"Oh, well, it doesn't get more boring then April then," Evie scowled. "Truce month. And YOU won't get any life-or-death fights to pass the time- PROBABLY," she added, rolling off the bed and stalking out the door. She needed a chat with Four.

"It'll probably be mostly in French, too," Col hid a smile.
Blaine, having only ever been to Super School, blinked, and didn't really care.

"I helpfully point out that most of us don't speak French. And we're in France. Going to a French school." Kaylie pointed out.
Luckily, she knew the basics from traveling to France a few time, but nothing much that can help her too much in school.


"COMO ESTAS?" Jade asked. Hopefully that was French.
Yeah. She was hopeless.

"Jade, that's Spainish." Annabell helpfully pointed out.

There was a loud knock on the door. Four got it, and was promptly dragged away.
Blaine picked up a french magazine that was lying around and started casually flicking through it, unperturbed.

"Col," Evie hissed. "Do you know what the date is?"
He shrugged. "No. Why?" He wondered if he'd missed Christmas. He didn't remember Ivory being particularly fond of it.
"It's the tenth.. Or something. OF MARCH."
"Oh." He paused. "So?" Evie noticed that while he acted unphased, he was slightly paler.
"The Truce, Four," she started pacing. "[yeep] him, Two sent us away right now so we wouldn't be able to train! We'll be at a huge disadvantage, and- I'm Nine," this was so unlike Evie, to be scared, that Col blinked.
"C'mon. All it means is you'll move up a few ranks, a few new chores, that's all," she was making him nervous, talking like this. Evie laughed bitterly. "You've done, what two final rounds?" Col asked, trying to remember.
"One," she corrected. "I... Forfeited against Eight."
Now he remembered. That final against the previous Nine had shaken her bad...

Arianna shook her head. "In French no is "non", right?" She said to Zack. a year of French class gave her at least that knowledge.

"Lalala...School sucks." Summer kicked her feet in the air and wondered how french people reacted to being lit on fire. Or at least the voice did. Silly thing.

"You could challenge someone..." Col trailed off. There was no point in challenging Eight, for multiple reasons. Seven... Unless there's only one challenger strong enough to defeat Evie, and they decide to forfeit against her, it doesn't make a difference.
And if she challenged anyone higher up, she'll still just move up one place, unless she challenged MULTIPLE people, and... This was getting no where.
It was going to be sad to lose Evie, the only surviving member of his original team, but that was life, he supposed.
You might win some, but you're going to lose sooner or later.
He placed a hand on her shoulder, briefly- then walked away.
It was exactly what he'd done to Vin (the fourth member of their original four, and the second they'd lost) before he'd died.
Evie knew it meant she was already dead to him.

He walked back up the stairs. The rest of the orphanage should come back from school soon, and they'd get to start their investigation. Should get this over as quickly as possible.

Nine was going to die, huh?
Zach leaned up against the wall.
He was glad he followed the Numbers once they left, since the conversation was intresting enough.
Thankfully, he remembered to stay far enough away that it was hard to detect him, but he caught almost every word they said.
Truce match. He almost forgot about that.
Anyway, the conversation at least enlightened him a bit on what to expect for the next match.
Zach slid silently off the wall, and started to head back to the room once Col had left.

"Ugh. I need some kind of Learn-French-In-1-Hour manual." Jade sighed. "Meanwhile, I'll just be saying everything at school with a throaty and heavily fake accent."
She thought about it for a few minutes.
"I fancy 'bum 'nickers." Jade rumbled in a very throatily way cheerfully.

"You do realize that means You fancy butt underpants right? And your going for more of an immature imitation of British." Kaylie rolled her eyes.

"Don't ruin the fun, mate. Or, as I would prefer, you load of tosh." Jade grinned.

A bus had parked outside and scruffy kids were pouring out of its doors.
Raven looked at her watch. Wtf?! Then she realized she hadn't updated it to France time.
The orphanage lady stuck her head around the door. "It's tea time," she said, then scurried off.

Zach strolled back into his room, looking around for the Kitten.

"I actually don't really know. I thought they only had "tea time" in Britian." Annabell mumbled, gazing out of the window.
How old were some of these kids?

"I'm not looking forward to it." Jade simply said and sat back onto her bed.
"Bet they're gonna serve crumpets too huh? Well. I'm mildly allergic to untidy orphans. Incredible excuse." she sank back down in her bed.



"Well. Excuse me, but I don't believe Madam would appreciate that." Kaylie stated matter-of-factly.

"Then maybe you should request to move rooms- no, there aren't any spares," Raven smiled sardonically, being an "untidy orphan" herself. And seeing as Badger was pretending to be an orphan (hello, orphanage!) it wouldn't sit to well with the lady. Or Nine or Four for that matter. "I think she means dinner."
She then noticed, looking around at the room, that there were two spare beds, one of which was extremely messed up; obviously an "untidy orphan" slept there. She hadn't thought, for some reason, they'd be sharing a room with someone else.
Shrugging, she began descending the stairs.

Blaine noticed Charm's presence. "Yeah?" He said without looking up from the mag.

"Dinner. Wonderful." Jade murmured.
She looked at what Raven was looking at, a spare untidy bed. "Orphan buddies." she said bluntly.
Jade sighed as she dragged herself downstairs for dinner.


"Jade's gonna be a horror at dinner." Kaylie chuckled as she left too.

Evie was the first one at the table, having nothing else to do. The lady was having a one-sided "conversation" with her (basically, she was talking to herself), while Nine was staring with intense concentration at the table with the unmistakable look in her eyes that said she wanted, more than anything, to grab something and snap it in half. And then continue ripping it into tinier and tinier pieces, until it ceases to exist. And then burning the spot where it occupied, and scattering the ashes over the sea, so that all evidence of its existence is erased.
Violently.

Raven acted unaffected by this and sat down next to her, quietly.

Jade emerged next and sat across from the lady until she was shoved into the next seat when Kaylie sat down, smiling, where Jade was two seconds ago.

"Manners much?" Jade fixed her position on the chair.

"Well. Depends. I don't believe you have enough to satisfy Madame." Kaylie hissed under her breath and went back to smiling brightly at the lady.

More likely, he just didn't care.
Zach shrugged. "Dinner. Hoping they serve better than IoD."
With that, he left.
After getting to the table, he sat on the other side of Raven.
Half of him sat there because it was still currently his life goal annoy the heck out of her as much as possible.
The other half wanted to keep an eye on Evie to see how she acted as a dead Number walking, while still staying far away enough to not get attacked in case of a mental breakdown.
That being said, he stared at the empty plate in front of him while watching Evie out of the corner of his eye.

Annabell sat down at a random seat next to Jade, wondering what kind of tea they would have, if any. She hoped raspberry... But the orphanage was kind of ratty, and she half expected it to be plain, unsweetened tea...
'Wait, aren't I here on a mission? I feel like I should be invisibly searching for rooms or something...' Annabell thought to herself, pondering.

I used google translate, so prepare for a fail XD

The orphanage kids arrived in one great blast; one moment they weren't there; the next moment they were ALL there. Luckily, there were enough seats.
Almost all of them seemed to have the same brown hair, light complexions and dark brown eyes. They were ten year olds and there were sixteen year olds, but they all wore the same gray uniform, presumbably their school one. Most of them were girls, about two-thirds.
None of them seemed to notice any of the newcomers, although they stood out like swans among ducks.
Raven got impatient. "Uh, hello?" She lightly kicked one of them under the table.
The girl turned to her, and blinked."Vous parlez drole." She giggled. "Qu'est-il arrive a vos cheveux?"
One of her friends nudged her. "English," was audible before they lapsed back into their fast conversation.
Raven's face: O_o
Evie looked up and snorted. "Nous n'avons pas aller chez le coiffeur meme chose que vous. Nous sommes nouveaux."
They looked at Ivory and smiled. "Quel est votre nom?"
"E- Ivory," she answered. COL had always called her Evie.
"Venez avec nous."
Evie followed them.

Zach was completely lost in the conversations.
It could have had something to do with the fact he couldn't understand French.
"This is stupid." he muttered, and laid his head on the space in front of him, basically headesking.

Raven shrugged in a, 'join the club' manner. It didn't look like Evie was coming back, but the food was being passed down, and Raven looked at it with distaste. It had the look and texture of sludge and smelled like burnt rubber.

Zach picked his head up, and stared at the food.
"Drat. I thought it was going to be DECENT." he grabbed a plate anyway and started to relucantly chomp down on it anyway.
"Not the WORSE I ever had..." he mused, then glanced at Raven.
"I think that...", he dropped his voice to a whisper, "All of these disgusting scientist places have horrible food."

"Votre un idiot." the girl shrugged.

Kaylie suppressed a loud giggle from next to Jade.
"Bonjour il. Je suis Kaylie. Ne parlez pas ? cet idiot." she spoke to the girl.

"I heard the word idiot." Jade mumbled and sank down lower in her chair.

"Vous deux, robe joliment." the girl eyed Kaylie and Jade's clothing.

"Why thank you." Jade smiled, brightening up.

"You understand that?" Kaylie asked, curious.

"Oh Kaylie, dear. I always understand a compliment." Jade grinned widely as she pushed away the food.

"Nah. Kitten, his lab had amazing food. A wife of one of the scientists there was an excellent cook and prepared all the meals... Once a week we had crayfish," Raven muttered under her breath longingly. She grabbed a spoon and wondered if it would be easier to drink it. ALMOST.
Steelling herself, she stuck some in her mouth and chewed. It tasted like.... Pancake mix with a little bit of salt.
Strange, but it wasn't that bad, actually.
She looked at Jade and Kaylie. "Guess I I'll have to find another use for that popcorn."

Zach let out a sigh, and jabbed the slop with his spoon, then jerk it away, watching the food stick and stretch with the spoon as if it was rubber.
He wondered if he could cement bricks together with this stuff.
Maybe that's how they stuck the Eilfle Tower together.
With the pancake glue.
"So, you know the Kitten?" he questioned Raven.

Annabell nibbled on the mixture a bit, but wasn't too keen on the fact that it was her supper. In te end, she decided that going to bed with a half empty stomach might be okay after all.

"Oh, yeah, we met there," she mumbled between eating. "He's cute, don't you think?" She asked teasingly.

"We all do speak English, you know," a girl laughed, and passed Evie a bag of chips. "Only we like teasing."
Evie shook her head, smiling outwardly; although she did not feel like being social at all at the moment, the mission required it. She passed the bag on.
There was also cake, fizzy drinks, and some random French stuff which Evie didn't bother trying. Apparently they'd nicked it all.
"So, who are the others?"
Evie explained about the other orphans.
"You know, three kids came here just a few days ago. Two are English like you, and the other is-" She paused, and shrugged. "I don't know, something else. Doesn't talk to anyone."
Evie hid her interest. "Don't know them."

"I've seen cuter." Zach stated in monotone, waving his hand dissmissly, sarcastic.
"Do you remember what "that place" was, exactly?"
"Avez-vous entendu ce qui s'est pass? apr?s l'?cole aujourd'hui?" a girl who was right next to Zach whispered to her friend.
"I hate foreign languages. You can never know if people are insulting you are asking you where the bathroom is." Zach grumbled.

Jade happened to be chewing intently on the food before somebody passed her a wrapped hamburger, then she spit out what was in her mouth and unwrapped the hamburger.
"Thanks." she said to the girl who called her an idiot, who also happened to pass the hamburger.

"So... school tomorrow. Can't wait...." Jade dragged that sentence, because maybe they didn't seem so shabby anymore.

"How old were you? In the lab."
He ignored Raven's obsession with guys, which was only measured by the weird fact she wanted to tell him about it.
