Due to an issue with Daylight Savings Time, Gobblers were spawning on every page load yesterday. Sadly, this requires us to have to reset the event entirely, as many counts are now inaccurate.
There are no account penalties because this was an issue with the server and Daylight Savings Time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Tomorrow, all Gobblers counts will be reset to 0 and the event will begin from scratch for all users. Gobblers will begin appearing again tomorrow, November 5. They will not be spawning for the rest of today due to the event reset—so give Gobbler collecting a break for today.

@chapus my thoughts, as it was pretty time consuming on this site to get there 😖
spacebunny • 4 Nov 2024, 2:46 PM
It is a fair solution, but I have to agree with many here. Some people don't have all day and their and mine time got wasted now. At least throw in something for everyone? It is very stressful to keep up in the top 100, doesn't do my current health situation any good, maybe I pas

@redflipflap "I Survived the Great Gobbler Purge of 2024" Usually i'm not into game trophies, but this is a fun little one I would admire ^^ : ) ...Maybe someone can at least make up a cute banner for creature profiles & Walls?
kataclysm • 4 Nov 2024, 3:07 PM
In support of a Little Treat for the inconvenience tho
chapus • 4 Nov 2024, 3:11 PM
I'm also hoping the event gets a little extension since we've effectively ''lost'' 5 days of the event.
Ian • 4 Nov 2024, 3:14 PM
@chapus the "lost" 5 days is basically evened out by everybody being reset. total counts will just be lower than last year overall for everybody but the playing field is even.
sartre • 4 Nov 2024, 3:32 PM
Darn daylight savings time you messed up my sleep 😶🌫️ now you messed up my gobbler hunt 🦃 will you just go away😒
dragrawr • 4 Nov 2024, 3:39 PM
@sartre felt that
Ian • 4 Nov 2024, 3:50 PM
@sartre yeah I know ☹️
hikanu • 4 Nov 2024, 3:59 PM
I have a nice life hack for daylight savings time. Screw up your biological clock beforehand, you won't feel that hour if you don't know what time it is and should be lol.
bgamer • 4 Nov 2024, 4:07 PM
This is unfortunate but it is better to have a fair competition. It was kind of fun searching for a gobbler you knew was going to show up though.
insomcosmos • 4 Nov 2024, 4:16 PM
Atleast I can catch up now.
jeanne • 4 Nov 2024, 4:27 PM
@Silvia I totally agree with you, this game is really hard for the entire body I feel sad for the kids who are ruining their health, why must it last a whole month? I am near 65 years old and already at day 2 my back, neck and eyes were really hurting ☹️
vos • 4 Nov 2024, 4:29 PM
I've spent so much time collecting already just to have them wiped. I'm not chilled. :/
heatherm19 • 4 Nov 2024, 4:34 PM
Knee-jerk reaction of 'that's not fair! so many Gobblers collected for nothing!', warring with the reality that I'd barely cracked 200 thanks to life stuff. This is interesting. I could've sworn there were issues with DST last year too but maybe this time it was more extensive.
heatherm19 • 4 Nov 2024, 4:38 PM
This does seem like the fairest way it could be handled, given the circumstances. I do think maybe code should be tweaked or something so the site doesn't glitch every DST though, I mean there has to be some way to avoid having issues every year right?
sorrow • 4 Nov 2024, 4:41 PM
I just wish i could click on the gobbler and not have to back out to the page i was on. if it was just a pop-up it would be much easier, but i understand if that causes even more issues lmao. i dont mind the pause and restart though! i have the next 2 days off to hunt em😈
spacebunny • 4 Nov 2024, 4:43 PM
@jeanne so sorry to hear please don`t burden yourself please ❤️ I might be the half of your years, almost, but yeah its a hard grind and especially if you face health issues. I too tried to collect while working and being not really healthy, so its really unmotivating
endrolled • 4 Nov 2024, 4:50 PM
to be honest i'm not terribly fond of this event format anyway, since i can't possibly spend enough time on this site to find the number of gobblers required to hit the top 100. everyone else have fun tho, i'm not here to rain on your parade!
galactic_pigeon • 4 Nov 2024, 4:57 PM
Hm... Joining up with the others, it is kinda tricky balancing out IRL stuff (for me, University) and getting enough Gobblers per day. I also think that it'd be nice to see a new event next year that's a little less taxing perhaps?
jeanne • 4 Nov 2024, 4:58 PM
I don't know about this game being fair, it's all about how much time RL or health allows you to spent searching since the game was changed a few years back (you could find 2-3-4 right after another now there is a cool down wait after each).
myriadium • 4 Nov 2024, 5:12 PM
@endrolled that's actually so real, i've always enjoyed the events where everyone can get the opportunity to get something nice, especially since events are already so rare. (2016 asteroid plot my beloved...)
silvia • 4 Nov 2024, 5:15 PM
@jeanne I remember old turkey hunt, I liked it better back then because there was also luck / chance involved. ^^ Now it just feels... dunno, automatic, devoid of that spark it had. You basically need to sit & refresh every x minutes. 🥲
silvia • 4 Nov 2024, 5:16 PM
Not really a hunt If you know that in x minutes there will be a gobbler for sure on the page and you just need to refresh & find it. Before it was like, there could be one or not. This works for the easter egg hunt because it lasts just a few days. --
okami • 4 Nov 2024, 5:16 PM
I'd enjoy it a lot more too if everyone who participated got something. Maybe don't have the LE creature limited to the top 100, but instead give one to everyone who reaches a certain number of gobblers (like 500?). Then the top 100 could get the 1000cc prize?
silvia • 4 Nov 2024, 5:18 PM
But a whole month of this is... well. Heavy. Of course this is just my preference and personal opinion on the matter, probably people have fun, I just can't really enjoy / feel this event anymore sadly. 😔
mr-blue-bones • 4 Nov 2024, 6:03 PM
Gobbler hunt is already so freaking hard X(
frankenstein • 4 Nov 2024, 6:08 PM
Disheartening. I was only able to get as many as I did because it started on the weekend. Now I'm in a work week and won't have the time to catch back up :/ Frickity frack.
mythisea • 4 Nov 2024, 7:16 PM
Reading this board, I'm wondering - does anyone actually like the gobbler hunt format T___T I know I don't, it's hard mentally and physicallly like so many have said.
hikanu • 4 Nov 2024, 7:25 PM
@mythisea Personally I prefer this format over the october seed hunt. I don't mind the minigames which was where I managed to get practically all of the seeds I collected. I just didn't have the energy to feed much. Clicking and refreshing a page now and then works great for me.
hikanu • 4 Nov 2024, 7:26 PM
But then again, yes. I aim to be in top 100, but I don't aim to be the best. A comfortable middle spot between #50 and #80 depending on my energy and time is fine for me.
sorrow • 4 Nov 2024, 7:38 PM
@mythisea i like it! its huge monetary loss for eggcave to give out this much cc, of course its going to be a harder event. i work 2 jobs and im in college, so i only hunt gobblers on days off and in between assignments 8pm-12pm. i just aim to place, rank means nothing tbh.
dragrawr • 4 Nov 2024, 7:48 PM
@myriadium the pain and suffering I feel looking back on the asteroid event (my beloved !) Eggcave battle sequences when (I kid… unless………)
Ian • 4 Nov 2024, 8:28 PM
DST issue with Gobblers has been fixed for all future years
dragrawr • 4 Nov 2024, 8:31 PM
@Ian yippeee !! Thank you for all the hard work !!
jlya • 4 Nov 2024, 8:58 PM
This is such a bummer, I did so much Gobbler hunting the first day to get a lead and I was barely on the site yesterday. To be reset to a complete zero is very discouraging. I understand it's an unfortunate situation for everyone. But dang. So much time wasted.
jlya • 4 Nov 2024, 8:59 PM
I must say though that I do love the Gobbler hunt. Probably my favorite event of the year. Maybe it's just the holiday vibes that come with it 😊
chaotictreat • 4 Nov 2024, 9:20 PM
Unfortunate that this had to happen, luckily I hadn't dedicated too much time to gobbler hunting already so I'm not mad about it lol. Sucks for the people that planned to do all their collecting in the first few days though 😋
chaotictreat • 4 Nov 2024, 9:22 PM
I agree that some sort of reset had to happen. It's unfortunate that it couldn't be more precise - @ian you mentioned gobblers are a simple +1 tally with no timestamp, perhaps adding timestamps could help with issues similar to this in the future? (1/2)
(2/2) Although I understand that would require more storage and server power etc. so may not be feasible. And I'm glad changes have been made to theoretically rectify any daylight savings issues in the future 😊
chaotictreat • 4 Nov 2024, 9:25 PM
And (sorry for lowkey spam lol) I see how this event can be taxing for others, but think it's important to have events with different mechanics & would strongly oppose gobblers being changed to feeding. Would be nice to have more of other sorts of events though (plots PLEASE) 😋
myriadium • 4 Nov 2024, 11:09 PM
@dragrawr TRUE! LET ME USE MY CREATURES TO BRAWL IT OUT!
poptarts • 4 Nov 2024, 11:29 PM
@mythisea I don't mind the current setup, but I feel like it would be a lot more engaging and fun if gobblers were acquired a different way. (i think it would be fun if gobblers were found corn-maze style, just a different map setup) _ Also, yes! More plots would be amazing!
provo7demons • 5 Nov 2024, 12:46 AM
I like the way the gobblers are laid out for the event; my only complaint would be the fact that 30 days of constant gobbler hunting is a little exhausting XD Maybe it would be nicer to have it only last a few weeks like the chocolates, but that might end up making (1/2)
provo7demons • 5 Nov 2024, 12:47 AM
things worse, since it'd feel more frantic with a limited time...oh well. Good luck everyone starting the hunt anew!
sparklefox • 5 Nov 2024, 9:22 AM
(Just rambling about what I've read in the comments, don't mind me.) I feel like making it only a certain amount of weeks rather than the whole month would make the event more stressful for those with busier lives, so having it be the full month gives them more time to hunt. --
sparklefox • 5 Nov 2024, 9:25 AM
-- I like the idea of prizes for reaching certain thresholds. Like maybe smaller EC/item prizes that build up into a final creature prize, and the big CC one is reserved for those on the leaderboards. Could maybe make the event more fun for more than just 100 active users, IMO.
sparklefox • 5 Nov 2024, 9:28 AM
-- I'm fine with the current format. Not a fan of the Corn Maze personally, and having two big month-long feeding events in a row sounds like it would get stale rather quickly. Honestly, I prefer the current timer format to the previous one. It was very easy to be hit with --
sparklefox • 5 Nov 2024, 9:29 AM
-- a bad luck streak and go for 5+ minutes without seeing a single Gobbler. Okay, I'm done rambling now...
jlya • 5 Nov 2024, 12:49 PM
I fully second the above comments ^ Please don't change the format, I like the Gobbler hunt being different from other events ❤️
