She bends down on one knee and lifts her wrist and checks her pulse. “Malen..?” Nova shakes her lightly to make sure she is okay. ‘I hope he is okay.. I’m afraid for his life...’

Raina raced into the clearing, panting. "I heard a gunshot. What happened?" She looked down at Malen and gasped. "Is he okay? Did they get another one of us..."

At that remark, Jaela noticed one of her own wings hurt. She ignored it, with some difficulty. "I hope he is. The hunter," Jaela grimaced. "Got both his wings. He's lost a lot of blood." She looked down at the unconscious Malen.

She glances at the two and mutters somthing under her breath.“....gosh...” Nova unfolds her wings and gets up. “I’m going to the city.. I have to get supplies to help him..”

Lyon attempted to follow Raina to the accident, but she was moving much quicker than he was and ended up losing track of her. "Great... now I'm lost..." Lyon sighs. He doesn't want to fly and risk getting seen by other hunters. "Raina?" He calls. "Where are you guys?"

"I'll take him to..." Jaela heard Lyon's voice. "Lyon! We're by the super old and gnarled tree!" She glanced up at the huge tree beside them as she yelled this. Malen started spasming faintly, but enough to scare Jaela badly.

“We gotta get him some kind of help! I’m going.” She hovers in the air and flies over to the small city.

Lyon sighs with relief when he hears Jaela's voice. "Sorry I got a little lost." He laughs. His smile fades when he sees the pools of blood. "What...happened?"

"He happened." Jaela gestures to the dead human. She wiped sweat off Malen's forehead. Her wing hurt, but she'd never show it.

She lands safely in the city without being spotted. She tucks her wings into her shirt and walks into a medical store and grabbed medical pads, pain-killer, and sterilizing pads. She runs over to the counter and sets down a few small golden coins. The cashier looks at her oddly, and takes them and hands her a receipt. Nova nods and walks out of the store. The cashier looks at her strangely and lifts a walkie talkie to his mouth and mumbles.. “Security, come get this strange kid..”

"I'm fine.." Jaela said curtly. She tucked her wings closer. Malen opened his eyes, feeling as though he were only spectating this. He panted, darkness closing in from all sides of his vision.

As she walks out of the door, two armed security guards march out and grab her arms. “Kid, you trying to steal..?” Nova didn’t wanna reveal her her powers, or her wings so she was stuck... She pulled out of their grip and ran out, quickly teleporting with her items. She ran back up to him and started cleaning him up.Spectre launched herself up and ran after Lyon. “Wait up!” She stopped at Malen to help. “What happened?!”

"A human shot him." Jaela said, not trusting the newcomer. Jaela sensed something was off, so she slapped Malen gently and hissed, "Don't you DARE die on me. Lyon, stay with him. I'm going to check on Nova."

“Too late, I’m already here.” She passed the items over to Jaela.Spectre nods, seeing the untrust in her voice.

Jaela glanced at Nova and took the items. She gently picked up one sly-blue bloodstained wing and spread the medicine on it. Then she bandaged it. "Stay with me, Malen." She slapped his cheek again when she saw him start to close his eyes.

"I don't know... Malen!" Jaela said when he abruptly grabbed her hand as she was tying the knot of the wing bandage. Malen yanked her down to him and hissed into her ear. "Find Callum Knoxx. Tell him Malen..." He coughed up a little blood. "Sent you...'' Malen's eyes went blank and glazed over. Jaela stared at him, kneeling in the spreading pool of blood.

Jaela frantically checked his pulse and went pale. "Yeah..." She nodded faintly.

"It wasn't your fault." Jaela stood, a fire sparking in her heart. She wasn't sad about this. She should have been, but she wasn't. She only wanted revenge. "Help me bury him so the animals don't..." Jaela walked a short distance away and started digging with her hands.

As she dig, she thought about Malen's last words... They shouldn't have been. "One of the bullets had to have been poisoned. He shouldn't have died from one bullet in a wing." She said, without even realizing she did.

"Huh? It's because..." Lyon turns his eyes away from her. "They killed my whole tribe... I was the only one who survived..."

"They killed my family... Probably unintentionally, but they still did. When the human doctors saw my wings, they planned to sell me so other humans could experiment on me..." Jaela said bitterly. "I never forgive." She hopped into the 2 foot deep hole to dig more.
