"Yep, I'm the one." he said with a wide smile and looked at the small bird that Selena had her eyes set on. He too was interested in the mission, but he paid no thought to it. It was a normal thing for him to get into trouble and pick fights so danger wasn't new to him but when he'd heard how dangerous the mission would be, it tugged on his curiousity. He smiled. If he was chosen for the task, he could finally be able to show the other masters how much he had improved since he had gotten his power. Coming out of his thoughts, he looked at Selena again and grinned. "And you're a mage, aren't you? Come to think of it I might have seen you train before. You're quite good with the spear and posses an advanced level of magic. I have to say, I was impressed!" he exclaimed.

Selena smiled. "Really...? Thank You.", she replied. She staarted to pick invisible pieces of dirt from her clothes. {I wonder how he killed a griffin..} she thought to herself. Her train of thouht was interupted when the Griddinmaster said something. "Apparantly, I am a mage although i dont think i'm very good at it...", she said, adding a short laugh afterwords. Selena looked up at the sky, taking in the beautiful sight. It was a light blue color and pufy white clpuds floated around. The sun shone high and bright. "It's a nice day.", she commented.

Biting her lip and squinting her violet eyes, Tagara battered a training dummy with her gnarled wood quarterstaff. She had to focus; she couldn't mess this up! Not today.

She heard there might be a new mission and was so excited. If she could do well she might even get to go. She might be able to travel the world a see the elves and dwarves, or even defeat a monster and become a master!

A sharp knock to her head, brought the girl back to reality. She zoned out again and hit herself with her own weapon. "At least the blades weren't out," she mumbled to herself.

The violet eyes widened as she saw that the dummy was missing an arm, "and I actually hit something while I was daydreaming. Yay!"

Callette danced one, then two steps to the side. Across the chamber a mage stood in leather armor. He had a spear in one hand, and a shield on the other arm. He circled as well, shifting the cumbersome equipment. Callette was unarmed.

The mage charged forward, spear extended and shield pressed to his chest. The Rocmaster reacted quickly. She threw her arms over her head, crossing her hands at the wrist, before rolling them rapidly down to her chest. Wind hissed through her tumbling fingers. The mage with the spear grew closer.

Sharply, Callette struck. She widened her stance, dragging the toe of her boot in a circle across the floor like a dancer, and punched forward with her right arm. The wind rushed from her extended arm, striking the mage squarely in the middle of his shield. The impact forced him off his feet, but before he could hit the ground, another blast of air struck him from the side, and he sailed into the wall with a dull thud. Callette remained in battle stance for a moment, her fists clutched to her chest like a boxer, before it was clear that he was not getting up. "Sorry," she murmured, crossing the floor to help him up. It was then that she noticed one of the training apprentices. She was doing more damage to herself than to the practice dummy. "Oy," she called for the girl's attention, searching her mind for a name. "Tagara. Come here."

While Tagara tried to get herself back together, she heard someone call her and flushed deep red. A man in light armor was on the floor as a muscular woman with short hair leaned to help him up. The woman called her and she swallowed. She didn't realize the other Mages were there.

Gripping her quarterstaff so tight her knuckles were white, the lanky girl shuffled toward the obviously much stronger Mage. Another way to not mess up is always answer when called. "You want to talk to me, Ma'am?"

Selena slowly walked away and headed across the training fields, glancing around every so often. A girl she recognized as Tagara was shuffling towards a powerful mage. She heard that she was a Rocmaster that went by the name Callette. She hid behind a statue and peered out at the two people curiously. Selena started playing with the hilt of her dagger, tracing the spiral markings engraved in the wood.

@silver_winged Am I still able to join?

Name: Caelan Loakree
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Appearance: Caelan is of average height, with long, slender limbs and slight muscle. He is fine-boned, with large, ambler-coloured eyes and thick dark ringlets. He has an almost delicate appearance, but doesn't look overly feminine.
Personality: Quiet at first, but he gradually becomes more talkative as he gets to know people better. To people who don't know him well, Caelan seems reserved and knowledgeable; however to those who do know him, he is often confused and does not understand many concepts of magic. He keeps his calm, and is very hard to make angry. Whilst he is a bit slow to socialise, he prefers to make a few very close friends, than many not so close friends.
Status: Apprentice
**Token: None
Type of Magic: Water - although he is especially good at controlling and making clouds
Other: He's not too good with his magic, as it only manifested within him a year ago. He is also quite talented with a bow.

@duchess Yes, the roleplay is still open to joiners. Your form is approved, you can post your intro anytime you like.
@fyret1ger @bunnyshadow @skylark

It took a few moments to get the mage safely back to his feet. His head had struck the wall, and the thin helmet had not offered much protection. He claimed he felt a welt forming, and that he was feeling rather dizzy. Callette bade him sit upon a bench. "Is there a healer present?" she called out.

She narrowed her eyes as the girl approached, expression disapproving. The apprentice was taller than her by several inches. "You'll take your eye out with that," the Rocmaster said simply, as if that were all she had to say. "You're not in proper stance," she added after a moment, motioning with a hand for the girl to rotate her body. "Both your forward hand and your forward foot should be facing me. Now, you can go to forward guard without hitting yourself in the head."

Quarterstaves were the fencing weapon of choice around the castle. Callette personally preferred to fight with a hammer or a battleaxe--supplemental wind magic made their weight far more manageable--but it was only appropriate that she be able to handle most common weapons.

Appearance: Scruffy black hair with a fringe that hangs over and partially covers up his black almond-shaped eyes. Olive skin. Tall and lanky with a light build. Wears an arrogant smirk most of the time. Lacks strength but makes up for it by his speed and agility.
Personality: Outgoing and social. Loves to have fun and make new friends. Sometimes immature and boastful to the point of arrogance. Loyal and faithful to the king. Prefers cunning and wit as opposed to brute strength. He also prefers to use long range weapons such as a spear or bow than shorter range weapons like a sword or dagger.
Status: Phoenixmaster
Token: A phoenix talon and feather strung as a necklace
Type of Magic: Regeneration and fire

Tagara didn't know what to make of the woman's orders. Narrowed brown eyes gave her the impression the woman was angry, but she didn't sound angry as she corrected Tagara's stance and warned her about taking her eye out. That comment only deepened the lanky apprentice's blush.

The bruise from when she hit herself also stung, almost as if it reminded her of the danger. She very well could have lost an eye, or have done even worse damage. She shivered at that thought and unconsciously released one hand from her weapon to touch her face.

Her fingertips tingled, but then she tightened the hand in a fist. That would be a waste, especially when the lightly armored fellow was in worse shape and complained of feeling dizzy.

Tagara glanced to the woman and then back to the man on the bench. She swallowed again, but eventually requested, "My lady, I know I'm not very strong as a humble apprentice, but if I may, I'd like to check that man before training any further. I might be able to help."

She wanted the woman's blessing for the action, but she also thought tending injured parties would be a priority, so she approached the bench once she finished speaking and loosened her hand, ready to release the power still tingling in her fingertips. She reached out to touch his head and winced a bit herself, but this was something she couldn't be distracted from.

John got up from his spot on the bench, and steadily ambled over to the mage and Callette. "Nicely done Cally, quite a ding he got here. Though, honestly, it's really quite a common attack of yours. You miss," he pointed at Tagara, "let's see what you can do." He extended his large and flat hand to the mage whom he addressed, "Don't worry, Adam. I'll fix you if she screws up." Johnny whispered and stroked his beard, thinking. "You know, she could take out your eye. Or, your entire face. Now, that would be very interesting to.. well. You know. Fix." He chuckled deeply, his eye twinkling.

@silver_winged Thank you 😃

Caelan lay on his back and gazed sleepily at the fluffy white clouds drifting across the sky. As he watched, he felt a faint tug in his chest - the tug of his developing magic - which seemed to almost connect him to the wandering clouds. He closed his eyes for a moment, allowing himself to concentrate on that faint tug, before broadening his awareness to the surrounding environment. He could feed the warm grass beneath him, feel the breeze swishing lazily around and could even hear the vague murmur of distant voices.

With a groan, Caelan rose into a sitting postion. The sound of people brought a vague memory that something important was meant to be happening today. Scratching his head uncertainly, he struggled to remember what that might be.
Absently, Caelan removed some leaves of grass from his thick curls. As he stared blankly at the grass between his fingers, he suddenly remembered. A new mission was to be announced.

Caelan struggled to his feet, and staggered off in the direction of the castle, hoping he hadn't missed anything too important whilst he had been daydreaming.

@silver_winged ((Alright. I changed his power to regeneration and increased his age.))

A set of arrows were fired simultaneously into the air and impaled a straw dummy in the head, arms and chest. Dylan Smith lowered his long wooden bow and sighed with satisfaction. He had been training himself on how to fire more than one arrow with accuracy and was pleased with his progress.

The mage wore a crimson robe embroidered with various patterns of phoenixes and fire. Flicking his long fringe to the side to clear his vision, Dylan raised his bow again and fired a few more arrows, confident that they will be accurate. But to his dismay, they all missed his target and bounced off the stone flooring.

He frowned, retrieved his arrows and placed them back in the storage before exiting the training area to seek out his fellow mages. Dylan felt the need to have a good conversation with someone.

The disappointed look once again took root on Callette's face, but she simply waved her hand at the apprentice's request. "I'd rather you save your energy for training, but if you must, then you may."

The apprentices were a cause of concern around the castle. There were more of them than ever, which would eventually prove an advantage, though the influx of new students had left them with a shortage of teachers. New apprentices were typically quite lopsided in skill; they'd either be proficient in magic and lacking in battle, or proficient in battle and lacking in magic. Instruction in all fields was direly needed. Merely a week ago they'd nearly lost a man to a particularly violent river serpent that was threatening to flood the nearest city. The man had all but drowned; as a telepathic mage, he had never been taught to swim.

There was recent talk of educational reform, and of selective entrance into magehood. All of these discussions, however, had been put on hold in light of the new mission. Callette still did not know much about its nature--the mage captain and the king were the mission's sole organizers--though she had been warned by the captain to keep her schedule clear for the next few weeks.

Callette cracked a smile as Sir John steadily hobbled over. His awkward gait (and the failure associated with it) would never cease to amuse her. "It's never let me down," she replied simply. "I don't try to fix what isn't broken, John." She allowed this comment to linger before chuckling lightly, her eyes softening.

Tagara bit her lip again and tightened her grip on the weapon in her other hand, since she hadn't put it down yet.

That Mage John was definitely testing her, and she wouldn't fail. Besides the woman did give the girl her blessing and she wasn't going to waste that either. "Don't worry, Sir Adam, I won't hurt you," she said to the man on the bench to both reassure him and calm herself down, as she gently touched his head.

The tingling in her fingers grew stronger, almost burning while her power identified the source of Adam's pain and began its healing. She gritted her teeth as the burning turned into throbbing inside her own head, but after a few minutes it faded and she pulled her hand away. Taking a deep breath, she blinked her eyes, and flexed her fingers to stabilize herself.

Tagara stepped away from the bench to give her patient room and said, "There you are, Sir Adam. I'm finished and your face is just as handsome as it was before I touched you. How do you feel now?"

While she waited for his answer, she gave a sidelong glance to Sir John, hoping she wouldn't pay for her not so well hidden jibe about his comment, and gripped her quarterstaff with both hands again.

"I suppose so." Johnny yawned, stretching his left arm as his right hand was over his mouth. "Eh, words of tr'th from the ever-so-always-right Callette." He chuckled, and watched the young girl with dismissive interest. After she was finished, he briefly took a search at Adam.

Adam shifted uncomfortably, not used to such attention. Shortly & carefully, he replied to Tagara; "Good, thank'u."
He turned to Callette and bowed, "I might as'ell go, Lady. Summo' me when you're ready again, pl'se." With that, he nodded to Sir John and left the room.

John waved to him, and looked at Tagara with an eyebrow raised. Noting to Callette, he said "She be alright, but not for long battles. Short 'n quick travelling, more like. 'therwise, she be better fight'n."

"Is that so?" Callette quipped, placing her hands on her hips. She cast John a false look of disapproval; anyone who truly looked could see the laughter in her eyes.

Straightening to a more dignified posture as Adam rose, she nodded firmly in his direction. "Thank you, Adam," she said not unkindly. "You are dismissed."

She cast John a warning look at his next comment, shaking her head slightly. "We'll save this conversation for later," she articulated, stepping between him and the girl Tagara. "Now, raise your quarterstaff," she instructed. Her eyes darted to the side, finding a weapons rack. With a flick of her wrist, she commanded a gust of wind to take hold of one staff upon the rack. Like a startled animal, it leaped quickly to her hand. The other weapons on the rack rattled in the wake of the gust. "Low guard," she amended her instructions, taking the basic fighting position as well. "And take the time to angle yourself correctly."

Tagara pulled back a couple steps when the woman placed herself between Sir John and the apprentice. It startled her at the time, but it was also a relief. She didn't know what to do with herself when he made that comment. She didn't want to offend or anger either of them and walk away, but staying there was awkward.

"Focus!" she whispered to herself and looked to the woman again, nodding to the orders. Inside her head she picked them apart one by one to make sure she got them right. Even though she could simply look to her opponent's stance, it was better to be sure of things in her own head. She couldn't always depend on someone else, especially if she ever wanted to be a master.

She bit her lip again to concentrate. She was far from a master right now. She wasn't even a full mage yet. After the painstaking process of making sure she was perfect, the girl gave a tiny grin and said, "Ready, my lady."

Callette nodded once to the girl, sparing a moment to check her footing. It was far superior to the clumsy stance she had used with the practice dummy. "Good," she commented, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet. "Now, try the overhead strike again."

No sooner had the instructions come out of her mouth than the door to the training hall swung open, and it fell quiet. "Captain," many murmured as the man passed by, lowering their weapons to bow or curtsy.

Captain Riren was a man in his prime. He took long, steady strides and walked with relaxed but flawless posture. He wore a clean auburn beard with the grace one usually reserves for a crown, and it did justice to his weather-worn face. He did not need to raise his voice nor ascend a pedestal for his announcement to be heard by all that were present. "Please assemble in the dining hall," he announced in a booming voice. "We are meeting to discuss the new mission."

As Dylan collided with John, he jumped back with surprise and flashed the fellow mage a forgiving smile. He was about to try to start conversation but sighted Captain Riren and stopped to hear what the man had to say.

As the captain's instructions echoed through the room, questions flew in Dylan's head. A new mission? What would it be? Will he be involved? Hopefully.

His heart fluttered with anticipation of a great quest and he resisted the temptation bounce on the balls of his feet like an excited child. His robes fluttered about as Dylan strode swiftly towards the dining hall, forgetting his encounter with John instantly.

John was about to nod back to Dylan, but heard the Captain. When he finished speaking, John slapped Dylan's back and said, "Beat you there!" With that, he sprinted quickly through the small hall before the excited mass of mages, fighters, and important people came through.

Tagara's tiny grin expanded and her face brightened at the praise. She had an idea it wasn't given lightly and soaked it up.

She was ready for the next command, but she didn't get the chance to prove it, since a hush fell over the room and Captain Riren made an announcement.

The lanky girl shivered in both excitement and sudden anxiety. The mission! She's been waiting for this news all day, but what would it entail? Would she be allowed to join? What if she was too young or inexperienced? What if...she stopped that thought and grimaced. Nope! She wouldn't go there.

In her nervousness, the girl hesitated to follow, and clutched her staff tight against her body, while the others streamed around her. It kept her from accidently hitting anyone and was something solid to cling to while she tried calming down. Sir John and another fellow speeding past didn't help, though she did wonder how Sir John could run very fast with that odd gait he had. @skylark @wolfmilk @silver_winged
