I eat books for breakfast. XD

I can read a 200-page book, maybe even a 300-page book, in a day. And I have. XP

@chowchow2012

You might have read it already, but Stargirl. And its sequel. I could read those books over and over. They're a great example of the ~groundbreaking~ idea that writing for teens/children does not have to be dumbed down.

Also, I just gave a very close friend your age my collection of Ray Bradbury short stories, as well as Dandelion Wine and Fahrenheit 451. I loooove Ray Bradbury. Read him before you're required to read him.

Life of Pi (Fantasy Adventure) by Yann Martel.

It changed my view on a lot of things.

@chowchow2012

Twilight:New Moon. By Stephanie Myers. For the sake of your boredom DONT READ Lord of The Flies By William Golding, I think. Its the worst book ever. DX

Aww, yeah.
I've been reading City of Ashes, it's the second book of
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. City of Bones is the first one (they're making a movie of it soon) I love it and I would suggest it to you if you enjoy Fiction/Fantasy novels, it's quite humorous too, there's romance, a great plot and lovable characters.

I'm also reading To Kill a Mockingbird for school. It's honestly a little complicated for me because some vocabulary is unfamiliar , but I think it's a good story in general and has a great moral.

I'm considering Life of Pi.

@chowchow2012 I haven't read all of @lucky_cricket 's suggestions, but I agree 100% on all the ones I have read, including LOTR (or the Hobbit...it's an easier read if you can't get into LOTR), The Book Thief (I HIGHLY recommend this one), The Help, and The Glass Castle (also highly recommended).

I will also recommend:

A Separate Peace by John Knowles--it's fiction, it's a classic, and it's one of my favorite books ever. It is kind of sad, but I absolutely love it.

Sabriel by Garth Nix--it's fantasy, it's a little bit on the long side, but doesn't feel long, and it's REALLY good. There are actually more books in the series if you read it and like it, but this one is my favorite. 😊

Tick Tok by James Patterson

It does have cussing in it, but nothing sexual, or weird.

The Hardy Boys! It mayb be old, but my brother has all like 70 of them and they're really good!

Deleted • 18 January 2013 at 4:16 PM

@james-bond I recommend:

These ones are definitely safe for your age:

Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey. first book in the Harper Hall Trillogy
(Actually any of Anne McCaffrey's books, I love them all & they all revolve around dragons!!!) ❤ī¸

Howl's Moving castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Now before you say it must be just like the movie by Miyazaki, I'll tell you right now that there are some HUGE differences & the book came before the movie, it's pretty amazing & hugely entertaining!

Joust by Mercedes Lackey. Another fantastic dragon book but it vexes me that the dragons don't talk >☚ī¸

These are a little more iffy imo because of gore/violence:

White Fang by Jack London. So sad, but a really good book, just really really violent & gory.

Through Wolf's eyes by Jane Lindskold book one of the Firekeeper Saga. My all time favorite series now ❤ī¸ After a fire tragically destroys everything she has known, a young girl is raised by a sympathetic pack of intelligent wolves. She spends her whole life learning the ways of her new pack & surviving the harsh wilderness by their side. All of that changes however when ambitious Earl Kestrel from the neighboring kingdom sets out on a journey to find the lost Prince Bardens mountain settlement and bring back any survivors. She is then thrown into an alien but strangely familiar world of human politics, infighting nobility & an ancient magic that all had thought to annihilated long ago. With Blind Seer, her protective and constantly learning blue eyed pack mate by her side, what could possibly go wrong? 😉

@chapus2009 I loved the Silverwing series 😃 so I second your recommendation!!

LEVEN THUMBS and the gateway to Foo 😸
It's about a boy who has child abuse at home. His dad died before he was born and his mom died at childbirth so his mom's half-sister got stuck with him. She treats him horribly.
-spoiler-
There's someone else who comes with him girl, her name is Judy but she's known as Winter because she has blonde, almost white hair. She experiences child abuse as well from her "mom", Jane. (MEGA SPOILER) At the hospital, someone took a baby and put her in it's place because the other baby, named Judy, because they were going to have a hard life (but that SEEMS like the reason but it's not).
(GIGANTIC, MEGA HUGE, BRAIN BUSTING SPOILER) At the hospital, when a nurse was wrapping Winter up in a blanket, she mumbled to herself,"I feel bad about you... living with that women..." and than "Judy" SPOKE,"Don't worry. I'll be fine," and fell asleep. There was no other person there so the nurse thought she was imagining it.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck is a wonderful classic to read. It's a little long but it has beautiful descriptions and a great story.

Deleted • 19 January 2013 at 7:45 PM

@james-bond Oh, heh woops, I don't really know. I got confused while reading the posts & meant to ping @chowchow2012 who stated their age in the first post. 😊" my mistake, um, even though I don't know how old you are, um, you could still consider some of those books... *edges out of the room awkwardly* Wow, this is embarrassing, I'm sorry about that v_v"

@chowchow2012 No I haven't but I have the old VHS of it, I haven't seen that in forever though, maybe I'll be able to find it & watch it again. I will say that White Fang is one of my favorite books though 😊

@whitescales
You should definitly read it. Its like the opposite of white fang.

SUMMARY-(thought you might want one)
So this dog named Buck gets kidnapped and sold for quick money for being a sled dog. Buck basically has to learn how to survive the wilderness and harsh life of a sled dog 😋. Sorry for the vagueness I don't want to spoil anything

Deleted • 19 January 2013 at 7:55 PM

@chowchow2012 I think I will next time I can get to the library, it sounds good to me & thanks for not spoiling it 😊 It's better to be surprised at an ending rather than know it imo.
