A lot of creatures on eggcave that are the most wanted are retired, like Doovoos, Nyms, Corphexs, etc. With a lot of these creatures the numbers are dwindling because of either old users not logging in anymore and the creatures dying or that and them not being revived and abandoned. I thought that bringing back three retired creatures twice a year (different ones both times) would give users a chance to get creatures they really want but have no hope of getting. It would go like: Users vote on the three creatures they'd want to see back the most. After two weeks of voting, the votes are tallied up and the next month the three creatures are brought back in a different shop. The shop, or rather home, would be called a Retired Nursery and would be run by a Harpis. The creatures voted on would be there as eggs again. The home would only open for four hours on one day every six months, on a random day no one would know of until the site blog announced it was open. Because of worries about the creatures losing rarity, the creatures would be able to be bought for twice the amount of CC as the cash shop monthlies, or more than that depending on the rarity (but no more than 3500 CC a creature), and with the short time span the amount of creatures bought would probably stay somewhat low and controlled. Each user is can only buy one of the creatures in the home, and only one of them to avoid mass buying and trading, along with the fact that you are only ever able to buy three creatures from the shop. For example, if the shop has opened three times and you've bought a creature once every one of those three times, the fourth time it opens you can't buy anymore. After the four hours are up, the home closes and the creatures are once again retired. Then votes are taken again for the next six months. Creatures already featured in the Retired Nursery couldn't be revoted on, and would be gone forever once again. I think it'd be a good idea for the users who missed the dates of a creature's release or could never get a creature who's trader would want around 8000 CC or more for the creature.

@ami_utsukushiiI think bringing back retired creatures would definitely bring the economy to a weird state. If people had Doovoos, they would not be as rare as they are or macbots. Plus, I think the EC team are already working on something like this with the thief shop in Leila. As in the eggs would have retired creatures and common creatures, making it a little more difficult just to straight up buy a retired creature. If users suddenly had Olimpts, the price for my Olimpt would drop drastically enough that the incentive for getting an Olimpt or being an older user becomes invalid.
netherling • 10 October 2014 at 3:01 PM
@hippyWell yeah, I understand that with the price, but I was looking at the fact that a although it is rare to have an Olimpt, it's impossible to get, and I know there are people that'd really like to have one -including me because it's an amazing creature, you're so lucky *0* lol- but there's a 0% chance of it happening unless they want to spend a lot of money on one and sometimes not even that would get them one. My little bro ( @deaththekid1 ) on the site kinda gave me the idea when he saw a Spookcat and wanted one really badly until he saw it was retired and didn't realize the chance of getting one was very slim if not nonexistent for him since he hasn't been on long and he's young so he didn't really see why. I was thinking the random timing and short time span would limit the amount of creatures bought, but that's just me.
hippy • 10 October 2014 at 3:06 PM
@ami_utsukushiiI just got an Olimpt two weeks ago, its all about patience and being at the right place, right time. There is a chance of getting it and thats what makes the trading community in this game very enjoyable, rewarding, and competitive. Just handing retired creatures for whoever has the most money to spend is kind of pointless and I know would make a few people leave, including myself. Whats the point of working hard for my creatures if some kid could just buy it and drop the value of the creature I worked hard for down? Random timing or not, people would find a way and it would overload with retired creatures. Also, the thief shop I'm pretty sure will have something to solve this problem in a better way, incorporating luck into the pick. As in, not all eggs will be retired creatures.
deaththekid1 • 10 October 2014 at 3:10 PM
im gonna try to get one like that, if I can get a spookcat by waiting I'll do it. im gonna try that sis, but I do like your idea a lot.
mastergemma • 10 October 2014 at 5:11 PM
@ami_utsukushiiIf this was going to happen it would really separate the CC to EC users again. If there was a way, then maybe an EC option but the amount be very very large. Maybe the EggCaveTeam can choose a few breeds of creatures and then have the users to choose species, because then it would just be the Onny, Nym and Tine majority of the time.Overall, I'm not too happy with the idea of these creatures being obtainable again. Creatures become unobtainable for a reason
netherling • 10 October 2014 at 10:40 PM
I really just think they should take the accounts that haven't been active for years and maybe let those creatures go to users. That'd keep it within the amount already bought and out to users. But meh. Fine.
univea • 10 October 2014 at 11:46 PM
@ami_utsukushiiI think creatures for accounts that have been inactive too long should just go to the Adoption Center. I understand the users might come back, though. Maybe after two or three years?
netherling • 10 October 2014 at 11:54 PM
@univeaMaybe, some could and some couldn't. And I think they should too, they should have something for it but as I heard above, they are doing something like it.
arty10 • 11 October 2014 at 2:33 AM
@ami_utsukushiiMaybe users can deactivate their accounts and then their creatures will go the the Dragold den to be won in March along with EC.
chocovampire • 11 October 2014 at 4:00 AM
@ami_utsukushii Your idea is great but I think we don't really need that. We already have the Oasis, and it is unfair that it is opened in some hours but not the whole day so it is unfair to those who are not online at that time. It is also unfair to those who can't use CC. So even though the shop is opened when they're online they still can't anything.
mightyeglantine • 11 October 2014 at 6:47 AM
@ami_utsukushii In my honest opinion this is a terrible idea as it devalues the creatures that some have worked their entire time on eggcave to get. I've noticed with the newer "generation" of users that they seem to like to put more energy into complaining about having to get a creature than actually working to get the creature. This is about the bazillionth idea to get retired creatures circulating again. I've seen people obtain their dream coves, or dream creatures, but these people worked and traded and haggled their way to the creature they wanted. Re-released creatures would slowly disrupt the egg-conomy, it happened once, it'll happen again.I personally joined a little more than 4 years ago, I joined with the soul purpose of earning an Olimpt. I didn't obtain an Olimpt until my 3rd year. Dedication will separate those whom are willing to work and those who aren't. Natural selection is a wonderful thing.@univea It's actually pretty selfish to decide that a users creatures be taken from them and given to others. I know some users who have quit but still kept their favorite immortal creatures because they want a memory of what their cove had once been. It would actually be pretty shameful to stoop that low and take a retired users creatures. Now I understand there are dying coves, and that contributes a ton to the extinction of species but that is no different.(Sorry if I sound rude, I'm just fed up with people suggestion very similar things.)
netherling • 11 October 2014 at 1:18 PM
@arty10 I think that's a really good idea actually. @mightyeglantinewell we've established it probably is a bad idea already. But we're going onto different ideas so...im looking at those now. I keep thinking that once everyone who's willing to trade a creature and everyone who gets a creature they won't trade, that creature will stop being traded and so there won't be a chance of getting them anymore. I'm sure something will end up fixing that but that's the future and we'll see how that goes.
jazzyleia • 11 October 2014 at 1:28 PM
@ami_utsukushiiThis has been suggested before (and even happened one year for Christmas) and there was a lot of back-lash at Ian for doing it. In the end, no matter what users suggest, it will more than likely never happen. This is a game, pixels that mean nothing. If you want to complain about the trading here than fine but it is just like life. Nothing is free in life and you have to work for everything you want. I have been here four years, had multiple rare critters, and I have traded them all before and now I want them again. It just depends on how patient you are for a game. Also, taking away a person's critters who hasn't been on for years is actually just rude. I know multiple users that have been gone for two years or more and are finally coming back. How would you feel if all of your creatures were gone when you came back? I know I would be upset.*Sorry if this sounded rude but I am also with @mightyeglantine about how much this is always brought up each year*
netherling • 11 October 2014 at 1:38 PM
@jazzyleiaWell that's always something I realized, the whole "this is just the internet and they're pixels" thing, but that doesn't stop people from getting upset and flipped out over stuff. I could go on about it but I don't want anyone complaining about anything I said. I'm not complaining either, just stating a fact.
metaphor • 11 October 2014 at 2:35 PM
There's no use trying to convince this community that re-releases of any kind are a good idea. They hear the word and then clutch their virtually unobtainables as though you just told them they're going to take them away and never give them back.I don't agree with this state of mind. I don't think it's practical given the platform of EC and how its economy runs, but meh. Nobody gets it.
univea • 11 October 2014 at 10:44 PM
@mightyeglantine I agree with you. I was trying to say something like that, too, but I didn't know how to put it. I honestly don't see any kind of solution to this problem that doesn't involve disappointing a large group of people. Everyone always complains about this, but that doesn't mean anything will change, or that anything needs to change. @ami_utsukushiiI think that if you want rare creatures, you should get creatures that come out now and take good care of them until they're retired or endangered, just like everyone else did a long time ago. That's why those creatures are rare, because they made sure they didn't die and stuck around until there weren't many left.
vespira • 12 October 2014 at 11:17 AM
@ami_utsukushii I actually think it's not a bad idea. But there should be a limit as to how many are released since, like most people say, rarities would become imbalanced. Personally, I really want a Foo since when I first joined, they were already retired. However, they were re-released and unfortunately, I was on vacation with no wifi when this happened. By the time I got back, they were retired again. Ever since, I've just been lamenting over it. So yeah, I think it's okay as long as there's a limit to how many are brought back. And the time limit is good too.
ethereality • 12 October 2014 at 11:26 AM
@ami_utsukushiiNot really a supporter because:@mightyeglantineAgreed. I joined like a little more than 3 years on my first account. Newer users don't understand the value of the older retired pets and how to get them. After all these years, I've gotten a few beautiful creatures, a furrepe, a staga, a swornt, a balrog, and mimic. People have to work hard to get these beautiful creatures. No free ticket to wonderful creatures.
netherling • 12 October 2014 at 12:35 PM
@charm556 That's what I was trying to get at lol, like as long as the number was limited they'd still be rare but they'd be obtainable by a small chance. Everyone worries about the rarity of the creature, happy when other people freak out over what they have, but when they hear the idea of that creature being brought back, they start panicking cause they see once it happens that they won't have the "boasting rights" of having an older retired creature or however you want to put it. I know the feeling of having something retired that someone wants, but I kinda feel bad turning them down on a trade especially when they badly want one and weren't here when they were released.
vespira • 12 October 2014 at 12:38 PM
@ami_utsukushii Yes, yes. I'm just making sure.((: I mean, I don't want to upset the balance too much, but I don't want to make it impossible to obtain. And I know the feeling as well. I've been around for 4 years and have had a lot of people asking to trade for older, retired creatures. I had to turn them down as well since I don't have duplicates I can give away.
trig • 12 October 2014 at 12:43 PM
@ami_utsukushiiI do not like this idea.
netherling • 12 October 2014 at 12:58 PM
@trig well neither do the majority of the people above, I've figured it won't be liked by many.@charm556I don't want to either, just make them slightly more obtainable. 😋 like, I want a Nym (like a lot of people lol) cause it's literally the being of everything I love (wolves, the moon, the colors blue, purple, and white) and I freaked out when I first saw it. Then I found out how hard it was to get, seeing how people wanted 8000 CC or more for it and I'm just like.....Whoa, that's kinda a lot of money.
vespira • 12 October 2014 at 1:13 PM
@ami_utsukushii Don't worry. The same thing happens to me when I try to look for a Foo for myself. Like you and the Nym, Foos embody everything that is me - cunning, foxes, autumn colors. And people ask for huge sums of money and I just can't afford it.
netherling • 12 October 2014 at 1:35 PM
@charm556Mmhm, and if you don't have the money they normally want creatures you don't have and that's another thing that makes them hard to get. I mean, I'll spend $100 on a nym if it'll come through my screen and live with me lol. But I'd love to have it on here through maybe.....$40 at the most if /anything/
dionaea • 12 October 2014 at 4:47 PM
I don't like the fact that this is fully CC dependent and only the ones most desired will be released, everyone should be able to get their dreamy, no matter what creature they want, even if they can't get CC. I'm way more into a points saving system that rewards coming to eggcave.
ethereality • 12 October 2014 at 4:56 PM
@ami_utsukushiiYou ignored me because...
jazzyleia • 12 October 2014 at 5:16 PM
To add to my earlier comment, I would like to point out that not everyone here on EggCave gets CC. I have never gotten CC in my life and look how far I am. You need to be patient and running into something will more than likely not pay out in the end. Sorry but, as many users have said, this will more than likely never happen because too many people would be upset by it.
ethereality • 12 October 2014 at 5:53 PM
@jazzyleia I haven't gotten CC as well. 😊 I work really hard to get these creatures. But you need to be patient, @ami_utsukushii
hippy • 12 October 2014 at 6:10 PM
I've gotten CC before, but not a large amount. Once I got started with my first CSP, everything kind of just came together... But most of my deals like my Olimpt and Koalyptus I scouted out and waited for good trades xD
