One of the guards gently shoved Katia through the hallway into the cafeteria. She was a bit late because they had been waving the dead rat in her face. It was freshly imprinted in her mind, half of the rat, blood still dripping, the glazed eyes and panicked expression that it had took on while she had ended its life. She dropped her head in shame. She also made excuses for herself in her mind. The rat was dirty and disgusting, if it bit her, she might have caught a disease. Yeah, and why should she care if she ended the scrawny things life? Hmph, she rose her head again and went quickly to get her food. Uck, what was this? They were mocking the girl, who once was rich. They had given her extremely small peas arranged in a way caviar wouldve been, the terrible uncooked meat place on the plate with mock finesse. The bread had just been shoved in an undecided lump in the corner. Well if they were going to mock her they shouldve done it right at least! Her cheeks burned with rage as she quickly trotted to a table in the corner and began to devour her food. At first, Katia hadn't eaten a thing, but primal hunger took over and she had soon forgotten what nice food even taste like. As if she had lost her tastebuds, she frankly didn't care what she ate anymore.

Raising his hand up enthusiastically, Eytan gave Fang a small excited smile, ready to see the boy shock himself. How stupid, he considered the action as pure suicide, but hey, it wasn't him, so there was no problem.

Nearly jolting out of his seat at that question, Alexin frowned in confusion, scratching the back of his head. It seemed like a strange thing to ask, but he was fairly used to such things. He grinned sheepishly, a little embarassed about his answer.
"N-not really." he muttered. "Most of the scientists think I'm way too soft on the Gifted. I have some acquintances from the older teens here."

Opaline frowned a bit feeling sorry for the friendly boy. It was strange that his gentle nature is the reason for his lack of friends.She could easily sympathize with him since she didn't have any friends at all.

It amused her how he call her kind The Gifted as most people didn't view their power as a gift. Their abilities were much more like tools used in experimental purposes.

Opaline wanted to make Alexin feel a bit better.

-"Well i am your friend now." She explained with a smile on her face.

"You seem excited." Fang said to Eytan. "I am, too." With the comment, he carefully put his left hand on the collar. He looked around, eyeing the positions where the guards stood. Once Fang was sure that none of them were looking, he moved his right hand to the back of the collar, but kept his left in the front.

Taking slow, steady breathes, Fang slowly tightened his grip on the shock collar. Then, he stared at Eytan with a smirk on his face, as he got ready to use his ability.

As quickly as possible, Fang pulled the collar through his neck, before quickly tossing it at Eytan, before it could shock him. It happened in less than 2 seconds, so not much people would've seen how he had taken the collar off. It would merely seem as though he had done something with it using his hands.

Shaken out of his embarassment, Alexin gave out a small smile, a rosy blush standing out on his pale cheeks. "Thank you." his voice was fairly quiet, more so than usual. "I needed that." he admitted, looking at Opaline with pale blue eyes, unusually lighter than before. "I wish you could see outside." he stated, dreamily. "It's really beautiful. There's a white blanket over everything, the trees are white. And there's this big willow tree in the garens. It's hanging low near the ground, covered with snow. It looks like an igloo." he chuckled.

Having been watching intently what Fang was doing, Eytan had a smirk plastered to his face. However when the activated shock collar was directed his way, he flinched back, letting out a sudden yelp. Fang's collar plopped down at his chest, sending a hundred volts of electricity through him. He let out a blood-curdling scream, tipping backwards on his chair and falling on the cold concrete with a dull thump. His eyes were wide and full of fear and shock as he convulsed, writhing miserably on the ground. Helpless gasps left his lips. At the sped of light he'd managed to throw the collar off him. But the shock that penetrated his body had also set off his own collar. Another set of a hunder volts passed through him and his deafening screams continued. At one point his eyes flickered shut and he ceased his writhing, limp on the ground.

Opaline usually couldn't keep her thought on what people were saying but when talking to Alexin it seemed she didn't have that problem. She imagined the willow tree he was describing. Her lips slipped into a small smile but her face all together looked saddened.

-"Maybe i will see it one day." She said in a low voice while looking at the ground in front of her.

-"I won't stay here forever." She added, very much confident in her words.

Miki sat, propped up against the wall. She felt as though she was part of it, ignored and lonely. Nobody ever talks to a wall, it would look silly. That's what it would be like talking to her, she figured. She wondered how the guards expected her to get her food. It didn't matter though, she really wasn't hungry. Miki watched as everyone ate, talked and moved. What she would give to be able to walk over to someone and talk to them! It was all she ever wanted, Miki had never had a friend. She felt like a phantom, just a spectator watching over the world as it moved along without her. She was there, but to everyone else, she had never been there at all.

Miki could not help crying a little as she remembered her parents taking her places, no matter where she went, she was stared at weirdly, it was the only attention she ever got. People saw a disabled and probably mentally challenged child. But she was perfectly sane, she just couldn't tell them that.

"Why me? Why did it have to be me?" she thought, a tear, rolling down her face as she stared blankly forward, oblivious now to the activity in the cafeteria.

Katia watched, her mouth agape as Eytan hit the ground. Those shock collars were much worse as she expected. She clutched her mouth and her eyes became moist. The pure electricity, a double shock, had knocked him right out. Did he even have a pulse? She felt compelled to run and check but pulled herself back, turned around once more and returned to eating like nothing happened. The tasteless meal turned to paste in her mouth and she caught herself almost turning around again. She shook her head, hands trembling as she continued to try her best to eat.

@Jupiter_hollow Now I feel like a horrible person. First, he makes @Seaangel 's charrie cry, now he almost kills Eytan. ALMOST, right? Meaning he isn't dead? .-.
BTW, Where are the guards at a time like this? They are never around when they are wanted or needed. XD

The collar flew towards Fang. He desperately tried to knock it aside with his hand, as it was flying towards him to quick for him to use his powers.

A small part collar hit his hand, and he yelped before falling on the ground as he felt at least 65 volts of electric ity. It was a good thing only a small part of his body had touched the collar.

Meanwhile, the collar went flying once again.

"I hope so." Alexin's voice was small, faint, barely audible. He seemed closed up in himself all the time. A bit too shy, a bit too clumsy. He wasn't considered even a part of the staff, since he was too nice to the experiments. He'd thought he was worse-off. But now that he'd had a chance to witness Opaline's condition of life, he had to scold himself. The experiments were trated in a barbaric manner. He sighed.
"Yes, you will be out one day." he nodded in agreement.

Miki had been stationed on one of the lone tables, sitting on the very edge, alone. She was immobile so she'd been carried by a guard to the cafeteria. Said guard had quickly left the girl to sit and had gone to retraive breakfast for her. He was back with a plate full of half-cooked beef, salad, which looked suspiciously fresh and a piece of bread on the corner of the plate. Plopping down across the table from Miki, he set the table down, cutting the beef into tiny, digestible pieces. "Hope you can eat this." he stated, looking at the girl questioningly.

Eytan lay limp on the ground, the fingers of his hand still twitching slightly. Some of the guards had rushed to him, checking if he had a pulse. He was alive, thankfully, but in bad state. His chest, where the collar had struck was burned, the skin slipping off freely. His hands and neck were in the same condition.

Christa had been in shock as the boy, she thought his name was Eythan, was shocked. She didn't notice the collar coming straight at her and it landed on her foot. She shrieked and she fell over, clutching her foot. Thankfully she hadn't taken the full shock of the collar but her eyes were still wide and she was shivering.

The collar was once again flying.

After this, Katia didn't see the collar flying. She turned to Miki and walked over. 'Hi Miki.' she shuddered, smiling. Did you see that? It was-' clunk. The collar hit her straight in the back and she fell onto Miki, dropping back onto the floor sitting down. The collar had hit off of her spine and flew back into the air, leaving three dents where the spikes had hit and thrown the little girl with the impact and shock. Luckily for her it was not TWO of these collars, and she was still conscious, barely. But if it wasn't for the fact she had been in front of Miki this couldve been a lot worse.

The collar fell on the floor, not shocking anybody. ((I have no idea HOW a collar can just bump everybody and still be sent flying. AAANYWHO!!! We're not shocking anymore, alright?))

Fang lay on the ground, hurt, but still conscience. He groaned loudly before propping himself up on one elbow. "Owwwwwwwwwwwwww." he said quietly to no one in particular. He lay on the ground, completely unaware of the collar that could still be flying around.

Opaline was unsure if she should ask Alexin to aid her in escaping. He could end up in a very dangerous situation if he helped her, even this amount of 'kindness' which he had shown her up to now seemed to be upsetting the scientists.

Opaline had been practicing using her powers lately and was uncovering new ways in which they could be used. Also,she had already earned one comrade. This place was full of super powered people who all wanted to escape just as much as she did there was no need to drag Alexin into this.

-"You are very interesting. Also you look like a ghost, every little bit of you is white, except you eyes that is." She commented on his appearance. This was mostly to drag her own thought away from the escape plan.

"Oh, hello Katia." Miki said quietly and telepathically. She said nothing to the guard, she didn't want to frighten him. She figured it was better for her not to make him think she was anything but disabled and mindless. At least, at the moment. She also wasn't sure if she should move her arm to let him know she could eat by herself. Though, it probably wasn't a good idea, as much as she wanted to hold a fork and eat with it.

Letting out a hearty chuckle, Alexin flashed Opaline a bright smile, scratching the back of his neck a bit. His oure white hair fell down on his pale face. "Y-yeah, you haven't seen me with sunburns." he joked slightly. "You're really pale yourself. More so than me." she looked at the reddish mark on her neck and cheek that he had left earlier with his flashlight. "And more sensitive than me too. I'm sorry."

In a matter of seconds, havoc was brought down in the cafeteria. The experiments darted around, ducking under the tables as the collar flew around. At one point, the device plopped down on the floor, charred and burned to bits. Additional guards entered the room, checking on the injured. Eytan had been carried out in a strecher, the collar couldn't be taken off. It was burned together with the skin of his neck. Christia's foot was examined and she was considered fairly better than the rest. However, the girl's heart had been affected as well so she was brought to the medical wing.

The guard across the table from Miki had jolted up as the collar had embedded itself into Katia's back, sending her tumbling over Miki and causing them to fall on the ground. He had darted to their aid, helping Miki up first and setting her on the bench again before checking on Katia. The girl had shallow breathing, barely able to keep conscious. Her shirt was charred at the back of her neck, revealing three small scars from the spikes with burned skin around them. Bending down, he picked the girl up, bridal style and trotted out of the cafeteria.
"I'll be right back," he reassured Miki.

A separate dozen of guards literally pounced onto Fang. There had been few that had seen him take off his collar, but it was sure that he was indeed the troublemaker. Chained and tied up, he was dragged miserably towards his cage, without anyone bothering to check on his wounds. "You're spending a lifetime here, rat!" one guard hissed, pushing him into his cage.

Miki sat by herself once again. "That's okay, I'll just wait." she thought. As if there was anything else she could do. No one was watching. This was her chance, the food was in front of her, she could test out her arm finally. Reaching out, she picked up a piece of meat. "Oh!" she thought, dropping it. The meat landed on the floor beneath the table. She had been alarmed at the strange texture. After all, she had never picked something up before. Reaching out a second time, she grabbed a piece of meat and pushed it into her mouth. She was able to chew it, but very slowly. It felt so good to do something by herself for the very first time in her life.

Katia could barely open her eyes. A full year of peace and now a hole bucket of chaos in about 2 hours... When she did open her eyes, she realised the scenery was moving. But black was seeping in. No.. Not yet. She wanted to stay conscious longer... She could barely hear a thing, as if she was underwater. Worse than that, she realised how shallow her breathing was. Okay, focus. Deep breaths, in, out, in, out. By the time Katia felt her breathing was okay she realised that her sight was like peeping through a keyhole. In, out, in, out. The darkness had won, and she lost consciousness, but her breathing was back to normal.
