I hear the shriek, and take off after where the sound came from. I see Featherstar running toward the sound as well. "Sister! Do you know who that was?" I ask as I run alongside her.

"Sort of. It sounded like Redheart Darkpaw's mentor." I mew as I take off even faster into the trees, Fireclaw far behind. I stop and gaze down at her body. At the same time I hear Flaretail yowl out in anguish. "Redheart! It must have been a fox."

I catch up to Featherstar, and stare at the body. My tail flicks, and I look up at Flaretail, a little suspicious of him.

"Follow me, Icepaw," I said. Just as we got into the middle of the forest, I whirled around and slammed my jaws into her neck, killing her. She screamed and went silent. I flipped around in a lake for a few minutes, then I ran away from the murder site.

I played like I was heartbroken. I winked at Flaretail. "Mommy, why? He was such a good mentor, oh Mommy...." I said. I whispered to Flaretail, "Flaretail, would you mind sparing Sunpaw and Mom when we rule the forest?" I asked. "Sure," He whispered back.

I nodded approvingly at Darkpaw. Then turned to Flaretail. Something didn't feel right with him. He was hiding something, and I got tense around him. He was going to do something that was most likely going to put my family in danger.

Brackenflower's ears flicked as she caught the sound of a mouse scurrying across some fallen leaves. Crouching, she crept towards it, careful not to alert the small creature to her presence. When she got close enough, she unsheathed her claws and pounced, catching it and delivering a swift blow to the neck, killing it instantly.

I nod, and turn to Darkpaw and Sunpaw. "You can't be around Flaretail anymore. I don't trust him, don't get near him you two." I say, then pull them over to me. "Understand?"

"Good job Brackenflower! See Flamepaw, that's how you do it." Moonbeam smiled, then went silent. He scented the air, it couldn't be good. Moonbeam padded up to Brackenflower, out of earshot of Flamepaw, "Do you scent that? It can't be anything good, it smells of fear and blood. I'm going to investigate, stay a little behind alright." He turned to Flamepaw, smiling the while, "Alright Flamepaw, this is part of your appraisal. You're going to go ahead of me, be stealthy and try to lose me alright." He said to the young apprentice, not wanting to scare her just yet. She wouldn't be able to lose Moonbeam just yet, and should something go wrong he was fast enough to stop it.

I screech as Darkpaw lunges at me. I black out and waken in Starclan's hunting grounds. "Am-am I dead?" I whisper.
"No Icepaw. There is someting you must do first." A voice mews deep and kind. I see a muscular white tom padding out "YOu and Flamepaw are to fufill a prophecy." He mews and I awaken.

Featherstar~
"Icepaw?" I ask my blood turning cold. Iturn and sprint in hte idrection of her scent to find her standing up on shakey legs. "Icepaw!" I yell out as I throw myself into my daughter. "I'm so happy you're safe."

"Fireclaw!" I shreik out towards my brother. "Help me carry Icepaw back home." As I yowl out I hear and scent Scarheart approaching.
"Here let me." He mews and grabs her by the scruff. I grab her body and thank him for hte help.

Flamepaw~
When Moonbeam runs off I sneak around into hte forest to see Redheart lying on the ground dead. I pad over and grab her carrying her mostly dragging her back to camp.

I drag Icepaw into Starpaw's den. "Please help her. I found her nad she looked almost dead." I mew urgently to the medcine cat.
"Of course."
"Thank you." I mew.

FIve sunrises later (Days)
Featherstar~
"Starpaw, is Icepaw going to be alright?" I mew to her.
"Of course she will be ready to tell us what attacked her soon." As she talks Icepaw yowls out.
"Ah! Darkpaw s-stop!" Then she falls silent as she falls back into sleep.
I excahnge a worried glance with Starpaw.

"Sure but only that far." She warns me.

I let Crookedtail lead me to the mound and leave her behind. When I reach the Sunstone I see the ohter medcine cats Silverwhisker, Thornheart, Thundertalon, and a new smaller ginger hse-cat with Silverwhisker. "Hello." I say to her. "Is this your new apprentice?" I ask Silverwhisker.
"Yes."
As we enter hte hole nad neter the room with the stone we press our noses against it.
"Starpaw. You're here." Riverfur my Starclan mentor mews. "You are a good cat. Now from this moment on you will be known as Starpelt." She mews to me nad I am now a full medcine cat. "And be cautious of dark paws." She mews before fading.
