I remember browsing through the archives and coming across a few creatures with interesting descriptions talking about how, rarely, they can hatch looking significantly different than normal. Most notably, I remember the archive entry for the icenyro mentioning that sometimes the creature will be born with its affinities swapped (fire-ice instead of ice-fire like normal) This made me wonder how such a concept could possibly be implemented into egg cave. Maybe the artwork could be slightly different, and when you find the egg, it would say "you found an icenyro (alt.) egg!" or something like that. Alternatively, maybe it wouldn't say anything at all, and you would be joyfully taken by surprise when you look at your creature after it hatches. Of course, as I mentioned earlier, these creatures would be very hard to get. What do you think? I'm open to all feedback!

@saturna Well then, I love the idea! It's similar to the concept of an albino, yes?
saturna • 19 May 2017 at 12:08 AM
@flowerlynx kind of! And thanks 😊
flowerlynx • 19 May 2017 at 12:09 AM
@saturna No problem. It should be that you have a 1% chance of getting an albino, or something. And, you can't but an albino potion or something.

@flowerlynx yes I didn't want this to be just like the stars we have now, as plenty of people can just buy them. I thought of this as something interesting to give some low sought out for creatures the chance to become more special
flowerlynx • 19 May 2017 at 12:22 AM
@saturna Yep. Makes enough sense.

@saturna I really like this idea! It would add an element of value to common cave creatures and if it was revealed when they hatch it would mean people have a reason to care for them. Of course there is the fact that if it's only revealed after hatching egg cave would likely be swamped with commons
saturna • 19 May 2017 at 10:15 AM
@wavypavy Yeah I thought that might be an issue if you only found out after they hatch lol
pitch1226 • 19 May 2017 at 12:59 PM
@saturna I love the idea! The fact that they are so rare would make it all the better!

@saturnaI was actually thinking of a similar idea the other day, but I like yours better 😊Really fun, and would make for some interesting trading deals.

@saturna Nice idea! I liked it so much I tried to give the Icenyro a quick recolor so we'd get an idea of what this concept could be like. 😊 https://i.imgur.com/C8fC5gM.pngAs for the issue of common overflows, maybe there could be a system that would allow you to exchange a fully-grown mortal/immortal common for a large handful of EC.

@saturna I thought of another cave species tat talks about alternates; Nipha. Their description talks about how there were four types (I think only one should be alternate though) and even though it says that the other tree went extinct, there could aways be just a few hiding somewhere in the cave...Also, Mo's used to only be revealed after you get the egg and that feature was removed because there were too many creatures that nobody wanted.
saturna • 20 May 2017 at 10:32 AM
@wavypavy Mos were once only revealed after they hatch?
wavypavy • 20 May 2017 at 10:11 PM
@saturna I wan't on egg cave at the time, but apparently when you adopted a creature from the cave there was a chance it was actually a mo. They were revealed as soon as you got the egg, but not at the adoption screen of the cave
saturna • 21 May 2017 at 12:38 AM
@wavypavy oh cool, I never knew that
wavypavy • 21 May 2017 at 1:29 AM
@saturna I'm glad I taught you something 😊The point I was trying to make was that the staff of Egg Cave tried something similar to revealing forms after adoption and they then decided it wasn't a good idea
saturna • 21 May 2017 at 10:15 PM
@wavypavy That is why I personally voted for when they were obtained- it would be less likely that something like that would happen
wavypavy • 22 May 2017 at 3:42 AM
@saturna I voted for when they hatch, but I've changed my mind after thinking about it for a bit
saturna • 22 May 2017 at 11:32 AM
@wavypavy ah okay

@saturna This is a wonderful idea! I like the implication of applying it to commons, and there's lots of other creatures it could apply to as well!

@luvThank you! I'm glad you like it!

@saturnaWow! That's a really cool idea! I'm all for it. I mean, wouldn't anyone want rare creatures free from the cave?Great idea!! 😃
