Bringing this back to the surface because a lot of these are good ideas that deserve to be implemented. Its been two years since i was last on this site. and it's crazy how nothing has changed. At the very least I want to see the quantity of alive creatures of a specific species next to the population rank in the archives. And then maybe something more to do on this site besides quests, which was released like 7 years ago.
kataclysm • 4 March 2026 at 5:41 AM
@Ian - Please read this thread, if you haven't already. Your userbase is crying out for updates and pointing out the stagnation of a site that they love and want to support. Why do we not hear from you more frequently in these spaces where we're supposed to be brainstorming with the staff? I appreciate that you must have other things on your plate, but there must also be space for desperately needed updates and improvements to your pet site, mustn't there? And, if I happen to have your ear, can we get an update on what happened to the galleries feature? Beta testing seemed to happen many months ago, with no news since. Why? Will the rest of the site ever get galleries?
myriadium • 17 March 2026 at 8:34 PM
bringing this back up again since we've been seeing some issues with the site recently: the cloudflare and site lagging issues that took quite a while to address, the whole dragold's den fiasco that occured earlier today, which has been a total mess and shouldn't have happened since this is an expected and planned event that happens every year. I can't help but believe this site is severely neglected since only one person can make any meaningful change onto the site, and he's certainly much too busy now.I sent in a ticket a month ago bringing up a lot of the issues players have been mentioning but i have yet to receive a response. With what happened today, I feel like it should be brought up again if it would be possible to expand the team of eggcave devs so that changes can be implemented more consistently and more life can be brought into the site. Also any updates on galleries? lol@ianedit because i've just been thinking about this a lot: I'm also growing increasingly frustrated every month as nothing and nothing keeps changing. I spend a lot of time on this site and interacting with the playerbase and i get really sad when i see new players leave because of how unresponsive the devs are to change. the playerbase is primarily why i play now. I'm also very frustrated on behalf of the players that pay real money into this game to have their opinions and thoughts ignored. I know the amount of money ec generates for ian probably isn't noticeable to him since he probably has a main job for his regular income, but people are still spending their hard earned dollars to support a game they love. it's just a shame that they don't get that kind of love back.
nut • 17 March 2026 at 9:52 PM
heavy agree with everything above! those of us who have stuck around genuinely love it here, but it's hard to convince new users to stay without that nostalgia and with the lack of updates. it's gotten to the point where even tiny changes like the Flor npc showing up in the "dailies task complete!" today popup is SOO noticeable and welcomed... like yay change! even a crumb of change! and when the "You have: #" was added to shops that was literally like monumental. if little changes to QOL could keep happening like that it would mean so much in the long run β€οΈ
heatherm19 • 17 March 2026 at 11:01 PM
@myriadium When I first joined this site I was absolutely in awe of how responsive staff was, quick to fix issues, quick to answer questions, active in the forums (and apparently at that point the site was already stagnating compared to what it once was, but coming from another site I was so impressed with what I saw here!). Given how long Eggcave has been around, I almost feel like I got addicted to the site only to see it go downhill. Some of the suggestions in the first post are *really* not huge asks. Things like drag-and-drop cove list sorting, and deleting multiple wall comments at a time, were apparently already features in the past. Being able to sort/filter strongroom by shop, every item already has a shop designated so it shouldn't be too hard to put that into a filter? And related, the creature archive already has tons of tags and different ways to filter results, why can't we have similar for the item archives? The longer I've played here the more noticeable it's been, just how many simple updates/fixes have been requested for a long time without progress. I've personally spent a lot of real money buying CC (like, seriously way too much), and while I don't regret that I am finding it harder and harder to justify more purchases. Its frustrating because I really love this game, and there is enough here to keep me interested (new monthlies, organizing my cove, wishlist, etc), but the issues just get more and more obvious.
myriadium • 19 March 2026 at 1:07 AM
@heatherm19 i also spent money on this site, but definitely not as much as you haha, but the money i spent was not insubstantial since it's not like i'm raking in the big bucks, i'm still just a student. i remember a strike or something was attempted to be ran but apparently ian barely noticed, which really really sucks, because outside of "voting with your dollars" how else can you even be heard here?? it's disheartening when something you support becomes so dead.@ian , i loathe to be annoying, but i don't really know how else to reach out outside of tickets and forums, but the whole community would appreciate an update; a roadmap, a reason, idk.
kataclysm • 19 March 2026 at 12:24 PM
@Ian Wanting to hear your feedback quite a lot here. (: Many questions that can't be answered by anyone other than you.
myriadium • 20 March 2026 at 12:32 AM
@ian using my forum quest requirement to beg for an update...
jarsha • 29 March 2026 at 6:38 PM
Sorry, Iβm not trying to sound like a jerk, especially as a very new player, but Iβve read this thread and a few other suggestion threads and it seems like players are being completely ignored? Iβm loving this site and the players on it, but itβs not a good look for a new player to come here and see that the player base canβt get a response for weeks, months, over a year even? It doesnβt make me want to spend any real money on this site because it makes it feel like the site is somehow abandoned by the people who are supposed to manage it. I did see @ian you responded positively to the suggestion in another thread of implementation of using discord to verify a main account after I brought up my security concern for the site requiring personal data such as phone number to verify, but it seems like the players are largely being neglected so I donβt see the discord thing or any alternative being implemented. I just wanted to bump and give input as a new player, Iβm also seeing a fair amount of fellow new players seem to abandon the site pretty quickly which is not good. I think your long time users at least deserve consistent communication. I donβt feel comfortable spending money or giving my phone number to a website that seems neglected by its owners, although Iβd like to feel confident in doing those things. Please address your players.
kataclysm • 1 April 2026 at 5:42 AM
@jarsha You aren't a jerk at all. You're completely right. Users are ignored, valuable feedback is disregarded, and we can't even get a 'thanks for taking the time to write this' on threads of this nature. I was very shocked, and saddened, to hear that even tickets get neglected. I was actually also coming here to express my shock at another month of messy starts; archives not being updated. The lack of effort there, as well as the noticeable absence of a creature to celebrate 2026 (separate from the LNY pets traditionally) really makes it seem like we're getting the absolute bare minimum.@Ian Please respond to your users and their concerns.
myriadium • 1 April 2026 at 3:53 PM
@ian new month, new forum quests. please communicate with your playerbase π
jarsha • 1 April 2026 at 4:20 PM
@kataclysm Thank you, I appreciate your response. It bums me out seeing how much effort and care people here have put into thinking through issues and coming up with solutions to them and it being ignored. When I saw the initial date even for the first mention of Gallery, and then the date of when it was last promised to come out I was shocked. Even this suggestion compilation thread being posted in early 2025 and getting zero response, it's a bit concerning.
myriadium • 4 April 2026 at 12:37 AM
once again.... @ian... how is galleries beta going...any updates at all about anything brought up here...
kataclysm • 4 April 2026 at 8:12 AM
What would you all keep in your galleries if you had access to them? For me, I wanna keep an excessive amount of the Mechanical Love Robots on display. π
ashlinnhi • 4 April 2026 at 11:09 AM
@kataclysm gachamori toys for me hehe, love those little guys so much. i would also love to have an update on galleries, given how exceedingly long it's been since they were first put into beta. it is disappointing that of the numerous reasonable QOL and accessibility suggestions noted from beginning to end of this forum thread, so few (or none?) have been implemented or even acknowledged. @Ian please listen to your userbase. nostalgia is only so sustainable as a life source and we all wish to see eggcave continue thriving β€οΈ
prairie • 4 April 2026 at 2:31 PM
Iβve been on Eggcave since I was 14! Which is crazy, but it also means Eggcave has been a huge part of my teen years/a major βgameβ Iβve played for a huge part of my life. But thereβs no denying that this site has grown pretty stagnant. And thatβs not just only in a "updates" way, but just keeping things as is.I mean- forgetting about St. Patrick's day?And that's not the first time something like that happened. In 2024 the Easter event was moved from March 31st to April 1st, which doesn't really make any sense to me (aside from code not being set up/ready I guess) as we have had Easter fall in March before. In the end it just feels like certain things are forgotten, when it should be easily scheduled. The EOY sales, sometimes even CRW, there are typical events that happen around the site that seem to get βrememberedβ over being consistent.
clbr6117 • 5 April 2026 at 12:11 AM
^case and point. Easter's gonna be late too.
myriadium • 5 April 2026 at 12:18 AM
once again @ian forgets about an event that occurs literally every year and the site should have been prepared for. this time it's arguably worse because release day easter eggs can get pretty tight with the timing, and now we're losing precious minutes towards getting the new creature. i personally think that if ian can't give more effort or time towards maintaining or developing eggcave it would be best to hand off control to a different person or to at least co-manage it, since players are now essentially giving their time and money to someone who doesn't really seem to appreciate it anymore. it's okay to have outgrown this site, but people still want to play and support it, and it's just not right to leave them behind like this.

@kataclysm> What would you all keep in your galleries if you had access to them?Stuff based on my suggestions πHey @IanPlease.Listen to everyone herePlease mister do not try to enyeepify this site.
kataclysm • 5 April 2026 at 6:18 AM
@Ian What was the point in telling the user base that the Easter event was coming if you weren't going to heed your own announcement?'Welcome to the month of April at Egg Cave! This year, Easter is Sunday, April 5 so the annual Easter Egg Hunt is returning very soon.'We were ready for it, where were you? π it's time for you to address and repair the numerous ways in which you have disappointed your player base. You made a big song and dance about the quality of art that gets to be on eggcave with a tasteless April fools joke, now we want to talk about the quality of the staff and moderation team and how that is in dire need of improvement.Hopefully when he gets online to start the event, he'll reset the event days to make up for the first day being flubbed. So the actual first day won't count? I have a memory of him doing this before. -- Also, loving gallery ideas so far. Please keep em coming if it helps to keep this thread alive. Other qol and ui suggestions should continue to be added, too, so we don't turn this into a vent thread and give the mods a 'justified' reason to lock us down. Give us updates!! Gallery updates! Update the functionality of the forums! Give us sale logs in the user stores!
shirothekittehlover • 5 April 2026 at 6:29 AM
Small thing but I'd very appreciate it if people can bump their own threads after a certain amount of timeπ especially needed for suggestions..speaking of suggestions im sry for the shameful plug-ish thing but i have a lil concept for a minigame if we will have more, could even actually make new players stay even if implementedExploration "mini"game@ian
heatherm19 • 5 April 2026 at 7:21 AM
@kataclysm 'What would you all keep in your galleries if you had access to them?'I have access to the beta, and I was so excited at first. My idea has always been to show off my favorite travels, shiniest/prettiest items, and weirdest drinks. I personally get such a kick out of some of the weird items we have, especially the drinks, and I've put a lot of those into my gallery.(My personal vision for a gallery included tabs/groups/something, a way to have different groups of things, so I could keep the 'pretties' and the 'weird stuff' separate...)I honestly forgot it was Easter now until I read the above replies. I'm honestly really confused by how this site is run, because why aren't these things automatic?? The petsite game I played before this *scheduled* their yearly events, it was automatic, which really just seems like common sense for a long-standing site that has specific yearly events. Why *wouldn't* that be done here? It's *obviously* not better this way, as things keep getting 'forgotten' or whatever the reasons are.(Honestly just pinging all the staff I can hoping maybe *someone* can poke Ian for some explanations/response??) @orderedchaos @jazzyleia @mastergemma
prairie • 5 April 2026 at 10:15 AM
@kataclysm "now we want to talk about the quality of the staff and moderation team and how that is in dire need of improvement."Honestly, the only people I see actively doing stuff to improve the site are the mods. But the mods don't seem to have access to do certain things, they gotta wait for Ian. We've seen this stated before by the mods when stuff wasn't working/things have been delayed in the past. They cannot edit or access certain things on the site.I agree improvements are needed for staff as far as upping the number and giving those staff the ability to do more. Basically, St. Patty's & today pretty much solidify what I said prior in this topic:"I could bet money Ian is the dev. As in uno, solo, single individual..... Moderators seem to help come up with ideas, present stuff and you know, moderate the forums/enforce the rules- but I don't think they have the ability to do anything code wise if I had to guess."^ NGL, now? I would bet more money on that being true. It's impressive that Ian could be doing the coding for this site solo, but also: Life happens, things get busy, and there's only so much that one person can do. In the end I honestly think it'd be for the best to get more people to handle code or at least have limited access to editing/adding features. If he's worried about who will touch the code or if something gets busted- I'm not in literally ANY degree a coder, but surely there's a way for there to be a log of who made what changes at what time??
kataclysm • 5 April 2026 at 10:27 AM
@prairie Indeed. The mods don't have much power, and I agree that they should have more responsibilities and be able to contribute more substantially - which is what I mean when I say the staff and moderation team are in need of improvement. Even today, the most that the mods seem to be able to do is let us know that they know the event hasn't started either. The staff hierarchy deserves to be refurbished and rethought, because what maybe worked x years ago clearly doesn't work now, and I believe it would benefit everyone - users, staff, Ian - to give them necessary support to get there. I also believe eggcave deserves new staff, and new moderators, who are active, responsive, and impartial. It's not going unnoticed that threads in this forum are going without replies from not only Ian, but other staff too. Even if they can't make the changes people are asking for, their radio silence on matters that have moved the community speaks for itself in its own way.But do I think it will ever happen? Not at the point we're at, imo. It's so disheartening..
hinokazes • 6 April 2026 at 9:32 AM
I hope with what Ian said in comments of the easter blog post, things are going to improve soon. I really don't want eggcave to end up being another squiby or eldemore... :cI'd like to talk about two things since last time I posted here :First is april's fools. I liked the sketch pet tho hated the joke about paying artists more. Money is a very touchy subject to bring because of many reasons, and joking about this in a context where many are financially struggling is low. And then, the sketchy pet turning "better". I'm sorry but what was that "The original state of the Follyn was never something that would ever be allowed at Egg Cave in terms of art style." ??? What was wrong with the sketch ? I thought it was great and cute ! I wish it had stayed like this ! And the real version would have been some variant or something so we can keep both. Don't make a joke pet just to remove the joke after, what about people who paid to have more of that pet from other players because they actually liked the sketch concept, just for them to feel scammed when they saw the pet suddenly change appearance for something they don't like anymore ? Doesn't make me feel trusting for future pets to be honest...Also, something should be done about the VEND stocks because the fact I only realised today there was 2 new pets added to the VEND only for them to reach low stock almost immediately... ? What ? Wouldn't it be better to have some sort of grace period where the stocks won't get low like some days to give more time for players to see they exist ? They aren't re-release where you know the stock is low, we don't even know what stocks the VEND has ! I'm almost glad they aren't interesting enough for me because if I truly wanted them it would have been impossible for me to get them is such short time :|So yeah, here's two recent bothers of mine...As for the question about what we'd do with galleries, if galleries happen one day, I don't know what I'd do with them in all honesty, never really thought about it, it's more something I'll decide on if I have it in front of my eyes. I wasn't part of the beta so I genuinely do not know how it'd be.
spookyfrog • 6 April 2026 at 10:32 AM
@hinokazes your point about the april fools joke is something i very much agree with, and it seems that the majority of users think that the original, "unpolished" version of Follyn is better.I do want to correct you on the VEND stocks, tho. When a creature is released into the vend, they are available for an undetermined amount of time. There is a certain threshold that, when reached, puts that creature into "low stock". From there, everyone still has one week to get as many eggs of that species as they want, and it won't run out or dry up until that 1 week period ends. Hell, I'd put money that there have been twice as many Eyleymos taken after stock was "low" than before. Suffice to say, don't worry about stocks running out before that window is up. You can see how much time is left by going on the VEND page and seeing the countdown above the Eyleymo and Shaibun
hinokazes • 6 April 2026 at 2:41 PM
@spookyfrogI guess it just rub me the wrong way how I see new pets finally in the VEND just for them to be gone in 3 days... Some have been taking dust in it for months, yet two new creatures arrive just to be gone already :T I only do questing if there's a pet that really catch my interest because it's very costly both in term of money and time. Even if I had seen them right away, I'm not sure a week would have been enough to get just one of them knowing my luck
myriadium • 6 April 2026 at 3:04 PM
@hinokazes to be fair the creatures released are highly anticipated and wanted by almost everyone on the site, so it's no surprise that they ran out fast. just an effect of putting up very rare and very wanted creatures into the pool.i actually think that the mods were very generous in designing the release of the eyleymo and shaibun: they knew it'll go out fast and you're guaranteed a week to grind for it, they make it relatively cheap (compared to the brohu, which was a token sink) and the timeline allows for someone to build up enough tokens to get an easter date or to get at least one of each before the week ends.i recommend building up a stockpile of tokens in the vend release downtime, since i agree that scrambling for tokens during the release window is very stressful. vend releases don't happen all the time but when they do, esp for events, you can count on them going out fast fast.
hinokazes • 6 April 2026 at 3:33 PM
@myriadiumI genuinely do not know how wanted pets are, I just saw two creatures showing up and boom, already about to leave. I personally HATE questing so that's why I don't stock up ^^' I only quest tokens that I truly need (so only when the pet is out to see which ones are needed) and I'm saving on money to buy the last lab pet I'm missing (deena), so that's also why I avoid questing rn. I just wish vend release weren't so random and that there could be more diversity in it after seeing the same pets for months
