Winter nodded, "Exactly, and I don't know this territory very well so I'm not sure where we can find a river. Do you have any ideas on where we cold find a river to swim in?" She asked, wondering how long Irascible had been in this forest.

"Hm... No." Irascible confessed. "But I'm sure if we look around for a little while we'll find one." He said as he stood up.

Demine chuckled. "I'm sorry," He said as he licked her ear.

Winter nodded and sniffed the air for the scent of water. She then remembered that fresh water didn't carry a particular scent but she did smell fish. She then walked off towards the smell of fish, "I think I smell fish, and that means a river is probably close by." She told Irascible and she continued to follow the scent.

Irascible nodded and smelled the air until he caught the fish smell too. He followed Winter.

Winter continued to followed the scent until she came across a river. She crouched down and leaped into the river. The cool water felt great on her fur and she began to swim around in the water.

"That's good," Demine said as he closed his eyes and smiled.

Irascible started running as he saw the river and he jumped him, creating a splash. He threw his head out of the water. "The water feels better and warmer than I thought it would," he noted.

Winter nodded, "Yeah, it does. Its probably about midday so thats why its so warm." She agreed, swimming around in the water for several moments before diving under the surface so that none of her white and black fur could be seen.

Winter swan around underwater and finally she resurfaced. She breathed deeply and then shook her head dry, the water droplets splashing back into the river as she did so.

Irascible swam underwater and lay there for a few seconds, feeling peaceful. Then he swam up and breathed in a deep breath of air. He gasped for breath as Winter threw droplets on him. He chuckled a bit.

Winter looked moved at Irascible and said, "The water is very soothing." She then fell silent and continued to swim around the river, her paws paddling her in circles. She then took a drink from the river, the water refreshed her throat greatly.

"Yeah," Irascible agreed as he raised his hind legs and floated on the top of the river. He lapped up a couple mouthfuls of water and then just lay there. It is soothing.

Irascible kept swimming until he heard something. He stopped and looked in the direction the noise had come from. "Hey.. Did you hear that?" He asked.

Winter perked her ears as she heard the sound, "Yeah, what was that?" She questioned, looking towards the direction the noise had come from. She didn't know what had made the noise but whatever had made it sounded big.

Irascible jumped as he heard a roar. "Bear!" He screeched as a black bear tore through the trees over to the water. Irascible jumped out of the water, shook his pelt dry, and growled at the beast.

Winter leaped out of the lake and slowly shook the tiny water droplets from her fur. She then slowly and calmly climbed up a tree and slowly jumped up to a branch that hung right above the bear and she crouched down.

The bear roared and charged at Irascible. Irascible widened his eyes in fear, and then narrowed them.
I can take down a dumb bear, he told himself.
Irascible jumped on the bear's shoulder and tore at it's flank.
The bear roared in anger.

Winter leaped from the branch and landed square on the bear's shoulders. She sunk her fangs into the bear's vertebra and she dug her claws into it's back. The bear roared and managed to shake Winter off, and the fox went soaring off the bear's back and straight into a large tree.

"Winter!" Irascible yelled as he saw her get flung into the tree. His eyes turned to the bear, now full of hatred. "You'll pay for that!" He said as he tore into the bear's eyes, and bit down hard on the bear's throat.
The bear was having a hard time breathing now. It's paws were flying everywhere.

Winter struggled to her feet and then jumped back into the fight. She rammed her body into the bear's front legs, causing it to fall to the ground. She was trying to give Irascible an opening to finish off the bear because she felt to weakened to kill it herself.

As the bear fell, Irascible gave the killing bit to the throat. The bear roared, and fell to the ground. After a few moments the beast stopped breathing.
Irascible jumped off the beast and walked over to Winter, gasping for breath. "Good job," he said.

Winter nodded, "You too, we make a pretty good team." She commented, she then began to lick the wound she had recieve when she had hit that tree. She managed to lick the gash clean and she looked back at Irascible, "Are you hurt?"

Irascible nodded in agreement. "Yeah," he said. He then looked at his front left leg. "Yes, the bear bit my leg," he said as he started licking it clean. "I'm alright, though. Are you okay? The bear threw you into that tree pretty hard." He said, concerned.

Winter shook her head, "Don't worry, I'm fine." She assured him. She shook her shoulder a but to make sure it was feeling alright, she could tell he was concerned for her and she hadn't seen anybody concerned for her in a long time.

Irascible looked at her with an uncertain look. "Okay... I'll take your word for it- but if something hurts- you tell me." He said. He wanted to show Winter there was still some good in the world. And he really did genuinely care about her.

Winter looked up at the sky and said, "It's almost dark, we should go find shelter before its completely dark." She said, "Any ideas of where we can find shelter?"
