{Hollowpaw}

"Yeah!" I cried. Anything was better than gathering moss. I also kinda wanted to prove that I could hunt after yesterday's incident. I padded over to Redleaf and Waspclaw and we went about our hunting. I looked back at Thornpaw and saw a sparkle of jealousy in his eyes. I tried not to purr in amusement.

{Thornpaw}

I heard Redleaf and instantly felt jealous. Why would anyone let HER of all cats, hunt? After all, everyone knows that I hunt better- WAY better than that scrawny puny sister of mine. I continued on to gather moss. I scooped some off and combed thorns out of it. Then, I dried it out. The elders ALWAYS complain when the moss is wet. I put some under my chin and some in my mouth to carry lots on the way back to camp.

I purred with amusement at how fast Hollowpaw agreed to go hunting."Ok then, i'll get Waspclaw."
I saw Waspclaw asking Madpaw if she wanted to go on the hunt, "Just us and Hollowpaw." I meowed to Waspclaw. I heard about what happened the other day and I did not want any other apprentice to show off in front of Hollowpaw.

{Waspclaw}
"Ok then Redleaf." I meowed. And I followed her and Hollowpaw out of camp. "Lets head to the river." I heard Redleaf meow. "okay." I sighed, all I really wanted to do right now was curl up and sleep, and maybe have some fresh-kill.

We arrived at the river. I could scent voles and mice and fish all waiting to be fed to WaveClan. I decided I would catch some fish, so I waited near the river. I spotted a nice mid-size fish and swiped it out of the water. My claws sank deep in it's scales and it went limp. Suddenly, I heard something. I whirled my head around but my tail hit the fish into the water. It was too far for my paws so I jumped in. The cool icy water stung my pelt as I dived in. I grabbed the fish and paddled ashore. I shook the water out of my fur, accidentally hitting Redleaf and Waspclaw. "Sorry," I said dropping the fish in a small pile of prey.

Something cold and wet hit me in the side, I spun around with a suprised yowl to see Hollowpaw, soaked."Sorry." She meowed, dropping her prey in the small pile."Someone went for a swim I see." I growled. "Be careful next time!" I snarled.

{Redleaf}
"Waspclaw!" I meowed, fury in my voice, "Give her a chance! She is trying! Don't be so harsh on her!"
Waspclaw rolled his eyes, "I'm just trying to help her, she won't get better by being treated like a kit, thats for sure, Redleaf." He growled.
"And she won't learn if she's treated like she's a full grow warrior. She just an apprentice, don't be harsh!" I spat at him.Waspclaw flicked his ear, "Whatever, Red." He grummbled.
"Don't mind Waspclaw." I said softly to Hollowpaw.
"Everyone in the clan know's he's just a big grumpy fur ball."

I smiled at Redleaf. She was nice. I Heard something rustle in the bushes. Mouse! The wind in my fur told me that I was down wind so I was ready to catch this mouse. I dropped into a low crouch, moving ever so carefully. Finally, POUNCE! With one quick snap of my jaws, the mouse went limp. It had a fair amount of meat on it and I dropped it one the pile. Then, I continued.

"Nice catch!" I called to Hollowpaw as she added a mouse to the pile.I had caught one fair sized fish and two very fat water voles. Waspclaw had gotten two mice and one very big fish that could at lest fed three smaller cats."Ok." I meowed. "I think thats plently of prey.When we get to camp grab Thornpaw and Lavenderpaw and we can do battle training Hollowpaw.And mr.grump over there," I added with a flick of my tail at Waspclaw,"can stay at camp, i'll bring Littlefrost to help." I knew Littlefrost would help more then Waspclaw because because Hollowpaw was a small cat, and Littlefrost was the smallest warrior, only as big a an apprentice.
{Lavenderpaw}
Me and Snowpaw came out of the apprentice den and over to the fresh kill pile where Waspclaw,Redleaf,and Hollowpaw where adding fresh-kill.
"Wow!" Meowed Snowpaw as Waspclaw put a huge fish in the pile. Then I saw Hollowpaw walk up to us,"Hi Hollowpaw!" I meowed happly.

"Hi Lavenderpaw! Why don't you get some fresh-kill?" I nodded at the pile of delectable prey. "I think you, Thornpaw *ugh*, and I are training now. I'm gonna go find Thornpaw." I figured he'd be in the elder's den from moss collecting so I padded there first. "Ugh! THIS MOSS IS WET!!!!" one of the elders screamed. Thornpaw sighed and began squeezing it to get the moisture out of it. "C'mon Thornpaw, we have to train." his ears perked up and he stalked over to me. "Really?" he asked. I could see he was happy to get away from the elders. We padded away to Redleaf and Littlefrost.

[Thornpaw}

"THIS MOSS IS WET!!!!!" I sighed. the elders were so picky. I was happy when Hollowpaw walked in and told me it was time to train. I dropped what I was doing and padded with her where Redleaf and Littlefrost were waiting.

I lead the apprentices to a soft grassy clearing. "We can train here." I meowed. "Thornpaw, show me what you can do, Lavenderpaw, try to block his hits as he swipes at you."
{Littlefrost}
"And i'll train with you, Hollowpaw." I meowed. "So what battle move would you like to know? Pick something you know light cats can do." I added."We are smaller cats."
{Lavenderpaw}
I sighed. "Keep your claws sheathed." I meowed to Thornpaw. Then we started the practice battle.

"Hmm... How about something that can take enemies by surprise? After all, we ARE fast and light so we can easily rush an enemy. Right?"

{Thornpaw}

I stared into her eyes. I imagined my move. I lunged at her and moved to the side quickly, pivoting on one fore paw missing a swipe from Lavenderpaw. I leapt off of my forepaw and pinned her down.

"Good idea." I meowed. "You can always slip under the other cats belly and rake your claws across then as you pop up on their other side.Lets try that one,Thornpaw come here!" I called. Then I whispered in Hollowpaw's ear,"I'll tell him to practice battle with you, but don't tell him your using a new move, suprise him." Then I spoke to Thornpaw."Now I want you to practice with Hollowpaw."

I watched Thornpaw come up to me, a glint of satisfaction in his eyes. I'll show him that new move, and he'll never see it coming! I thought. He lunged at me, using the same move as he did on Lavenderpaw. He tried to pin me down, but I rolled away before he landed. I managed to *pretend* rake my claw against his hind quarters. He leaped up and went straight for me. I knew he was a strong fighter, so he'd obviously rather go face-to-face with me than having to try to outrun me. I waited and just before he reached me, I lay on my back and slid under his belly, raking my claws against his stomach, then jumping up and flipping him in mid-air. I pounced on him and pinned him down.

"Well done Hollowpaw!" I meowed, then I turned to Lavenderpaw."You almost had it, try to be a bit more fast next time.And Thornpaw, use more then one move, any cat could have seen that coming."
"Ok" I heard Redleaf meow,"I think it's time we got back to camp."

I was still in shock. My puny, little, weak sister just beat me in battle... I couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed although nobody could tell. I walked back to camp silently.

{Hollowpaw}

I felt overjoyed. I finally proved my worth and strength! I noticed Thornpaw was a little down. I decided not to tell anyone about the training.

I turned to Madpaw, and Shadowpaw as the two left the apprentices den. "Let's go hunting." I suggested, as Blazestar padded over.

{Blazestar}
"Deathmartyr, I need to talk to you. Alone." I meowed turning to the apprentices by her. "You two can go hunting with Featherpelt and Silentfall." I meowed, sending them to the two warriors.
I turned to Deathmartyr my eyes serious. "Come on." I meowed heading to the back of hte camp.

When we got to camp, I picked something out of the fresh-kill pile without looking, and settled down, I looked at the prey I picked, it was a fish, but to big for me to eat by myself. I looked around and saw Shadowpaw was going on patrol and Snowpaw was talking to Hollowpaw. I wanted to speak to Thornpaw about our practice battle, so a padded up to him."Hi Thornpaw!" I meowed,"want to share this fish?"

I saw Hollowpaw come back to camp, and padded up to her."How did training go?" I asked. She looked happier then she had been when she had first come back from hunting with Redleaf and Waspclaw.

I looked up to see Redleaf and Waspclaw entering the camp. "Waspclaw, come over here!" I called, flicking my tail towards the cat.

I pushed past Hollowpaw and Snowpaw as I bounded out of the camp following the cats leading the hunting patrol.

"Waspclaw, come over here!" I looked up to see Blazestar calling my name. "What now?" I grumbled under my breath. I padded up to Blazestar, "Yes, Blazestar?" I said sighing.
{Mossmoth}
/How dare Thornpaw!/ I thought ,/Leaving me with damp moss!/ I took the ball of moss in my teeth and padded out of the elder's den, I padded over to Blazestar and shoved to moss into his face, just so it almost brushed his nose."Get one of the apprentice's to take care of this!" I hissed, tossing the moss on the ground beside me, and I stormed of to the elders den."And have them grab me something from the fresh-kill pile to!" I called.

"Oh it was fantastic!" I purred at the thoughts of the training. "Mr. Grumpy Pelt here," she motioned to Thornpaw. "Didn't do that great." Suddenly, someone shoved moss in her face. It was full of thorns and damp. Someone called, "Get some fresh-kill to! Then give it to the elders." I sighed. "Sorry, Snowpaw. I have to go..."

I combed out the moss and squeezed the water out. Then, I caught sight of the fish I caught. I picked it up in my jaws and tucked the moss under my chin. Then, I padded to the elder's den. "Here Mossmouth. I handed her the moss and fish. I waited for her response.

I sighed as Waspclaw approached looking irritated. "You should do well to listen to your leader without complaint." I snarled softly to him.
"But first," I began raising my voice, "The last hunting patrol was sent out just now. All other patrols will be around the borders." I called out. "We have too many neglections in that area."

{Madpaw}
I bounded down to the edge of the territory my eyes shining. I took in a breath from the wind pushing my fur back and turned to see the others behind me. They had stopped and Featherpelt was watching Shadowpaw curiously.
I bounded back before looking sideways at all of them. "Isn't it obvious what's wrong with him?" I asked. "He stepped on a rock. The way he sets his paw down shows there isn't a thorn but he leaves enough space between it and the ground that it can't be normal." I explained as they looked at me like I was crazy.

I padded over to the fresh-kill pile and grabed a plump vole.I thought about how Waspclaw had snarled at Hollowpaw while hunting./I need to find a way to make him less of a grump! But how?/ I sighed and bit into my prey. I've tried hanging around him to see if my niceness rubbed off on him but that was not working./But i'm the cat he listen's to the most!/ I thought /If I can control my brother, then who can?/

I smiled and padded out of the den. There was nothing else to do, so I decided to battle with Thornpaw. As I walked in the den I saw Lavenderpaw and him chatting. I decided not to interrupt so I lay down in my nest and slept. Dreams floated into my mind as reality disappeared.

"I'm happy for her and all, but if it was a real battle, I'd be dead. I'm trying to think up a way to dodge her move and see it coming." i smiled at her and took a bite out of the soft, juicy fish.

"Well, when she's under you, you could let your self fall over on top of her, then if it was a real battle you could score your claws arcross the other cats, or animals, neck. Or if you want them to live, you could claw their face,ear's, and shoulders." I meowed to Thronpaw./Strange for me to give battle advice when I plan on being a queen, not a warrior, I guess Thornpaw's attitude just rubbed off on me, thats all/

"I feel like that would twist my body in an awkward way, reaching under my belly to claw something. And, falling on her when her claws are unsheathed would only cause the claws to go in deeper and give me a larger wound than I would have had."

I stretch out my hind legs from a long nap. Suddenly, Eaglefeather pounces on me. "Had a good nap, OWLpelt?" Ugh. Owlpelt was my nickname because I always slept in during the day, but I can't seem to sleep at night. "Good to see you, SPARROWfeather. He growled. The only reason he had that nickname was because on his first hunt, he tried to catch a sparrow but got a paw full of feathers instead. I purred in amusement and padded away.

I meowed, remembering Snowpaw telling me about that fighting move once, when we just got apprenticed."But you would have to train fighting like that for a bit, its tricky." I never tried it myself but I remember Snowpaw said it was tricky.

I followed Blazestar to the back of the camp. /where no one can hear us/ I thought /What could be going on that he only wants me to know? Well.../ I thought /I am the strongest warrior, maybe he's going to rightfully make me dupty now/ I sat down in front of Blazestar. "Yes, Blazestar?" I meowed.
