She should have more fun?! Was this mare an idiot?! "Just like you'll forget me... Everypony will forget. It'll be like I was never here... Like I never left Cloudsdale. Nopony's going to miss me." Shadow flew higher into the air, a crazed expression in her eye. "No more pain!" She shouted, and stopped flapping. The filly hurtled towards the ground. "You won, Mommy." She whispered to herself.

Midnight Splash used her magic to create a soft landing for SHadow. "I'll never forget you!" SHe vowed. "And I won't go or make any pony go if you don't come. The fate of Equestria rests on this descision if you come!" She knew she was being overly dramatic, but hey, it helps! "I'll make sure we have a day each year to remember you if you leave. So you better not leave! Otherwise ponies will be wondering about you and.." She paused, "Pitying you."

Shadow stopped short, looking at the ground in shock. Why wasn't she dead? Why wasn't her body laying on the ground, broken and bleeding? "I don't care for pity. I don't care that nopony will remember my name..." She muttered, realizing something. "I just want my mommy." She turned from Midnight Splash and walked off, ignoring the mare's life-saving kindness mainly because Shadow didn't trust herself to thank the unicorn without falling to pieces. Of course, Shadow was already broken.

"Sure." Lightning replied, slightly mischievously. She flexed her wings. It couldn't hurt, right? Besides, she needed something to do during the week before scouting started. Running races against an Earth Pony, who were known for their endurance and strong hooves, seemed like a good challenge. "You're on!"

"Actually, she wouldn't care." Shadow turned back. "She'd just tell me how much you probably hate me. She'd tell me that I deserved that treatment. She'd tell me she hates me." Shadow frowned. "I know you want to help. But I don't know if anything can really fix me anyways."

Cinnamon Dust grinned at the pegasus. It always brought himi joy when he could make another pony smile. If Pinkie can't be here, he could at least try. After excusing himself from his parents, the two bolted out the door.

"Race you to that hill!" he laughed, changing the pace of his trot to a full blown gallop.

It was a close call, and they wouldn't have known who won if it weren't from a pony who judged from afar. Lightning Bolt won their little race dur to her speed, but Cinnamon endured the race without even breaking a sweat. It was quite a fun day, that was.

That was last week, and now it was time to go. After a tearful goodbye to his parents, the grey stallion set off. He brought with him the necessary traveling bag, his cutie-mark sewn on both sides.

Cinnamon Dust had stuck with the group for a while now and now everyone had run towards where Shadow had ran away during rollcall.. Now everyone was watching the fiasco between Midnight Splash and Shadow.

"You both!" shouted the head scout. "We have no time for drama-queen action. You signed up for this task to help do what's right for Equestria, and now all you do is fool around?! Why did you even sign up for this anyway?"

Cinnamon Dust bit his lip, then walked softly over to Shadow.

"Shadow?" he asked, walking next to the little filly. "I know what you're going through is really hard for you, and if you want I could walk you home so you can rest."

He found it ironic that Shadow would want her mother, and then saying that all she did was abuse her. Must be a mother-complex.

"You're not obliged to come with us at all if you have second thoughts - after all, it IS a dangerous journey."

Shadow looked over at the scout leader, a slight anger simmering underneath. "I signed up for this because I wants to do something right for once. I..." Shadow sighed. "I can do this." She brushed past Cinnamon Dust and hid among the crowd of scouts, cheeks reddening with embarrassment. /Great going./ She thought to herself. /Now they'll all think you're nuts!/ She tried to hide. Oh, why'd she mess everything up? Why did her temper ruin everything? Couldn't she just do something right? Once?

The leader glared down at Shadow. "As if you expect me to believe that after such a crude display. To do something right? Running away from rollcall and wallowing yourself in self-pity is the exact opposite!!" The leader scolded in frustration. As Shadow hid into the crowd, the ponies surrounding her backed off a bit nervously. Their leader wasn't done with her and they didn't want to get yelled at either.

"Now PLEASE, from now on you two, make yourself useful. Scouting is absolutely not a game, especially for little fillies. If the both of you do something like this again, we will have to discharge you out of the mission!" The mare leader trotted off in front, mumbling to herself how she was expecting too much after all from these young ones.

Cinnamon Dust scratched the back of his mane. They haven't even begun and already there was stress. Not wanting to offend Shadow anymore, he trotted past the filly to find Lightning Bolt.

The group started to head into the Everfree Forest.

"Oh well, I guess I could give this to midnight moon..." She looked at her sallad and started walking to her home. Cookie put the salad and some water in her bag incase she got thirsty.
Cookie took her map and started walking to manehatten but she stopped on her way looking at the scouts. "Maybe I should sign up too since the others have..." She walked to the scouts and signed up for the scouts. "Excuse me? Just wondering... what are we going to do on this scout?" She looked at them with her big curious eyes.

Spearmint was at the back of the group, her saddlebags with her cutie mark buttons strapped onto her back - it did not cover her wings, and so was able to fly above the group. "I'm gonna fly over the trees to check on any signs of danger, guys." notified Spearmint, spreading out her wings, ready for take off. "I'll come back as soon as possible." She jumped off the ground and zoomed through the thick tree branches, wanting to see the clear blue sky.

"It's beautiful out here!" she exclaimed. Just then there was a rustling ahead. "What's that?"

The leader gave Spearmint her permission and the group went deeper and deeper into the forest, other scouts keeping an eye on the mint-green pony.

Suddenly, they heard a rustle in the distance..

Lightning Bolt bolted out of bed, taking a quick glance at her alarm clock. Gahhhh! She was nearly an hour late for scouting!!! She grabbed a few objects, zipping around her room so fast that she made a slight blue trail behind her and blew a bunch of papers off her desk. After plopping the various items into a pair of saddle bags, she closed the lightning bolt-shaped clasps and jerked them onto her back. She zipped to the area where they were supposed to meet for scouting. Of course, everyone had left already. She quickly flew around the area before going back up into the sky. Where could they be? She did a quick fly-by of Ponyville before she saw a trail of ponies leading into the Everfree Forest. Of course! Lightning flew into the Everfree Forest, landing lightly on the ground slightly behind the group. She hurried forward until she found Cinnamon Dust and fell in step beside him. "Hey," She said, slightly out of breath. "What'd I miss?"
