New To The Chocotravaganza Exchange? Here's How It Works

The Chocotravaganza Exchange is our annual February event. Here's how it works.

  • Get Chocolate Boxes from feeding creatures around Egg Cave
  • Head over to the Exchange HQ and send Chocolate Boxes to other players and your friends
  • Using the Chocolate Boxes that you have received from others during the Exchange, get exclusive love- and heart-themed prizes, including the Tine, from the Prize Shop
  • Use the Exchange HQ to keep up to date on who has sent you what (so maybe you can return the favor!)

The Exchange will be open to collect Chocolate Boxes February 14-21. After that, you will have more time to spend your remaining Chocolate Boxes in the Prize Shop.

Also I'm free to send chocolates for the next h since my lil one is asleep 😊 so if anyone like to exchange send them my way ^-^

mami • 14 Feb 2020, 3:04 PM

@_piano_pokemon_ archives would suggest it goes back to being retired after this week, but dont quote me on that

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 3:15 PM

Honestly think it was time to re-release the Tine; it's been 10 years (I say this as someone who has an original Tine). Don't get me wrong, I do think that this should just be a one-time thing (retiring them again next year and for the foreseeable future). I am also surprised by

lunar • 14 Feb 2020, 3:16 PM

Thank you for the rerelease, got me back into playing eggcave 😊

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 3:17 PM

the 1000 price. Not complaining at all, but I thought that sounded pretty cheap for a highly sought after long-retired creature. Otherwise, I think re-releasing it as a prize was the fairest thing that could have been done.

beta • 14 Feb 2020, 3:24 PM

@ian said the tedory retire too?

beta • 14 Feb 2020, 3:24 PM

Did*

saturna • 14 Feb 2020, 3:25 PM

Ooo exciting!

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 3:28 PM

Also, I do agree that a maximum would be more than fair (say, no more than 1-2 Tine, 3 at the very, very most)

_piano_pokemon_ • 14 Feb 2020, 3:31 PM

Ya that's what I was thinking

bubblez • 14 Feb 2020, 3:48 PM

@Ian Thank you for the banner!! It's super useful❤️

fire-and-spice • 14 Feb 2020, 4:31 PM

i'm feed friendly!!!

sungrave • 14 Feb 2020, 5:02 PM

Not gonna lie as someone who has been here since almost forever I'm super happy for this! Trading was incredibly hard these days and I don't mind it at all that even if it was impossible to trade for these, now it might be a little easier. Bless.

ethereality • 14 Feb 2020, 5:16 PM

Wow! I think Tine as a VEND would have been a much better idea. Tine values will plummet now ☹️ It's cool I guess but I wish other really rare creatures would be rereleased too then? like Onny or Doovoo or Macbot? It's not fair for those with only a Tine but none of those other

ethereality • 14 Feb 2020, 5:17 PM

older, unobtainable creatures. (Like me. I traded my gobblar for a tine). So, I'm happy for this rerelease for those who don't have a tine, but to keep it fair for those who only had a tine, can the Onny/Doovoo/Macbot be rereleased as well?

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 6:43 PM

I also wouldn't be against other very old creatures being re-released--even the Onny, which I traded a lot of creatures/common RW/Ns for. I know it's fun to have rare creatures, and I do think rarity should be preserved to some degree. But I also don't think limited re-releases

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 6:44 PM

can totally render a creature worthless. Yeah, I wonder if this Tine release could have been a bit better thought out (at least a high number of chocolates required and a set limit you can buy), but I don't think the best route is to keep new users from these creatures forever,

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 6:46 PM

unless they cough up a lot of CC. I think there could be a middle ground. I remember when Florns, Foos, and I think Treelars were re-released for ONE day on Christmas several years ago. Everyone freaked out, but they are all still more or less pretty hard to get (I know that the

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 6:46 PM

Foo was made available through the vending machine though--still, doesn't seem to be many in circulation). So yeah, I think we can come to some middle ground.

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 6:47 PM

Also, if old CCs were released, I do think that they should be made more expensive than the standard 500cc maybe. Or at the very least, there is a chance element to getting one (like the current vending machine).

netherling • 14 Feb 2020, 7:03 PM

@metaphor I like the idea of limited re-releases, I dont particularly like the vend machine path though. Like yeah, I do quests, but i hate that work goes into it and so does a lot of EC and theres a chance you'll get something you didnt want or already have. Maybe we need-

netherling • 14 Feb 2020, 7:06 PM

to have something different from that. I dont particularly care about rarity because the only thing rarity gives is bragging rights and I think that's...selfish, in a way. Wanting a creature to stay hard to get so other people will be envious of them.

jlya • 14 Feb 2020, 7:09 PM

You can get a TINE now????? This is both incredible and table-turning. What about people with Tines? 😱 Anyway, exchanging 1:1 chocolates for anyone interested. ❤️

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 7:13 PM

Yeah don't worry, I don't really do quests either, so I understand. I too think that it's just not sustainable to expect creatures to stay retired forever. Be re-released only once every 5-10 years? Totally cool. Be re-released very, very rarely? Also fine. I just have never ever

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 7:14 PM

played a site where any item or pet is expected to stay retired forever. One site I play has a very rare pet that is released officially every 10 years, with a couple very limited releases here and there (usually as prizes). And these pets are incredibly expensive and hard to get

metaphor • 14 Feb 2020, 7:17 PM

People pay those highly inflated prices, but they do so knowing that the supply will very likely rise again to meet the demand somewhat. It's a risk you take. @netherling

netherling • 14 Feb 2020, 7:27 PM

@metaphor I said earlier somewhere that I like to go by "dont pay something you dont agree with" lol, and while I've seen people pay an arm and a leg for some rare creatures, that was a choice, it's not mandatory. Haggling exists and even if they wont budge, paying a ton-

netherling • 14 Feb 2020, 7:29 PM

for a creature only makes the price solid. If people wouldnt pay a ton for something, eventually the asking price would decrease. But most people ask for other old creatures in exchange for their uft oldies, which makes it impossible to get them when you don't have what they want

netherling • 14 Feb 2020, 7:31 PM

NGL, the prices shouldve never went above 10k CC. The site's been here for over a decade and times change, so I think in order to keep up with supply and demand, re-releases for the most expensive and rare need to be done. When circulation mostly stops, that's really bad.

decay • 14 Feb 2020, 11:24 PM

I think the rerelease is really great and even got older users to come back and play Eggcave! It’s united us very well (: But I do have to agree with people who say that it’s going to mess with it’s value significantly and I think there should of been a 1 tine per user limit 😋

_piano_pokemon_ • 14 Feb 2020, 11:56 PM

I agree with you @decay , sucks took me 3 years to get my first tine and I'll have mixed feelings if they release things like doovoo onny and macbot I worked so hard achieving those critters 7 years it took me to obtain my doovoo I traded over 20 very old high value critters☹️

_piano_pokemon_ • 14 Feb 2020, 11:58 PM

I felt proud kinda like the feeling you get catching a legendary pokemon or obtaining one that's shiny if that makes sense. Just wish they'd make obtaining one more difficult and place a limit but to each his own I suppose

magenta • 15 Feb 2020, 12:41 AM

happy that they rereleased older creatures! had an account here in 2009/2010 before i made this one but all of my critters died and couldnt be revived since it was before the revival stone was released! thanks eggcave ❤️

brookie • 15 Feb 2020, 12:56 AM

I can’t believe how quickly the Tine is going down in the population rank /:

idol • 15 Feb 2020, 10:24 AM

well since everyone is so happy about it and the tine wasn't even one of the first re:released creatures then I'm waiting for the Onny, Macbot, and Doovoo to get re:released..

mami • 15 Feb 2020, 10:45 AM

man imagine a more difficult easter egg hunt with an onny, or a plot (like the paret thing) involving a macbot.... no need to give them out for free obviously but I wouldnt say no to a rerelease of those 😋

persona • 15 Feb 2020, 10:53 AM

too bad it can't be like a scavenger hunt instead that would be cool! 😱 I do think though if they continue this I wish that they would limit them in the future. I don't understand why the monthlies have a limit but not the tine. That's silly. 😋

ethereality • 15 Feb 2020, 10:58 AM

@netherling I do think rarity matters and I think a limited-release like the way VEND is able to do that is actually an amazing way to reintroduce creatures into circulation without completely rendering them worthless. I'm open to other limited release options as well, though

ethereality • 15 Feb 2020, 10:59 AM

The problem with rarity not mattering is that people have spent so much effort/money for values to completely be obliterated. Like sure, they can be cut in half, but I'm pretty sure after this Tines will be worth max 5k CC instead of 50k cc like before. That's atleast 90%

idol • 15 Feb 2020, 10:59 AM

@mami Slowly everything is going back around I guess~ ^^ that would be crazy! But I feel like if the challenge was pretty difficult to get them as well that would make them more fun to get ^^ Oh the Gobbler too! ^^ what a crazy turkey hunt that would be!

ethereality • 15 Feb 2020, 11:01 AM

I think the most appropriate thing for this Tine rerelease wouldve been 2000 chocolates price as well as 1 per user.

ethereality • 15 Feb 2020, 11:02 AM

Even if not 2000 chocolates, 1 per user was a must. The way it is now, certain users can uncontrollably hoard Tines which is kinda ridiculous

idol • 15 Feb 2020, 11:08 AM

@ethereality I agree completely. I'm not even sure what to trade for one though because everyone that has one is still looking for Clous, Corsal, Zinzall, stuff that is still hard to get XD so..

kayuubii • 15 Feb 2020, 11:21 AM

I LOVE THE TINE! 😸

_piano_pokemon_ • 15 Feb 2020, 12:43 PM

can hardly load a single page the site is so slow and by the time it does my sons awake and cant do anything :/ think I'm gonna go back to being on hiatus lol

ethereality • 15 Feb 2020, 12:46 PM

@_piano_pokemon_ its only for this week, lol. no need to go back on haitus lol

metaphor • 15 Feb 2020, 2:58 PM

Yeah, I still find it really weird how there was not a limit put on the Tines. There is a limit on the monthly LEs, after all. It would really help preserve rarity and still make people happy. It's probably too late to do anything about now, but for next time maybe?

metaphor • 15 Feb 2020, 3:00 PM

I mean, at least if they are going to be 1000 chocolates. If they were, say, 5000 or even 2500, I'd say okay to unlimited. But having them available for a week and allowing them to be unlimited--I can see some people's concern. Especially since you can easily get 1000 chocolates

metaphor • 15 Feb 2020, 3:02 PM

by having your friends regularly send you 50 chocolates or so per send. Still think it was a great idea to bring them back for their 10 year anniversary. But now that I'm beginning to realize how easy it actually is to get chocolates, I understand why some people are worried.

netherling • 15 Feb 2020, 3:05 PM

@ethereality I guess the reason I'm so for re-releases is because I feel that no one should ever to trade en masse for 1 creature. Like @_piano_pokemon_ said she had to. Like, you should be able to keep the ones you love and still have access to others that you want. Because-
