Springtime Creature Suggestion: Growme

lexian • 1 week ago

It's hard to think I've been on EggCave for a little over 6 Months now! In that time I've seen lots of different Beasties, Mostly Creatures, some Humanoids too, but one Being I Haven't seen yet is a Gnome-Type Creature, Mayhaps it's time? (Unless I've missed one?!) 🤔 #creaturesuggestion

Gender Profile: 65% male, 25% female, 10% non-binary

Egg Description:
A Strange Green Shoot appeared in your Garden one day - You hope it isn't some Invasive Flora sending out Tendrils to take over your Cove-Space, but as you've never such a strange plant before, you opt to leave it be and see what Grows...

About the Growme Creature
Often Mistaken for Crustaceans after Hatching due to their Cone-Shaped Shell and the fact they use their little Fingers to Scuttle around, a Newborn Growme is Very Shy and like a Limpet, will hunker down within said Shell whenever they sense Danger.

Growme use their round little Noses to sniff out Nibbles and Treats, often emerging when the world is Quiet to graze their surroundings until they become just too 'Plump' to remain comfortably inside.
Unlike crustaceans, when they get too big for their shells, instead of seeking out a larger cone, Growme look for safety elsewhere, using their skills in camouflage to hide amongst flower beds and other overgrowth whenever a threat appears.

It's said that a Garden Inhabited by a Growme flourishes with both Flora and Fauna and that one should consider themselves Lucky to catch a glimpse of such a Creature, perhaps seated upon the edge of a flowerbed on a Sunny Day.

Once fully grown, most Growme are content to remain in their adopted Gardens, but some get that itch to 'See the World' and quite out of the blue, have been known to pack up a few seeds and a Cutting of their Favourite Bloom and disappear, perhaps opening up a space for new Growme to appear?

He's so small and cute! I want to hide in a hat too big, like the baby stage. I don't think we have gnome shapes yet! We don't get too many humanoids

More pings!

Lol, how cute. I love the shade of green you picked, too.

@daisycat Somehow I could see this lil fella in your cove amongst the Mildreds.

I think it's about time we had more humanoid creatures, lol. A gronk, I can't believe we haven't gotten one of these on here yet.

I love him, it would be awesome to have this lil guy in my garden!

nenielsen • 1 week ago

@lexian thanks for pinging! This crustacean-like gnome creature would fit in with the other humanoid fairy-things. Super cute and I love the description and how it talks about the growme using its fingers to scuttle around.

@nenielsen Absolutely no problem! 😊 So Glad everyone so far likes them 😁

@lexian
The Growme is super cute and silly! Fun name, I really like the stage progression, love the shade of green you chose (sucker for green my whole life lol), and I've always loved anything with daisies since it's my name!! I could see this being chosen for spring or March specifically. Maybe we could have a garden themed month if we haven't already. :-o

Love these parts:
"Height: Average 14 inches (11 Inches without the Hat)"
"they use their little Fingers to Scuttle around" too funny, creates a nice, animated image in my head
"known to pack up a few seeds and a Cutting of their Favourite Bloom and disappear" absolutely precious and mysterious

Also, congrats on six months with EC, Lexian! You've been a lovely addition to the site~ 🎉

@matcha plz look c:

Thank you for the ping @/kataclysm! 💚

Edit: I got the species name for you if you'd like it! Just lemme know. :-] (free of course)
