Trade Center and Auction Updates

Trade Center Updates

The front page of the Trade Center now lists every trade in the Trade Center much like Auctions do. To view your own created trades, click to My Trades in the navigation.

The Trade Center front pages show 20 trades per page and show the oldest trades first. Newest trades are added to the last page. The Newest Trades page has been removed. "Trade spam", while basically impossible with this new page structure, is still prohibited.

Auction Updates

Instead of the entire auction block being clickable from the listing, auction titles are now hyperlinked in red. Click the red hyperlinks to get to the individual listing page. We found that the "entire clickable block" didn't allow people to launch auctions in new tabs/windows by CTRL (CMD) clicks.

The Auctions Search is brand new, now allowing you to find auctions by item name.

So many updates! So many helpful changes!

On Kanji Characters

Kanji characters and other non-English character sets are no longer allowed in either usernames or creature names in our filters. Existing creature names that contain Kanji or non-English characters may be forced to rename their creatures, depending on the content of the translation.

This is being enforced to ensure that names do not contain inappropriate words in other languages.

Whooooooo! No more trade spam!

gymnastics001 • 13 Sep 2017, 4:07 PM

I was confused why the trades were weird and no site blog post xD

brad • 13 Sep 2017, 4:10 PM

Very nice updates! Love that the trade center has pages now.

connieharris • 13 Sep 2017, 4:10 PM

Understandable

jello • 13 Sep 2017, 4:13 PM

Woh!

Ian • 13 Sep 2017, 4:15 PM

There's no advantage to re-posting trades now! Trade legitimately and fairly, all.

Ian • 13 Sep 2017, 4:15 PM

We also think that this will be a lot easier to comprehend between trades and auctions.

immortalraven • 13 Sep 2017, 4:17 PM

What is Kanji characters? And yay no more trade spam ;-; I guess I have to go look at my critters that had the weird letter stuff. I think

dusskfall • 13 Sep 2017, 4:18 PM

so happy about the trade change. the old set up was extremely frustrating

immortalraven • 13 Sep 2017, 4:19 PM

the only ones I had like that were in english but just with those things right above the letter. Will those have to be changed? I don't

immortalraven • 13 Sep 2017, 4:19 PM

think they say bad things. I based all those off monsters /paranormal things around the world but I'll check just in case x3

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:21 PM

@immortalraven Kanji are Japanese/Chinese characters.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:23 PM

Creature names with non-English characters are not being renamed unless we discover that they are inappropriate.

pet_cemetery • 13 Sep 2017, 4:24 PM

Is non English names with English letters ok? I have Arigato and Cazador

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:24 PM

So if you used accented letters, Kanji, Cyrillic, ect. to get around the Egg Cave censor then the creature will be renamed.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:25 PM

@pet_cemetery Non-English names are fine, so long as they are appropriate.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:27 PM

If you name a creature something inappropriate in another language that's no different and just as against the rules as...

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 4:27 PM

...giving a creature an inappropriate name in English.

pet_cemetery • 13 Sep 2017, 4:37 PM

Ah, thanks^^ mine are appropiate. They mean Thank you in Japanese and Hunter in spanish, respectively

sparklefox • 13 Sep 2017, 4:47 PM

Oh, so many new updates! Thanks.

333 • 13 Sep 2017, 5:30 PM

Oh, yeah! This should be fun. 😃

purgatory • 13 Sep 2017, 5:46 PM

Nice c:

raitonchidori • 13 Sep 2017, 6:15 PM

Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

immortalraven • 13 Sep 2017, 6:41 PM

@Orderedchaos Thanks for letting me know 😊

empresscleverbuddyaj • 13 Sep 2017, 7:06 PM

Yay!!!

musicgurl333 • 13 Sep 2017, 7:30 PM

Out of curiosity, what is meant by "trade spam"? I haven't done much trading in ages, and I'm not exactly sure what this refers to.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 7:38 PM

@musicgurl333 Trade spam is/was constantly taking down and reposting the same trade lot to keep it on the Recent Trades page.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 7:39 PM

Since that page is gone now, any desire to spam the same trade should be gone as well. Since you can just page thru all trades now.

lucas • 13 Sep 2017, 8:00 PM

Nice! Trade spam was SO annoying xD

nkiay • 13 Sep 2017, 9:56 PM

I like this, but It seems a bit backwards to have the first page be the oldest trades. The Auctions have newest first.

chocovampire • 13 Sep 2017, 10:57 PM

Big improvements! Thanks Egg Cave!❤️

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 11:41 PM

@nkiay The Auctions actually doesn't have the newest first. Its the the ones that are expiring soonest that are first.

Orderedchaos • 13 Sep 2017, 11:42 PM

Which isthe same way the TC is now set up, with the oldest, and thus soonest to expire, trades first.

nkiay • 13 Sep 2017, 11:48 PM

@Orderedchaos You're right, I have no idea how I switched it in my head. Hahah, nevermind. Thanks.

murfijs • 14 Sep 2017, 2:50 AM

i hope none of mine creatures have inappropriate name.because i dont know other languages than english or latvian.

sybil_howlett • 14 Sep 2017, 3:04 AM

@Orderedchaos so I can let the kanji names stay? I put the translation into the name as well 😊

tamomo • 14 Sep 2017, 6:06 AM

Wait, would it be better to put new trade on the first page than in the last one? Cause i'm getting a bit confused with this way

immortalraven • 14 Sep 2017, 12:57 PM

@nidalee2 I believe it's to deter people from constantly putting up the same critters to be on the most recent page ^^

Orderedchaos • 14 Sep 2017, 3:24 PM

@sybil_howlett So long as the names are not inappropriate we are not forcing them to be changed.

sybil_howlett • 14 Sep 2017, 3:32 PM

@orderedchaos thank you 😸

jello • 14 Sep 2017, 6:20 PM

What was the TLC for?

snowwall • 14 Sep 2017, 10:30 PM

Honestly, if somebody _wants_ to circumvent the censor, they will. Isn't that what the dob-in ("Report") button is for?

Orderedchaos • 15 Sep 2017, 10:54 AM

@snowwall Yes that is true, but making our job a little easier isn't a bad thing.

snowwall • 16 Sep 2017, 11:32 AM

Sure, but transliteration won't go anywhere and is no less cryptic. Without it, though, a short name with *some* meaning is much harder :/
