WIN LEPPY CAT

I am looking for the best ACROSTIC poem using the word: leprechaun
For an example and/or definition of an Acrostic poem you can read about that here:
https://www.litcharts.com/literary-devices-and-terms/acrostic

Lest ye beware of an
Ever clever elf,
Pockets filled with gold,
Riches plundered himself.
Elaborately attired with a
Crooked hat of green,
Hatching pranks fit for
An impish queen.
Uncanny in a distinctive frock,
Nir' inconspicuous in shamrock.

Indeed not an easy feat but well worth the effort.

Who has the patience and the determination to win?

@novrain62 Hi! Would be just write our Acrostic poems here? (This reminds me of 5th grade where we were learning about poems & we had to write an Acrostic poem for Spring xD)

My entry:
Leprechuans, indeed seem sparse,
Endeavored for their riches though.
Precious treasures disappears
Right & left, you will not know.
Ever clinging to our greed,
Chances are you will not see,
How they work their magic in
A bundle of mischievousness.
Unmoving in their expenditure,
Never letting one piece go.

OwO I tried my best ^^”

@novrain62
Fun! I’d love to join! Think I’ll do ok as I have a lot of practice from fourth grade ahem ahem.

My entry:
Leaping through the crowd
Enough to create mischief
Placing treasures away
Rainbows they follow
Enchanted beings though they are
Carelessly leaving your goods is a mistake
Hence they are not trusted
Always be on guard
Until they are gone
Never trust a Leprechaun

Oof I swear I used to be good at this stuff, I’ve just gone rusty lol

@novrain62 Oh I def want to enter!! 😊 (and sorry wasn't sure if you mean don't ping others or don't ping you):

Look over yonder carefully and you might be graced to see
Enrobed in a rich, earthy green tis he
Peculiar, mischievous little fae
Ready to play tricks and pull pranks in the light of day
Even you might not be spared
Catch one if you can but do not be ensnared
Hidden deep in the rolling Irish countryside,
A treasure to be found if you're lucky inside
Under the brilliant rainbow and over a wide glen,
Nobody knows what lies in wait but be sure to come again!

@novrain62 Hello, I would like to enter! I’ll edit my post later with my poem:

Light & swift, just like the wind, roaming about on a whim
Every step is for that gold, every heart is foretold
Pranking others just for fun,
Revealing themselves is a no, blending in to the green
Every wonder why you can’t win? Well,
Cheekiness is their gain.
Hurry up, & you may see,
Underneath any tree,
Agape, the devilish elf will gasp, & run away with their treasure.
Never to be seen again

@novrain62 Hi! I would love to enter! 😃

Lucky and filled with pride
Elves scurry around
People don't know where they hide
Rainbows are ought to be where they are bound
Each elf laughing with glee
Coming up with all sorts of fun trickery
Holding on to their history
As far as one can see
Unbelievably making memories
Numbers of them forever in children's reveries

Thank you for doing this! Good luck everyone 😊

@novarain62 I haven't done one of these in years. Thanks for hosting this

Let's not forget
Elfs are a threat
Purses are stole
Right when you're taking a stroll
Even mice are scared
Cause nothing is shared
All that can be done
Undoubtedly run
Never forget.

@novrain62
woah this is cool! i'd love to enter. i've rarely tried my hand at poetry but i'll try my best!

Little hands swiftly swindle and plunder,
Expertly looting with a keen eye for gold.
Perhaps they revel in being watched with wonder,
Relishing being marveled by Arkians young and old.
Each one, though small, has a vast treasure trove,
Collecting EggCoins enough to fund every Cove.
Have you ever spotted these mischievous fiends,
As they gleefully dance in moonlit fields green?
Unlikely, it is, that they're wicked at heart,
Never cruel, only playful, grinning with a wink as they quickly depart.

😊

Deleted • 15 March 2021 at 4:42 PM

@novrain62 Not that great at poetry but I would love to try!

Leaping up, into the sky
Each time, with a careful mind
Preparing for a prank,
Rearing your heart,
Eager to snatch, yet hard to snatch
Coupled with gold,
How many is stolen?
All or none, it’s definitely possible, for
Under the govern of the leprechauns,
No one will leave with a pocket full of gold

Can i enter?

Draft:
Leprechauns and our pots of gold,
Everyone searching for us
Perhaps they might find us
Ruining our reputation
Envy our pots of gold!
Clinging on to the myths
Ha, ha,ha!
All they want is our gold
Until i give it up,
Never trust a leprechaun!

Edited/final version:

Leprechaun, Leprechaun
Evil little trickster
Pesky little goblin!
Run, run, Leprechaun
Ever giving up your gold?
Catch him before he runs off,
"Ha, ha ha!" they shout when your trap fails
And they disapear into thin air!
Until they give up their gold,
Never trust a leprechaun!

Lumps and piles of gold
Every leprechaun hoarded
People searched for it
Racing to find it first
Everybody knows one thing
Chances are very low
Hoards will never be found
As they hide it far far away
Until you find it by luck,
Never get your expectations way too high

@novrain62 Can i join?

Living in the
Evergreen forests below
Playing with their gold
Reaching for shiny objects
Everywhere they go
Can you hear them calling or
Hollering out there
And granting wishes
Under the rainbows
Nobody sees their lairs

@novrain62 I would love to join! Such a clever idea for a competition 😊

Luck grant you favours, fate, and song,
Ere you find yourself due lost;
Pratfall bychance a Leprechaun
Reposed in a hollow mossed.
Espy, an egg - a lavish breed! -
Clocat and gold in wealthy nest
Hidden and cloaked, amongst the reeds;
And tempted even are those bless'd, - but! -
Unless you wish to face his wrath -
Nay, do not try to filch his cache.

That was really fun 😊 And everyone has such good poems! I am loving reading through all of them. ❤️

I didn't read anyone else's poem before I wrote this, let's see where this goes...

Lost at the
End of the rainbow,
Pots of gold nowhere to be found... was it a
Ruse? Most likely.
Escaping now seems impossible, you
Can't see where
Home could be. Someone
Amusedly chuckles, You know you've fallen for it:
Un-luck and trickery of an imp.
Never trust those unsigned maps you find on St. Patrick's day.

Letting go of all worries,
Evening came, hid under a tree,
Put my hat on, when surprised me,
Rainbows, about two or three!
Each one was more beautiful than the last,
Catching up to them was a blast!
Having watching them go by,
About came a butterfly,
Under a log, a came to see,
Nice leprechauns, smiling at me!

☘︎"leprechaun"☘︎

Luck 'tis but a word,
Effort drives ye forward,
Portray humility and humbleness,
Recall thy own roots,
Empowered from our forebearers,
Choose not to begrudge,
Hanker not for gold,
Abandon thoughts of greed,
Utilize your time well,
Nevermore would time turn.

@novrain62 Here's an absolutely gigantic acrostic where Leprechaun is spelled by the first letter of each stanza!

Luck is naught; a touch of fortune
mined for with an open mind,
is sought for in the countryside.
but that’s for day -- it’s passed me by.

Eventide, and twilight-time,
the light is growing dim.
yet not too dim for gold to shine -- too heavy on the skin --
you’ll have it, if you’d bear my din.

Predisposed to dreams of glory;
a romantic sight had I,
‘ere summertime, when that first cry,
precious metals need but to find -- gold! how it rolled through my mind!

Reverberated in my ear!
the call was loud, the sound so sweet,
I heard it. Not just I.
thousands came along with me -- a greatly pouring tide.

Eagerly! so eagerly!
we struck up tents, we made our charts
of places hidden and places dark
the earth that bears the rightest mark -- of a Leprechaun! we’d find it.

Considerable were our efforts, so sizable was our reach.
it was but months afore we achieved
our intended victory --
we could not help but weep with glee, so greatly we succeeded.

Hillside we fled, wagons we led
our treasure we carried beleaguered.
and yet with each step we found ourselves plodding
each footfall more heavy; all features were dropping,

All wheels spun and were still. the gold was too heavy for mortals to carry
though we carried it just fine before.
I rid me of half -- then three-quarters, then more --
but only until my wagon was empty could I drag myself up to your store.

Uneasy you look! why, through an hour of repose
you’ve gained yourself a pound and a half!
a pound and a half! what, want more?
I’ll show you a valley where gold lies galore!

No? why so?

Little bearded men two feet tall,
Elven cobblers all, primly swaddled green,
Pert and mean, ever so vain.
Rainbow markers flag the riches
Even so, one oughta be amply nimble to-
Caught it!- cede the
Hoards of gold.
A small diversion
Under the rock shifts your gaze,
Never look away, else-
