I gaped at Lilyfoot.
"YES!!!" I cried. Everyone cheered and my whole body went completely red. (Except for my fur, of course.) It was the second happiest moment of my life. (The happiest was when I was born) 😉

I clapped as hard as I could for Lilyfoot and Leopardfoot. I felt really happy that they were mates now. I went over to them.

She looked at the mates. She felt happy for them. But seeing them together made her feel so lonely. She hoped that one day she could be like that. But she faced the fact that with only a few males in the clan, she may be doomed mateless. She pushed that thought out of her head and walked towards the couple. "Congratulations! May you be happy for years to come!", she said.

"Oh, yeah i'm fine", she said lying. "Well... I feel like I might never get a mate, like I will be mateless forever." She scolded herself. why did she let that slip out so quickly? "But, that's stupid. Lots of cats end up mateless. It's just how things work."

Fawnstripe smiled at the happy cats around her. Mating wasn't really her thing, she quietly sat there among the other cats, a large black Tom cat came up beside her and sat down. "Is it nice to be deputy?" The male cat asked, without looking at her. "Yes it is, Blacktail." She said, turning her head away and stared ahead. Blacktail was her older brother, well, half brother. They had different mothers. He was older than her by two moons so he had already become a warrior where as she had only recently become a warrior. He seemed a bit jealous that she was deputy instead of him, he'd been after that spot sense he got his warrior name. Fawnstripe sighed, then looked over at him. He was quite a handsome cat, he had sleek black fur and very bright emerald green eyes, his ears were tipped white and the pads of his paws are black. He wasn't the kindest sort of cat though, he was a bit cold and didn't really let many people in, usually giving everyone the cold shoulder.

"You really want a mate?" I searched her face. I could see the longing in her eyes. "I only realised a short while ago, but, you know, you don't have to have a mate to be happy. Friends, or even just one person that cares about you, means that you have a good enough life. But of course, the more friends, the better, right?" I gave her a reassuring smile. I hoped that I didn't sound like I was trying to convince her not to have a mate.

It would be nice, but it wasn't a nessisity. "So," she said to Lotusflower, "will you be my friend?" she gave a warm smile.

Fawnstripe listened to the other cats conversation, there was no doubt she was an eavesdropper. What Lotusflower said was true, friends are better than relationships. Friendships where much better. Blacktail flicked his tail and stood up, looking at Fawnstripe as he noted that she seemed more grounded, no longer staring at the sky but instead she was deep in thought. He began toward the fresh-kill pile, passing by Lotusflower and Rustfur. He glanced over at them, slowing down a little, then going back to normal pace as he headed to the pile of carcasses. He looked through it, there wasn't much to choose from; Two mice, a squirrel, an Adder and a robin. He settled on a mouse and picked it up and headed over to a isolated corner of the camp.

Lilyfoot was absolutely embarrased to death when her clanmates cheered for her, but she was also too happy to feel bad. She was going to have a mate! She purred happily, leaning against Leopardfoot.
This was the HAPPIEST moment of her life! 😊

I peeked at the creek from between the bushes. A wild rabbit was having some water at the moment. For some reason, today I didn't really feel like killing other innocent animals... apart from rats, I guess.
"Do you want to catch that rabbit? I'll get rats, if that's ok with you," I said to Rustfur.

After a while of trying to do Warrior duties, I felt a little... uncomfortable. I had a few little spazes of pain now and then, and I felt a little tired. Not the normal kind, no. I felt like doing a simple job was too tiring, and I was afraid I was sick, or growing too old.

I noticed Leopardfoot behind me , "I think she should see the medicine cat." I said real quick. I noticed Blackspots walking towards us, "Come with me lilyfoot, and no Leopardfot don't come." Blacksmiths said. I also noticed Leopardfoot coming, but when Blackspots said don't come, he stoped in his paw steps. I started to wonder if I was a great leader. "Could I do better being a leader?" I just noticed I accidentally said that out loud, I suddenly put my paws over my muzzle.

Rustfur wondered why Lotusflower didn't want to hunt rabbits for a minute, then shrugged it off. If she didn't want to hunt rabbits, she didn't have to hunt rabbits. "Ok," she whispered, not wanting to spook the rabbit. "just be careful with rats. My uncle lost a eye to one of those things!" And with that she got in the hunting crouch, and skillfully leaped on the rabbit, giving it a fatal blow to the windpipe. "You died for a good cause rabbit." she murmered to it. "I thank you, for now we won't starve." Rustfur always gave a little pray to the animals she killed. She felt that they deserved it. She buried the rabbit so nothing would eat it, then looked for more prey.

Fawnstripe sniffed the air, she smelled something strange in the breeze that flew by. She quickly followed the scent, it grew stronger and she immediately recognized the smell... It was the smell of death... She bolted toward the smell, that's when she came upon a body. It was a kittypet, the collar still on it. The kittypet had it's throat slashed open and it's eyes where wide with terror. Fawnstripe took a little step back, trying to compose herself. "Oh... Starclan help us..." She muttered, then turned and burst into a sprint back toward the camp. The smell of death still clouded in her nose. She seen Frecklestar and ran to her. "Frecklestar! There has been a killing in our territory!" Fawnstripe said, out of breath.
