I was thinking, rather than having a set amount of EC awarded for correct answers, it would encourage greater participation and excitement if there was a pool of EC as a prize. There could be a set amount of EC, say 1,000,000 EC, and it would be divided up among the users that answered the question correctly. Not only would this decrease cheating (sharing answers would result in a smaller prize) but would reward users who correctly answered more difficult questions. What do you think?

Good idea đ!
taffy789 • 16 August 2011 at 12:57 PM
Yeah! đ
lily- • 16 August 2011 at 12:57 PM
I agree, that would be better and it would discourage sharing answers!
Meteoroid • 16 August 2011 at 1:00 PM
I actually think that is a much better alternative rather than a set price for every user that we have right now. Much more motivation to not share answers and encourage participation like you stated. And yes, it would handle the "more EC for harder questions" problem on its own rather than thinking of a new reward for that day (if the reward was ever going to change, that is).I'm in full support of a prize pool.

@zacGreat idea! :] However, how would Ian choose the number of EC? Randomly, or would there be some system?
Deleted • 16 August 2011 at 1:05 PM
cool idea đ maybe you should add more like contest maybe in eggcavern.net like a contest where they have to get your favorite color. IDK just throwing ideas out đ
whitefall • 16 August 2011 at 1:07 PM
You'd also get a better chance of getting more EC if you got the answer correct on harder trivia questions.
candy_girl_1298 • 16 August 2011 at 1:08 PM
@zac this is wonderful! 1 million ec is the perfect amount đ

Ahhh, beautiful idea!đ¸ Wonderful, Magnificent! I support!@Icymuffin Yes, those still need to be made. đ
Orderedchaos • 16 August 2011 at 1:23 PM
This seems like a pretty good idea. And yes it would cut down on potential cheating and make the prize more enticing for the harder questions. Although the larger Egg Cave grows the smaller the winnings will get on the easier questions (though I don't think we are going to reach 1 mil. active members any time soon). So eventually it may have to be raised to a higher amount.
lizardfeather • 16 August 2011 at 1:47 PM
Or what if it also raffled out exclusive eggs to those who get it right as well? đ¸ That would be pretty cool. I â¤ī¸ the EC pool suggestion as well 8D
chibiloki88 • 16 August 2011 at 7:33 PM
@zac neat idea, but i still think the reward would be about the same, since so many people will get it right each day đ
leopardclaws • 17 August 2011 at 12:43 PM
@Zac, hmmm this is interesting, I'm not sure it would work to well though, some users might get more than the others. Then on the next question, let's say less people answered correctly, they would get more than the previous winners.
crooton1 • 17 August 2011 at 12:45 PM
@LeopardclawsExactly. đIf it's harder, less people answer, leaving people getting more EC. đSUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT!
leopardclaws • 17 August 2011 at 12:50 PM
@crooton1 No, what I was getting at is that people will get angry that other users got more EC money than them. So I'm not going to give support.
rabbitwanter • 17 August 2011 at 1:04 PM
@zac ~ i love this idea đ¸ i hope ian uses it! ^^
rosey77 • 17 August 2011 at 1:14 PM
Support! đ@avelaingia I don't like that idea though, because what about us who aren't allowed to stay up to midnight, and us who live in a different time zone? âšī¸
joy • 17 August 2011 at 5:29 PM
I totally support this idea, good thinking. đ
Meteoroid • 17 August 2011 at 9:59 PM
@leopardclaws That was the point of the suggestion. I see no real reason why people should get upset at that. If there are less people answering a question, you can assume that that is because the question provides a challenge. Therefore, it seems appropriate to compensate those few people more generously than the 300 people who correctly guess the question the next day.
jaidyn • 20 August 2011 at 5:22 PM
I that you should get a certain number of questions right before you get a prize...say..20 or 30? You have to get a lot for a prize....
unebra • 20 August 2011 at 5:24 PM
@zac good idea đ i like it
iulianna1 • 20 August 2011 at 5:26 PM
@zac Yes, this is an AWESOME idea! We should do this instead of the set prize amount
petpet55 • 20 August 2011 at 5:27 PM
@zacIt's an awesome idea đ Full support from me as well đ
lizardfeather • 20 August 2011 at 6:17 PM
Hehe with 1,000,000 EC prize pool, and with the average amount of people answering correct (like 150) we'd each get 6,666 EC a day (roughly) đ¸
chatial • 28 August 2011 at 2:55 PM
Like a lottery (: love it
redfire77 • 28 August 2011 at 3:19 PM
yes đ great idea. so then for the harder questions that less people get, you get more money if you get it right!
crooton1 • 28 August 2011 at 3:19 PM
