Alex walked in and began to pat a dog, "Wish we could have dogs." She commented.

"You could get a cat. Four legs, fur, and a tail. Same thing," Grace joked. She browsed the owl section. A grey-black owl caught her attention. She coaxed it onto her arm.

"Yes, I'm sure you'd love that." Grace smiled kindly at Alex to show she was still joking. She stroked the owl's feathers. "Yes, I think I'll take you," she murmured. She payed for the owl.

Alex looked around and looked in a few cages. She spotted one in the cage that had a few owls in it. In the back there was a beautiful red owl but all the other owls ignored it and even hurt it. Alex got angry and put her hand in there pushing away the other owls before reaching the red one it quickly jumped on her arm and she took it out. She payed for it and walked over to Grace.

"Vex," Grace quietly decided. "That will be your name." She looked over at Alex and her new owl. "What are you naming him? Or her?" She asked. "Oh! I'll be right back." She walked over to the counter and bought some owl treats. Grace then went back over to Alex.

"He is a boy and I will name him Flare," Alex said patting him. Flare pecked affectionately at her ear and made a cute noise as he was loved on by Alex.

Grace nodded. She raised her arm with Vex on it. "Go on, stretch your wings. It's alright," she coaxed the owl. Vex soon was convinced and spread her wings. She quickly took to the air. She calmly flew above Grace and Alex.

Flare didn't want to move but after a lot of coaxing he took flight and he look beautiful flying. Alex looked at Grace, "Let's get some ice-cream."

"Okay," Grace agreed. She took her bag off of her shoulder and tucked the owl treats away in her now-bulging back. Heaving it back onto her shoulder, she gazed around. She realized it was quite hard to read signs with tons of people blocking them. Despite this, Grace located the ice cream shop and walked over to it.

Alex ordered a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone and sat down with Flare on her shoulder.

Grace ordered vanilla ice cream with fudge sauce on top in a bowl. She received her order and sat down at Alex's table. "Wasn't this an interesting day?" She asked Alex. "We should go here more often. And avoid Knockturn Alley." Her friendly gaze turned into a glare when she mentioned it.

Alex made a causal whistle, "Yes but we had an adventure and did stuff that most first year don't." She said licking her cone.

Grace swallowed a spoonful of ice cream. "We had an adventure that first years SHOULDN'T have," she corrected. "I love adventures and challenges, but that was a little beyond our reach for our age." She took another bite.

"Yah but we won and that just makes it that much more fun to take bigger risks than you should." Alex said patting Flare.

Grace remained silent. She scooped up another spoonful and popped it in her mouth. She quickly finished her ice cream. When she set her spoon down, the bowl and the spoon flew back in to the ice cream shop.

Grace stood up as well. "Do you want to browse the shops for awhile? I come here every once in a while, but never alone. Or do you have to go now?" She asked. Vex flew down and rested on Grace's shoulder. Grace playfully ruffled her feathers.

Grace looked around. "Where to first?" She asked. A broomstick shop caught her eye. "Want to go there?" She asked while motioning to the store. A small but noticeable mischievous gleam appeared in her eyes.

Grace ran over to the shop and gazed in at the merchandise. Firebolts and Nimbus 2001s were shining in the front. Older models, such as the Cleansweep hung near the back. She pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Alex looked at the newest broom the Firebolt 2.

Grace brushed a hand over a Firebolt 2 on display. She turned to Alex. "Do you have a broom?" She inquired. Suddenly, the shopkeeper shouted at Grace,"Hey, don't touch that!"

Alex shrugged, "An old Nimbus 1000, my parents said that they might get me a Firebolt 2 though."

"Cool, Firebolts are the best! That I know of, of course. I've never been on a Firebolt 2," Grace remarked. She shot an irritated look at the shop owner. "They're pretty expensive. Besides, as soon as you get the newest model, there's a brand new model."

"I wouldn't care if there was a newer model out I would be happy with the Firebolt 2," Alex said, "And I am going to take you to my vault since Mom and Dad told me to bring some money home so you'll see how much money we have." Alex said.

"Even if you bought every model in existence, what would you do with the outdated models? It'd still be a waste," Grace said. She glanced around the store for a moment before asking,"Are you finished here? We should probably move on if we want to see more stuff."

"My out dated models wood either go to charity, I might give them to a friend without a broom, or other stuff. I guess let's go." Alex said.

"Okay," Grace agreed. "Where should we go next?" She looked out the windows of the store. The Firebolt 2 caught her eye again. "I wish we could have broomsticks at school," she sighed.
