1. The items (food, ice cream, books, etc) can be consumed by any creature, and they can give 1 stat to your creature, depending on the item (if its food you gain 1 feed, if it's book you gain 1 view, etc). Some players also collect items.

I don't feel the XC is as utilized as much as it could or should be. The Monthly Challenge/Daily Tasks has helped a bit and I definitely see an difference in my credits when it's a task. I've also noticed an increase in use during events that feature feeding (Valentine's day and Halloween)....
