@jazzyleia If you want to breed your dragons, it's best to have a CB (Cave Born) one. Most of the abandoned eggs are NOT Cave Born and have terrible lineages.

If you're not picky about lineages, just ignore this.

I'm trying to breed a 5th Even gen PB Female Waterhorse as my gold tinsel's mate.

I have no luck for trees or nicely lineaged golds.

Cave born dragons are dragons that were stolen from the cave, and have no lineage. Cave borns can also be caught from the AP in the case that someone abandons one. Lineaged dragons can only be found in the AP. These are dragons that people bred, that do have a lineage. (:
As Karamel said, if you want dragons in order to breed them, the Cave always promises a CB. However, the AP can also hold gorgeously lineaged eggs.
When I'm looking for nice lineages, I personally prefer bred dragons. I usually take a dragon from the AP and see if the lineage is nice before deciding to keep it. ^^ It usually depends on what you're looking for.

@jazzyleia Here's the simplified version: Dragons can breed. Some people like to make pretty patterns out of breeding various dragons together (http://dragcave.net/lineage/efGBk). Some don't care and have long messy lineages (http://dragcave.net/lineage/DIOiI). How you breed your dragons (if you choose to) is entirely up to you.

Cave borns (http://dragcave.net/lineage/o7HQt) just give people a nice "fresh start" if they want to make pretty patterns.

@jazzyleia Cheeses can be found in any of the biomes. But they are uncommon, so they don't show up often and when they do they get snatched fast.

Anyway, yes, the parents could be other people's dragons, or the egg could be CB. But rumour has it that if the AP (abandoned pile) is empty, then a dragon from the Wilderness will lay an egg and it will go to the AP. This has not been proven, since you could release your dragon(s) after breeding.

You can use http://dragcave.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Cave_Wiki to identify eggs and dragons.
