So I normally put off my summer homework until the day before school but this year I decided to be responsible because I had more than I've had past years.
I read all 5 books for english (brighton beach memoirs, catch 22, catcher in the rye, our town and the glass menagerie)
but now I have to do 4 chapters for AP US History which is 20-40 identifications (detailed definitions) and 10 essay questions for each chapter. I think I'm gonna die.
Whining over ~

I've never had summer work, but I love English and History. I would probably do those just for fun. I always try to get a head start though to impress my teachers.

Yes I admit I'm a kiss up and teacher's pet.

I'm taking AP U.S History too! And also AP Language & Composition and AP Physcology. So I have to read five books for summer reading and a project that involves calculating a budget of expenses and how much I will have to cut out if I worked minimum wage and lived in an apartment by myself for a month. Oh, what fun... And I still need 22 hours community service for the minimum of 100 for a scholarship. Here I am feeding eggs with no regrets 😃

I'm currently enrolled in a summer college course for computer science. It's relatively easy enough, and somehow it fits in between Egg Cave and work. Some of the projects are pretty fun.

I don't have any summer work for school, but my mom always assigns me STAR test prep and math >.<

I wait until the last minute all the time x3

Its my first year having summer homework O: Im going into 9th & we have to road these books called ' everything i need to know i learned in kindergarten' & ' the hobbit' and we have to do journal entries & an essay and stuff : P its annoying cause the books are soooo boring

I'll be starting junior year, I'm 15 😃 No where near a senior haha. Late birthdays for the win!

My teacher for English II honors last semester used my name in an example for the word 'procrastinate'. I think she knew something oO.

Uh, anyways, I have like two weeks left of my summer break, and I've barely started my summer reading (I've only ever had to read books over the summer). I'm reading Mockigbird (NOT To Kill a Mockingbird 😋) for summer break... Just like the rest of my school. No seriously everybody in my school has a choice of one of two books for summer reading I know it's stupid.

Have any of you ever read Eats Shoots and Leaves? Or Nickled and Dimed? Just curious. The first book is all about grammar and punctuation.. I actually read 25pgs before I got distracted.

omg I know I was reading it and alternating between laughing and thinking "Are we going to discuss all this in school? If I have an old teacher it's going to be so awkard." Brighton beach memoirs had a few scandalous parts as well.
And I thought you wrote you were reading Mockingjay and I was like OMG LUCKY HUNGER GAMES but then I saw it was Mockingbird 😋 is it good?

lucky you, you get your license really late 😋 Some of my friends get theirs before I get my permit haha

@marybp: I'm procrastinating getting my permit too. By the end of summer of course but I'm sacred. More for the innocent people walking on the street than myself 😸 & The book really isn't that bad, the make tons of corny jokes and maybe I'm just a huge nerd for getting all of them 😊

I want to get my permit the day I turn 16 (when we can get them in my state) I can't wait to drive! But I can't even get my license until January of junior year so it's a while away haha 😋

We have yet to have our assignments in AP US (here we calling APUSH) not looking forward to it. But I passed my AP World History Exam and have college credit s I feel a little confident it will be easier than memorizing a few hundred thousand years worth of the history of the entire world. Haha, what other AP have you guys taken?

We call it APUSH too 😊 Oh wow, I'm just going to be a sophomore next year, so APUSH is the only AP class available to us, but every other class I have is honors. 😋
I took regular world history last year, there were only like... 2 honors classes for freshmen. xD It was a really easy class though. ^^

Nice! I feel like world history would be more exciting than US, but this is the only one I could take.
This is my first AP class, it's the only one sophomores can take at my school 😃

because my school goes alg 1 > geometry > alg 2 > pre calc but if you're ahead you take alg 1 > alg 2 > geometry > pre calc > calc

it's confusing 😋

I'm actually looking forward to geometry because alg 2 was my least favorite class ever!

Except if you're in algebra 2 honors, you just skip pre calc. But I had this weird situation. I took algebra 1 in 8th grade, and then they told me to take 2 honors, but I hadn't done geometry yet, so I need to do that. 😋

I could even not take a math course senior year because my school you need a total of 4 math and 3 science or 4 science and 3 math, and I like science a lot more 😊

That's odd. o.O We are required to take 4 years of math I think. 😱 And at least 3 of science. So I failed to mention /all/ our ordered math classes
Alg 1-alg 2-geometry-pre calc-calc ab-calc bc-math 5/stats

I will make it to math 5 I think. ^^ Only like... 4 of 50 kids make it there, so it's my goal! 8D
What science are you taking next year? I took biology last year which sucks because I took it in 8th grade and my credit didn't transfer. :K But I'm doing chem this year, so I'm stoked! 8D

I took Alg 1 in 8th grade too! Then geometry in freshman year, two math classes last year (alg 2 and advanced topics for math) this year I'm taking analytical geometry/trigonometry honors. I'm a math person, geometry was really fun and easy!

In freshman year I could only take AP Human Geography, we had a horrible teacher and all failed. It was bad, but at least we got some experienced. World Hostory was really fun actually! Despite being worked to the bone by my teacher.

yea it is! but I'll probably end up taking 4 years of each.
and same we have more math like AP stat and stuff 😋
I'm taking honors chem next year, I took honors bio last year, which actually wasn't too bad. Bio is my favorite subject, I'm not really excited for chem haha.
What language do you take? I'll be in french 3 😃

No APs for freshmen at out school. D; Wow, our english teacher was kind of crazy. He had ridiculous expectations for us. We read frankenstein (typically a book juniors read) and had to write a romantic essay in the style of Mary Shelly (I actually did quite well on that one. ^^) But the sheer NUMBER of essays we had was /killer/ I had As in all of my classes but english. o-o But like... no one had an A in english. 😋 I GET HIM AGAIN NEXT YEAR TOO! 8D *dies*
I'm doing geometry now and I'm just... confused because it's easy. xD After algebra 2 where nothing really made /sense/ you just kind of accept rules as true, I'm like... overthinking geometry. xD

I have to go to bed, good night you guys, I'll check back in the morning. 😊

I hated bio in 8th grade. o-o I'm really queasy and dissecting is not my forte. D; I wish our school offered french! We only have german, spanish, and latin. So next year I'm going to be in German 2 and latin 1, I really don't like spanish for some reason. xD
