Creature Suggestion- Chitavi

My notebook is tiny, so I apologise for having so many links. This is my baby that I've been working on ever since I joined Egg Cave, so please check it out and let me know if you'd be interested in owning one. I'm thinking maybe a cave monthly for Jan or Feb, but I'm not that fussed.

About Chitavi Eggs

The outer shell of the Chitavi egg comprises primarily of keratin, similar to the tough beak of the creature. The patterns generally reflect those on the fur of the adult Chitavi and can be an indicator of genetic advantages. For this reason, Chitavi parents have been known to abandon eggs with sparse decoration.

More About the Chitavi

Chitavi are not particularly interested in humans, but they are herd animals and very sociable within their species. They are part of the same genus as the Onabi.

The Chitavi is a scavenger and its strong, hooked beak enables it to feed on small mammals and sometimes fish. The patterns on its fur are for attracting potential mates. These patterns spread from the top of the head and down the neck as the Chitavi ages, covering its body when fully mature. They are usually found on the rocky slopes of the Egg Cave mountain, using their strong hooves to maintain balance and to dash their prey against the rocks.

Aw thankyou! When I was a kid I used to play Howrse and i submitted a thing with antlers that didn't get accepted. Ever since then I've wanted to have some snazzy antlers 😃

The name is a mashup of 'Chital' which is a type of deer, and 'avian', meaning bird. Chelta is cool too though 😃

Thankyou all! Yeah, I kind of got the idea from the neopets Eyrie (which my username is based on). It's a gryphon and I just liked the idea of a mammal with a beak.

I never thought about colours much since I only ever work in pencil sketches. I like the idea of a brown animal with the patterns some sort of bright colour.
