Find The Gobblers is back with an all-new creature prize this year. Here's how it works: for the month of November, Gobblers will appear around the site. To collect one, click on it whenever you see one. The top 100 collectors will receive a 1000 CaveCash Voucher ($10) and a Leafcock at the end of the month.
NEW THIS YEAR! Gobblers are 100% opacity (i.e. not faded) but smaller in size. They appear less frequently but when they do, they will be more easy to spot and see! We hope that this improves the accessibility for our players.
Update November 1, 1:00 PM: Gobblers have been made bigger and more frequent again!

I have to admit, there's a tiny part of me that misses the Gobbler hallucinations I used to get during the Gobbler hunt season. Had to do a double-take of every roundish blur on the screen xD

2022 Gobbler Hunt is exciting with all these changes. This is much more fun than being a test subject for new state standard for academic testing, (My graduating year was one of two they attempted to replace the SATs,) or even a focus group for a survey. Just sayin'.

@jlya I still have the mini-hallucinations from time to time(year round)... and as much as I gripe about it, I was also looking forward to refreshing those images in my brain. LOL.

Also, a suggestion for future; the top players could get 1k CC, but for the creature only a certain threshold needs to be passed? Like if you get 1000 Gobblers you get the creature, for example. That way more people can get something but you still have to go Gobbler hunting!

ANOTHER CONFIRMED UPDATE: the average user will see at least one Gobbler every 1-3 minutes. We've implemented a "minimum floor" guarantee that you will see a Gobbler in this time frame.

@calenlass I'm not sure about that, but I definitely think it will help those of us who weren't finding Gobblers for 10-15 minutes at a time! Especially because it was so random so I wouldn't always be paying attention to every page, at least now we know a time-range.

@calenlass - We always want to make every event fair for each user! But this will also guarantee that you will see one within the timeframe rather than just on the chance of refresh.

@jazzyleia- I do not think that this competition is fair now. Why should these changes be added when the competition already started? I already found 1800 Gobblers in one day. Assuming that anyone finds a Gobbler every three minutes, it will take 90 hours to find the same amount-

as I had. How is anyone suppose to compete against a score like that? Furthermore, I think that these additions will deter players from actively seeking Gobblers. I had been refreshing my page for the past few minutes, but did not find any Gobblers. What is the point for me-

to seek for these Gobblers when they will be given to me every three minutes? I do not think there is any need for me to put in the effort now. I do not understand the need for these changes when players been using these methods since the previous Gobbler hunts.

@raretreasurehunter56 tbh, the top 5 collectors such as yourself in the first day were what prompted this change. šš¼ Gobblers were able to be obtained smashing the refresh button and thatās not the case now.

I think the new changes are nice but it's true that since they were applied mid-event it'll be hard to catch up with people who already refreshed a bunch at the top of the leaderboards

@spell I agree and understand that it might be hard to beat the top 5 spots. Players might have to, sadly, think of these spots as accounted for in terms of competing for the grand prize. Go for the other top 95 spots.

@raretreasurehunter56 Completely agree. I preferred it when it was based on random chance. Having to wait 3 minutes before getting another gobbler takes the fun away from it in my opinion.
@raretreasurehunter56 And you made a good point about it now taking 90 hours to get the same amount as you had so it is even harder to catch up to you now haha. And yeah I agree it can deter players from actively seeking gobblers when they have to wait every 3 min now.

@icecream PS not always 3 minutes. Thatās the maximum cooldown. Itās randomized between 1 second and 180 seconds (3 min).

As someone who gained my gobblers from feeding, and general site usage, not refreshing, I'm not sure how I feel about the change. I usually miss several each batch of creatures I open due to the double thing (which I am fine with). -cont-
I miss more by only scanning the top part of the page, mainly the white section around the feed button,

@Ian Maybe I just have bad luck, but it's been taking me about 2-3 min between gobblers every time so far haha. I see what you are going for but I still prefer the completely randomized way

I also found mine via feeding and this change has slowed me down considerably. I donāt feel any incentive to feed anymore knowing Iāll only find one gobbler if I visit the site every few minutes, instead of a chance on every page click. I have mixed feelings on it š¤·

I guess if you really care about getting in the top few spots this might be annoying, but since the top 100 get the prizes I really don't think it's unfair. And it wasn't exactly implemented 'mid-event', it was mid-day on the 2nd, still plenty of time for people to catch up!

And I'll just say, as someone with anxiety that acts up in any sort of 'competition' scenario, I am so very very thankful for this change! Unknowns are hard to deal with, having a set timeframe makes it so much more enjoyable. (And no incentive to feed? You still get ec.)

@heatherm19 I'm finding my motivation to feed effected as well. Yes, I still get ec, but I have a healthy bank balance, so it's not that important. Feeding (especially through the XC) is how I spend my time. A guarantee ever 3 minutes is different to possible every page.

@Ian You know how I got into the "top 5 spots"? By sitting here for up to 12-13hrs straight, clicking links, refreshing, feeding, that's how. After all that hard work, now to be told that "ohhh, you're getting too many Gobblers is not fair to others" is very insulting. We're...

..not cheating to catch our Gobblers so why are the top scorers for that now being punished. Every yr I challenge myself to see how many Gobblers I can catch, that's why I waste hours on this site in these times. May as well bring back the "I seen one", can help ppl to 'catch up'

I've been playing for almost an hour and haven't found a single gobbler? Maybe I'm just super blind but that seems unlikely.

@spell Shouldn't ppl worry about catching up with THE LAST 5 if they're not alr in the 100? I sat here for hrs, strain-eyed, aching back, hunting, and then ppl say "top scorers are using suspicious means". Thanks. Very motivating.

@calenlass I realize I think this sums up some of my feelings. I spend the time sitting, clicking, feeding. I've cleared the XC more days than not recently (I banked over 70k credits since 2nd Oct). Using the site just as I would in Sept. It's how I found over 95K in seeds.

@eggslover The Gobblers are much more difficult to find now. The good news is that Gobblers are guaranteed to appear every 1-3 minutes. The problem with this is that if you are feeding or visiting some other page and you happened to miss that Gobbler, you got to wait another-
I can't work at the moment, and it's calming for my insomnia. I can spot them better since the image change though, but still missed heaps due to opening multiple tabs at once.
1-3 minutes. If you miss another, you will wait again. I think this will most likely affect those who find Gobblers when feeding since you will now have to either go slowly to find the Gobbler or else you will end up missing it

@calenlass Thatās actually a good point. With the rate gobbler hunting is going now it seems like someone just entering the competition would find it pretty challenging to even make it to the 100th spot

@raretreasurehunter56 I did see that, but they said they made it a bit bigger again, and even if they hadn't I still think I would've found one by now because I've looked a lot, carefully, and haven't seen a single thing. You would think I'd have found at least one. Thanks though

@eggslover Are you on a mobile or computer? And what zoom level are you on? I'm on a computer and are zoomed to only see the first 4 rows in the XC. I concentrate my search on the white part of the page. Currently the Gobblers are about 1/4 the size of creatures on their profile.

@eggslover I've got a desk top with a large monitor, and have a half screen window for EC (the other half TV). Mine sits at 67 or 75%. But the gobblers do scale up and down. I also don't scroll down. The more I feed, the more should show up in my view.

I'm confused about the rate that they appear now. I was finding the majority of mine through questing and buying items, but now very few are appearing? Does the time cap mean that gobblers can't appear soon after each other (before I even had some appear in back to back pages)?

@spell Sorry, I didn't say you said that. It was one of the mods in an earlier convo. I took leave from work so I could hunt and be as far from the bottom of the 100 as I can bcoz I won't have time when I start work again but we hv to stop to, like, ya know let ppl catch up...
