Grace saw materials flying around. Black and white colored bolts of fabric flitted around and held themselves up against Grace and Alex. She had to admit, needles flying around did make her uneasy. When her measurements were done, Grace went to look through dragon hide gloves. There were many pairs, so it took several minutes to find ones that fit herself. Grace also found some that she thought would fit Alex. 'Perfect,' she thought.

Alex took the gloves, they were forest green like her eyes. Madam Minch finished her robes and handed her three pairs of black robes. "Perfect," she said and then to Grace, "Books next?"

"Here's enough Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts to purchase everything on the list. You sure you can do this alone?" Jason's mom questioned.
"Of course. I can use Floo Powder to get there." Jason sighed at his mother's over-preparation towards him.

"Oh okay." his mom sniffed and watched as Jason sprinkled the Floo Powder in the fire.

But Jason paused, and looked over his shoulder.

"Thanks Mom."
Then he was out.

Diagon Alley~

Jason took in Diagon Alley. Then down at his list.
"Where should I start?" he mumbled.
Ollivander's, obviously.

He also looked at others coming into Diagon Alley too, but he hoped with all his heart no one took him for a Muggle-born.

"Yes," Grace agreed. "Flourish and Blott's." She carefully put her robes, hat, cloak, and gloves into her bag and gave the appropriate amount of money to Madam Malkin. "Thank you," she said to her as she walked out.

Grace followed Alex. She silently counted the money she had left to make sure she had enough to buy everything with. When satisfied she wouldn't suddenly go broke, she took a moment to take in the view around her. Diagon Alley was crammed full of witches and wizards. Vendors filled the edges of the area. She wasn't usually a fan of busy shopping areas, but Diagon Alley was her favorite place to be.

"Hey, there's Ollivander's!" Grace exclaimed. "Do you want to get a wand first?" She asked Alex.

Jason thanked Mr. Ollivander for his brand new Ash & Phoenix Feather core wand, unyielding, 10 1/4 inches.

He turned to the door, and abruptly stopped infront of two girls who almost rammed into him.

"Watch it." he growled.

Grace turned to go to the wand shop. She felt her heart leap a little. She had been wanting a wand forever. Now she could finally have her own. She ran after Alex.

"Yeah, like you weren't running to get your own wand," Grace retorted to the rude boy. "Mistakes and accidents happen, I'm sure you've been through that plenty of times. Get over it."

"Blimey! You, don't look like you meant that. Do you? You look like a little Huffly puffy girl. Also, I wasn't the one who was running. But whatever, your mistake." Jason coolly said.

Then he stood there. "Well? While I'm still here, my name's Jason. What house do you wish for at Hogwarts?"

Grace rolled her eyes. "If you want to be stupid, fine by me," she snapped. She seemed to be having a bad day, personality-wise. In a slightly less hostile tone, she said,"I'm Grace. Grace Valen. I'm hoping for Gryffindor."

@graceseggs @trish Whoever wants to run into a girl in her pajamas. XD

After closing and locking her window, Phoebe stared at the items in each of her hands. On a whim, she opened the box first. It was small and square, perhaps five centimeters long, with the kind of hinge used for jewelry boxes. Sure enough, as she pried it open, the warm morning sunlight fell upon the gold and amber ring. Phoebe's eyes went wide. Using her knuckle, she pushed her glasses farther up her nose, and then reached out to take the ring. As soon as her finger brushed it, however, an odd sensation overcame her--that was the best word she could find, odd. It was as if a hook had seized something behind her navel and then pulled sharply. Her room melted from view, and she shut her eyes tight. When she next opened them, she was standing at the side of a cobblestone street, still clothed in her nightdress and socks.

"Phoebe?" a familiar voice inquired. She turned, coming face to face with her Aunt Audrey--the mess of frizzy blonde curls was positively unmistakable. Phoebe took a flustered step back, mortified and baffled. Before she could go any further, however, her aunt swept her into a hug. "Hogwarts, dear!" the 30-something woman crooned, swinging her around on the sidewalk.

"Hogwarts?" the young girl echoed, confused. Her aunt suddenly noticed that the envelope in the girl's hand was unopened.

Before Grace said something, an 11 or 12 year old girl appeared. Probably by Portkey. She knew that wadn't unusual. The thing was, she was in pajamas. She forbid herself to stare and looked at Alex.

@hedwig68 Thanks. ^^
Phoebe pried open the envelope and read it carefully. Her expression only grew more muted as her eyes flew over the words:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL
of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Dear Miss Phoebe Shephard,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,
Deputy Headmistress

She looked up to her aunt, peering through a stray strand of hair. "What . . . is this?"

"School," the woman replied as if it were obvious. "I always knew you were special! Not like your brother--you were certainly the special one." In response to the girl's blank face, the woman continued. "Your grandmother was a witch," she explained brightly. "So am I. It skipped over your father, but he passed it down to you. Isn't that wonderful? It favors the women in our family, I suppose." Phoebe shook her head, still numb. "Magic, dearie! Magic! Now, give me that list. I suppose we ought to get you your wand first . . ."

From the corner of her eye, Phoebe noticed another young girl waving to her. It took all her willpower not to duck and hide behind her aunt. In the end, she merely stared back with wide, timid brown eyes, her hands clasped in front of her.

"Oh," her aunt said suddenly. She was always quite the scatterbrain, Phoebe had noted. "We ought to do something about those clothes. Here, you can wear my coat." From her satchel, she pulled out a large grey peacoat. Phoebe slipped her arms through its too-wide sleeves, feeling weighed down by the heavy fabric. The coat was nearly longer than her nightdress. "Quite fashionable," her aunt assured her. "Oh, look, you've made a friend. Hello, dear!" In place of Phoebe, she waved to the young girl. "Why don't you go see if you can shop together? She looks like a first-year."

(I've decided to switch to Third as well X3)

On Cryon's return home, his muddy shoe landed on the letters which his scatterbrained mother had clearly forgotten, dementing the top ones, which were, as it happened, the business ones. Shaking his head in bemusement, he wiped the mud off as best he could and placed them on the table.
Then he noticed his letter was missing. "Mum?" He called, quietly at first, then louder when there was no reply. "Have you seen my letter?"
He walked around a bit, then noticed the door to his sister's room ajar. She'd left school and gone to Egypt, so...
Inside, he discovered his mum sitting on the bed, holding his letter. For some reason, she looked quite sad.
The room was decorated with pictures of his sister and her friends, decked out in their weird private school uniform, as well as a green banner and this crest; he assumed that had to do with her old school as well.
Hey! Cyron blinked, realizing that the crest was the same as the seal on his letter. He had never really cared to listen to his sister talking about her school, and neither had his mother, but he did recall that she'd been specially selected for it, or something. Was that it?
"Hey, mum...?"
His mother silently handed him the letter, which he read.

"Gryffindors... everyone wants to be a protagonist." Jason rolled his eyes and headed for Flourish and Blotts.

"We'll all see. I wish to be in Slytherin." he smirked as he entered the bookshop.

"8 books in all." Jason counted as he head to pay for them.

@cotton Just a question, but, are we possibly at Hogwarts AFTER the years Harry existed or pretend he didn't exist?

@graceseggs
Phoebe's aunt smiled delightedly as another first-year girl approached them, but Phoebe's will to hide only increased. She felt very small underneath the thick coat, and very lost amongst the wide street. And that was hardly the beginning! Not a minute ago, she'd found out she was a witch, a magic-user, and she was here to get some things before heading off to what seemed like a boarding school.

"Have you girls gotten your wands?" the woman asked, drawing her arm around her niece. "If not, Phoebe would love to come with you. She's never been here before, and she's going to need help finding some things. Oh, may I have my ring back?"

Dazed, Phoebe released her grip on the ring she'd forgotten she was holding. Her aunt took it back and promptly slid it onto her finger, admiring its glow under the full sunlight. "When your teachers ask you," she reminded her niece, "you can tell them you've traveled by Portkey before!"

Phoebe stared meekly up at the two girls, and the boy they seemed to be arguing with. She could feel her glasses sliding down her nose.
