterFalls. Ripplekit trembled, but her eyes shone with excitement, and having not been groomed by Maplefeather that morning, her fur was spiked, perfectly reflecting her personality.

"From this moment until you receive your warrior name you will be known as Ripplepaw!" She exchanged a glance with her deputy, his excited look reflecting in her eyes. "Flameblight, you will mentor Ripplepaw. I hope that you can pass on your excellent fighting and hunting skills to your apprentice." Icestar leaped down from the rocks, and cheers erupted from the crowd. "Ripplepaw! Ripplepaw!"

(Flameblight can mentor Ripplepaw! She doesn't have ACTUAL warrior fighting training but she has her own style kind of... But she can hunt 😸 )

Flameblight smiled as Ripplek- RipplePAW now, had become an apprentice. Riverclan was prospering this season.

Shallowstar pinned down her son. He bit up and grabbed her down. He let go and ran into the fourtrees, torwards another clan's territory.
She knew it was RiverClans or Fireclans.

@pegasasu Sorry, but I'd prefer it if Flameblight didn't mentor Ripplepaw. She's been in RiverClan for less, than two moon, and you did say that she hadn't learned to catch fish yet, and her styles of fighting aren't what mentors usually teach their apprentices. Sorry, but in my opinion, Fireclaw is the obvious cat to choose.


Ripplepaw fluffed out her fur in excitement and bounded over to her new mentor, stretching her neck to get all the closer to Fireclaw's nose so that she would truly be an apprentice.

"What do you want to do now, Ripplepaw?" Fireclaw purred, hoping that Ripplepaw didn't realize that he was Icestar's mate. If Ripplepaw thought that Icestar was her mother... Parents don't mentor their kits. Then he pushed the thought away and carried on. "We could... hunt? Or train, find you a good nest in the Apprentices' den... With Windpaw, I'm guessing."

Icestar watched Fireclaw talk with Ripplepaw, and a purr rose in her throat. She knew that entrusting Ripplepaw to him would be right- the gentle tomcat was a great mentor.

Windpaw stared at Ripplepaw across the clearing from her nest in the Apprentices' Den. <Will she come here?&gt; she thought, curling up with her green eyes glittering.

"Hunt?" Ripplepaw babbled on excitedly. "I want to work on my hunting crouch." Ripplepaw dropped into a crouch, with her tail weaving back and forth. (Hint: Slap it down;))

"Redkit, come back here!" Nightstar mewed exasperatedly. "Foxfur's coming back into the nursery, you know, and I won't have you looking like furry hedgehogs!" Nightstar pinned down the russet tom by the tail and dragged him back to his littermates, Marshkit and Robinkit. "Ohh, you got caught the the leader." Robinkit teased. The tiny she cat immediately shut her mouth as Nightstar gave her a glare, mischief sparkling in her eyes. "Foxfur!" Nightstar called to the she=cat as she entered camp. Foxfur dropped her fresh-kill on the pile and touched noses with her old friend.

Sunstar grappled the tabby's back with his paws, stripping fur from her back. He jumped off, rounded on her, and gave her flank two blows before darting away. "Can't catch me!" He taunted, disappearing as he woke up from his dream, leaving the tabby yowling in anger.

Fireclaw lashed out with his paw, pinning her tail to the ground. "You'll scare every bit of prey like that," he scolded gently. "Keep your tail still, like this." He dropped into a crouch and crept forward, looking a little like a furry snake.

Ripplepaw tugged her tail free and straightened it out like a twig. "Can I pretend that Windpaw is my prey?" she begged. "I can catch her in her nest." Ripplepaw purred jokingly.

Shallowstar hobbled up. She didn't see anything but a blur. She tried to follow Muddypaw's scent. It was gone. Covered up. She did the best she could though.
But when she hear other cats, and fell into raging waters, she knew she was in trouble.

@whispers HOLY CHIZ! Flameblight to the sort-of rescue!

As Flameblight patrolled the borders, she caught the familiar scent of Windclan. She ran to the river, where the scent was coming from, and was horrified to find a cat drowning- the WindClan leader, for that matter, drowning. Flameblight almost jumped in the water, but remembered that she couldn't swim. She was hesitant, but then, using the skills she saw other RiverClan cats swimming and instinct, jumped in and began swimming. She wasn't a strong enough swimmer to help Shallowstar out, but she was strong enough to swim to the other side and grab a stick to pull Shallowstar out.

Ripplepaw not waiting for an answer, raced to the edge of camp, but then heard a cat yowl. Darting through the barrier at the entrance to RiverClan camp, she went to the river. "Flameblight!" she yowled worriedly. She pounced on a wave and tried to help Flameblight get Shallowstar to safety.

Flameblight said between deep breaths, coughing up loads of water. Her red fur was slick against her body, attracting the cold. A shiver was sent up Flameblight's spine as she shook out her fur. She had to get used to being wet if she was going to be a RiverClan cat, and she needed to learn how to swim.

Shallowstar saw the she-cat jump after her. She tried to swim, but the deep wound started to sting. She swallowed water and fell under, she tried calling for help. She thought she was to die.

Flameblight struggled against the current, and managed to use her teeth to put a large branch in the water. She tried to see if the leader would grab it, but Flameblight's hopes were weakening.

Shallowstar felt her claws grab onto something with the flailing for her paws. She grabbed her other paw onto it. She was able to pull her head above the surface, gulping into the precious air. She opened her eyes to see the clear, brave, face of Flameblight. It was the rouge who she never believed in. The one she met at the gathering, that she thought, couldn't do a thing.

"Let's go."

She lead the way to Muddypaw. She narrowed her eyes. Redstar's *cought* son(Not really). She WAS Redstar's REAL kit. (Just wanted to point it outx3!)
"Hello...Muddy...erm...paw." she meowed slowly. Brokenfur lashed his tail. "Daisystar...He's a WINDCLAN apprentice, send him home..."
Dasiystar licked her mates ear. "I want to talk to him. ALONE."
Brokenfur bowed and left.

Redstar appered. He hissed.
Dasiystar ignored him. "You aren't Redstar's kit."
She hissed as Redstar lunched at her. They fought.
Redstar growled. "Yes, he is!"
Dasiystar hissed. "Oh, really? YOU LIED TO JUST AS YOU LIED TO ME!"
"What did I say?"
"You said I was born Clan-born. MY MOTHER IS TABBY, A KITTYPET!"

Redstar and Dasiystar stopped. Dasiystar was bleeding more than Redstar. Her ear was torn, just like her father's.
Brokenfur ran. "DASIYSTAR! HURRICANEKIT IS GONE!"

Muddypaw snorted, he ran past Brokenfur. He caught a scent, he took a sharp turn torwards the river. <The kit cannot drown!> He ran faster. His throat burned. He still ran harder and harder. He saw the kit..on a rock in the deepest part of the river.

Muddypaw did what the Warrior Code told him to do. He jumped in. He swam to the kit. He stood on a rock near it. He grabbed the kit by the tail just as it was about to slip.
"Gtchya" he said with fur in his mouth.

Muddypaw swam to the edge and layed the kit far away from the water. He coughed to the get water out of his chest.
