Introducing Evolutions and Stats in Real Time

February 19, 2015 at 6:17 PM

EVOLUTIONS IN REAL TIME - After one of the biggest improvements on our stats system, Egg Cave is proud to introduce creature evolutions in real time and 100% live creature stats, including views.

We're growing up and getting smarter, dad!

We're most excited that there will be no more delays for any daily stat resets. Gone are the days of "my creatures didn't evolve today!" or "feeds didn't reset."

A NOTE ON CREATURE LEVELS - Since creature images are still generated only once per day, the Creature Levels printed upon the image can become outdated as the day progresses. Rest assured that, despite this, the system still recognizes and uses the live Level of the creature (not the printed image Level), particularly with creature immortality.

CONSIDER THE EFFECTS ON FREEZES - Since creature evolutions are now occurring in real-time, don't procrastinate with things like freezes, as you do not have until ~3:00 AM the next day to complete your freeze. "Buffer time" for freezes is a thing of the past.

WE'RE UPDATING DOCUMENTS - Since real-time evolutions haven't existed in the history of Egg Cave, allow us the next week to update our documents about creature evolutions and stats.

@shelby My comment was referring towards the update on the system. The old system was not broken & didn't need to be "fixed"

Orderedchaos • 19 Feb 2015, 8:19 PM

@bubblez , @shelby is correct. Things WERE broken. The past week has been terrible for things not resetting or happening as they should.

Orderedchaos • 19 Feb 2015, 8:20 PM

This is our way to ensure that creature evolutions always happen. Not like today were it failed to happen early this morning.

hvernon • 19 Feb 2015, 8:36 PM

Do levels not automatically change?

bubblez • 19 Feb 2015, 8:36 PM

Again, I am NOT referring to fixing anything (and, apparently that was not clear, so my apologies) but as to HOW you "fixed" it. --

bubblez • 19 Feb 2015, 8:38 PM

This new system is just horrible. (Also unfair) Later down the road, it WILL have bugs & then you'll have to fix it again. And so on & so on

bubblez • 19 Feb 2015, 8:38 PM

Nothing will ever be permanently fixed. As technology will always have hiccups. (No one is to blame there)

shelby • 19 Feb 2015, 8:44 PM

@hvernon No, creature images only update once per day.

dragon_collector • 19 Feb 2015, 9:04 PM

Yay! Thanks to the staff! 😸 I noticed that I got a lot a creature notifications, and I was like: I thought the updates were at 3 am? πŸ˜ΈπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Š

tash • 19 Feb 2015, 9:09 PM

Im happy with this 😊 wish the creature images could update on time to though.

newlife • 19 Feb 2015, 9:38 PM

Great update with views updating in real time, much easier for us immortalizers! However, the creatures evolving in real time also-

newlife • 19 Feb 2015, 9:39 PM

raises a few issues, as said above. Not going to get into this discussion this time though.

Orderedchaos • 19 Feb 2015, 9:49 PM

@bubblez Change happens all the time, there is nothing you can do about it but learn to live with it.

newlife • 19 Feb 2015, 9:54 PM

Oh, however, I think creature images should be updated every 6~12 hours instead of every 24 if views are live 😊

mrsgiggles • 19 Feb 2015, 9:57 PM

Cool!

univea • 19 Feb 2015, 10:09 PM

I still have two hours to buy a Sikeree... I guess I won't though? I don't know.

inkpelt • 19 Feb 2015, 10:35 PM

Cool! Good job!

Ian • 19 Feb 2015, 11:11 PM

with freezes, it's definitely a new perspective, but you have absolute and complete control to know precisely where your creatures stand.

okami • 19 Feb 2015, 11:13 PM

Cool 😊

sparklefox • 20 Feb 2015, 1:25 AM

Oh, that's why I came on today to find a Mo that evolved at 11:09pm yesterday. XD Really cool~!

mastergemma • 20 Feb 2015, 6:05 AM

Would this mean that you would get immortal notifications when it happens? What an awesome update πŸ˜ƒ

gabrieltaft • 21 Feb 2015, 3:12 PM

Great job devs!

laurel_wreath • 21 Feb 2015, 7:28 PM

i hate to complain because mostly I love this update, but I'm not getting notifications for evolutions! Maybe because I'm not online 24/7...

laurel_wreath • 21 Feb 2015, 7:31 PM

... but in any case this is really problematic because I risk missing freezes this way. notifications have been crucial for me to keep track

laurel_wreath • 21 Feb 2015, 7:33 PM

@Ian is this supposed to happen or is it a bug or something, and is there anything you can do about?

Ian • 26 Feb 2015, 4:32 PM

@laurel_wreath evolution notifications are being delivered as expected. they aren't delivered all at once, but delivered in real time.

Ian • 26 Feb 2015, 4:32 PM

your latest evolution notification was today at 6:35 am.
