Suggestion~

in Site Feedback & Ideas

Hiya! I've been on Egg Cave for a long time, got some creatures, traded a lot, talked with friends... And I love this site. But there is one flaw that causes users to quit and makes this site hard to come back to. That flaw is starving creatures/creature death.

I know this game is supposed to be optimized, or a nice place to chat with online friends or adopt creatures, but the creature starvation and death is sort of destroying the point of that. I wish creatures would live forever and never die as this place would have a lot less complaining/quitting.

@Ian, I hope you approve of this idea, as many people are quitting and complaining all across the site.

Thank you for listening to my little rant as I'm just helping the site.

(and please, no rude comments saying this idea is terrible and I should just find a different site and quit this one. It can really bring people down and actually compel them to really quit. That is why @xx-nobody-xx is so inactive)

@savordajor

The point of this website is to *take care* of your creatures. And when you don't take care of something living, it dies.

Immortalizing creatures isn't that hard at all. If someone quits because their pet died, it's usually their fault. For not feeding and taking care of their creatures. And if there is a real reason why you couldn't get online, and your creature dies, they can be revived.

It wouldn't be fun if all creatures were immortal from the get go.

@bubblez

I see your point, but there will *still be* a happiness bar. I think a reasonable thing to do instead of death would be to give an alert that your creature is very unhappy and take some EC from you and put that creature in Tim's for a day.

@savordajor If they were all immortal from the beginning, what would be the point of collecting views, clicks and feeds? Immediate immortalization would defeat the purpose of egg cave, and would take out a lot of the fun 😊

@savordajor

I think that they made the creatures able to die, so that players would come on daily to feed them, and therefore be more active. Making them immortal from the start kinda defeats the point of having to come on and feed them, plus, it eliminates all the competitions for immortalizing.

@savordajor

When your creature is unhappy, there *is* an alert. You have ample of time to put your creature in Tim's before it dies.

If creatures couldn't die, then there would be no need for levels. And everyone's hard work would be a complete waste of time.

And on another point, some users want their eggs to die. So this would defeat those accounts they use so their eggs die.

Please look at my response to @bubblez. The point would be to evolve your creatures. And if your creature was immortal, then you wouldn't use Tim.

@savordajor

I think you're missing the whole point of *why* creatures can die.

It's more than just evolving your creatures. It's about taking care of them.

@bubblez

OK, OK. But think. If a 5-year-old just stumbled across this site, do you think they would actually LISTEN to the people who say that they need to take care of their creatures? NO. And if your creature was immortal, would you take care of it any more? NO. See my point?

@bubblez

It also gives kids a chance to learn how to be responsible for their belongings/pets and such. C:

@savordajor

We're not telling you that the idea is terrible, nor are we telling you to quit. What I'm trying to say, is that it would ruin the point of holding competitions, and working hard to level up your creature.

@savordajor

A 5 year old shouldn't be online, imo. Most (little) kids shouldn't. But that's neither here nor there.

Anyhow, if they don't listen to what people tell them, then that's on them. This doesn't mean creatures should automatically be immortal.

I have three(3) accounts full of immortal creatures. I take care of them. Many people still take care of them. Many users still book them in Tim's.

Mortal creatures are babies. You must feed babies. Once the creature is immortal, they're are adults and can get their own food. So for those who don't take care of immortal creatures, they don't have to. Their creatures are adults & adults take care of themselves.

@fuzzykins412

Yes, yes it does. For the most part 😋

Taking care of your creatures so they don't die has been one of the points of this game from the beginning. For the first couple years of this site there was no immortality either. So your pets could die no matter what level they where. Taking care of your creatures and keeping them alive is an integral part of the site.

Ian introduced immortality as a goal to be worked for. Something you could do to keep your most precious creatures safe from dying. Once you reach that goal with a creature then you no longer have to worry about it anymore. You can rest easy that your most precious creatures will survive if you can't get online to feed them. Making everything "insta-immortal" will take that away and move this site away from its purpose, feeding and taking care of your creatures.

OK. @orderedchaos, do what you do best.

@savordajor I wasn't calling this a "sucky idea", I was pointing out things that it didn't appear that you considered when you made your first post. That's part of the reason people share suggestions it to get people's opinions and to refine the idea to make it work.

This is still a valid suggestion, so I'm going to leave the topic open for discussion. Perhaps something does need to be changed with immortality, perhaps not. That's part of the discussion of this suggestion.

@savordajor

I think its a good idea! But, I must say, taking care of your creat's prevents them from dying. Like REAL animals. You need to work hard to keep them alive. The point of the site is to, A, keep your creatures alive, and, B, take care of them, and, C, work your way up to ultra-rare creatures. C:

I think it's a good- no, awesome- idea, but then it would destroy the meaning of the site.
