Idea for Repeating Eggs

Hello Eggcave!

I have an idea for the easter egg hunt I think you guys might like.

The repeated eggs- there should really be some consolation for all the repeats. I realize the idea of the repeats is to make the egg hunt challenging, however, many users find the repeated eggs frustrating and disappointing after spending hours and hours searching. And after all, in a real easter egg hunt, you keep all the eggs you find- why not do the same for this egg hunt?

So, what if we had a tally counting how many repeats you find? When you click on an egg you've already found, the pop up box could say something like, "Congrats! That's the 19th peeyu you've found. You now have a grand total of 33 extra eggs!"

You go to the easter egg hunt page- you see that you only need a few more repeated eggs until you can exchange them for an exclusive travel! Each repeated egg counts towards the grand total, regardless of the species. When a user has found, say, 50, they can turn over their extra eggs for one the travels.

This solves the irritation association with the repeated eggs by transforming them into a fun bonus to the egg hunt. Now not only do you want to find all the eggs and earn the exclusive creature, but ambitious users can keep the fun going by finding more eggs for travels. And finding a repeated egg won't be such a bummer- it only adds to the fun!

So, what do you guys think?

I'd really love if this was implemented.
It might make the event a little fun instead of a chore.

I just don't feel like it will be implemented.

But I fully support the idea and would love for it to be implemented into next year's Easter Egg Hunt.

I'm sure most people would support this and love it, I just have a feeling it will either not be implemented or it'd get twisted negatively and make the event worse somehow.

But I really hope it gets implemented the way you have it explained.

I think this is a fantastic idea! 😃

I can't even count how many duplicate eggs I've found... It would be nice if I could actually do something with them, instead of just receiving another dose of disappointment from each one I find.

I have to say I do support and like this idea. However, some things were going to be done this year (but I can't tell you XD) but there would have been more things to get. Things happened and life got busy for all of us but rest assured we have some things planned for next year already. 😃

Edit: But maybe something like this could be added as well.

Hopefully! The events are one of the only things to do one Egg Cave so it's a bummer when they aren't fun.

And I'm so curious about what you guys have planned next year- it could be really exciting if you could do what you have planned plus the repeating eggs idea! Oh I bet you were going to add some items, like the valentine's event? Okay, keep your secrets ^^

And RL happens- I'm glad the travels at least could be part of this year's egg hunt, that was a great addition.

An idea kind of borrowing a concept from another site's egg hunt, although it's not the same (their egg hunt is a completely different format altogether): perhaps you can trade in so many repeat eggs for an egg you need. For instance, say you need a Cachnid egg but have found at 5+ Peeyu eggs, 2+ nuomeks, and 3+ Ringtails (or whatever). You can trade it those 10 extra eggs for 1 egg you need. Or maybe more or less, depending on what staff feel would be right. I think that would be fair. It keeps you searching for eggs, but at least you can trade extras in for ones you actually need rather than spending whole days trying to find those last three eggs you need but to no avail.

That's a good idea! And I think it would work in tandem with mine, too 😃 Egg cave's whole thing with the repeats is to make the hunt more challenging. I think if the exchange rate was high enough, it wouldn't threaten the challenge of the repeating eggs.

So, this could be another option! Trade extra eggs for one you're missing or exchange them for a travel, or some other prize. Thanks for the input 😊

@inkpelt 😃 Yeah this is pretty cool. 😊 The exchanging for a travel idea would be a bit unfair, if they gave you the unobtainable ones... So maybe like the newer TA travels they could hand out and stuff. 😃 Maybe for the unobtainable ones, then you can trade them in for an unbtainable and stuff, but one for one, I dunno. 😋 ❤️ I do say I like the idea of this. 😃 ❤️

I was thinking the exchange would be like in other events. So, like in the Chocotravaganza, we had to have 50 chocolates to get an exclusive travel or item? I was thinking you could run into so many repeating eggs that once you found enough of them, you could exchange them for an exclusive travel 😊 I think 50 eggs would be pretty fair, so it wouldn't be just one egg for a travel. That would be too easy!

Thank you! I'm glad she like it too, so you're right at least the idea will get heard. But she did say they had more planned, they just ran out of time. So there definitely will be something to look forward to for next year 😊 Hopefully this will be one of those things 😃

I like a challenge but I also don't like having to waste 1 hour of my time just to find one egg, if that. It makes it more frustrating then enjoyable.

Another site I am on also has an egg hunt on. It lasts for longer and there is 5 different eggs to collect. The common 3 eggs are white, brown and dark, these eggs hatch different creatures for a set amount of each of the 3 eggs. These are fairly easy to obtain.

Then there is 2 hard to find eggs to get 2 rarer creatures. You need about 100 or 150 of 1 of these eggs to unlock the corresponding rare creature while they are harder to find then the other 3 eggs it is still easier to find them than any egg on eggcave and you have a longer period of time to collect the creatures 2 weeks? So while it is challenging and I haven't got the rarer creatures yet after 1 week I feel like I am making good progress unlike here on egg cave.

I don't wanna sound too pessimistic about the eggcave hunt, I love this site but I reckon the egg hunt should be tweaked.

I agree about the amount of time it takes to find an egg. Maybe if egg cave made the drop more frequent? What do you think about trading in the repeating eggs for prizes?

I would love it if the drops were just a little bit more frequent, like I said I want a challenge and don't wanna be finding eggs all the time, but for me the egg finding is like finding hens teeth at the moment.

Trading in repeating eggs for prizes is a good idea, if I was even lucky enough to get repeats lol. Again I think the trade ratio amount should be reasonable.

P.S I REALLY enjoyed the Chocotravaganza event 😃

I like yours ideas, @inkpelt and @metaphor! It make egg hunting more interesting. Especially because it must lasting a hole week, but many people already complete it. With your ideas it wiil be a hole week of fun!

@jazzyleia I know that life can mess things up really badly and stop great things from happening and that sucks. Sad to hear that. ☹️
But if this edition of the egg hunt was incomplete I think the Egg Cave team shouldn't be surprised about all the negative feedback this hunt gets. Quite the opposite.

Someone should have altered the hunt to make it fewer eggs required or at least something, because this form of hunting got a real bashing already last year.
Releasing the "new" version half finished and thus making it even worse than last year - and then even tell people off when they complain (at least one mod does this, no names mentioned though) that's just badly handled.

And just to be clear, Jazzyleia, I don't mean this to you personally and I don't want to be mean, but the site management as a whole should consider why this event was actually rather mean to the users, if you feel like passing that on. 😊

I don't believe in all the repeats.
An Easter Egg Hunt is a hunt for Easter Eggs that have been hidden around a 'property' and kids run around to find them. There are no repeats.

When Easter Egg Hunts were incorporated into Egg Cave, they were fun, except that most people cheated. The answers were plastered all over the place. I never liked that either.

Hide 20 eggs as before and let us find them. NO CHEATING. Meaning, if there is a forum thread with answers, get rid of it.

What fun is an Easter Egg Hunt when there are 100s of repeats ... ? Makes no sense to me and makes the 'fun' seem obsolete. It's only frustrating and bad for the eyes.

It's also not really an Easter Egg Hunt when you can open a zillion tabs of one page and just keep clicking.

So let's actually have to find strategically placed eggs like before.

That's my vision

I was actually just thinking something similar. Like for Halloween when we redeem the seeds for different prizes.

I actually really enjoy this search, better then the eggs fixed on specific pages. I just wish that eggs would pop up even after we found them all and that we could do something with them.

Not like we could gather the whole set 2 or 3 times for 3 creatures, but like items or travels. Or stat bonuses. Like get 50 views/feeds/clicks and you pick the creature you want to receive it. And views would cost less eggs then feeds and something similar.

I really enjoy the search too, rather than on the specific pages. It's more exciting, it just gets dull when you get towards the end. I think you have a good idea there too, using the extra eggs for stat bonuses 😊

@inkpelt I do like this idea, really I do. If they did that and made the eggs a tad bigger and easier to find I would enjoy the hunt more. Let's just say I traded for the creature because I was annoyed with the event. Hours of looking and no eggs= me being mad. But if they did this then it wouldn't be as bad.

Absolutely love this idea 😃 Especially since I only need to find four more eggs and have gotten to the point that clicking a repeat egg is a waste of my time o-o If I could get a travel, or as @metaphor suggested an egg I need, I'd be more than happy to click them, but there's no pay off for the annoying little buggers in an event where the creature and unobtainable travel are, to me at least, just barely, if at all, worth it >.<

While this is a cool idea for making repeats fun, I hate the idea of repeats. I don't see the point. The eggs already appear way too far apart, it's hard enough to find one egg on a casual basis without all the eggs being repeated.

I agree @novrain62 and have the eggs strategically placed. Maybe the locations are randomised for each user, so no cheating would be possible, but once you've found it, you've found it. It would also feel more like a hunt, because you narrow down the search.
