The Default Cove Size Is Now 500

September 9, 2022 at 3:45 PM

All Players Have At Least 500 Cove Spaces

With Egg Cave pressing nearly 1,000 creatures (almost!), it's time for an update to Coves. All players who currently have less than 500 Cove spaces have been upgraded to 500 Cove spaces—minimum! This is the new, default Cove space amount for all registered players.

The way that Cove space costs are calculated have also changed. Your new upgrade cost for buying a Cove space is now based on the new default of 500 spaces. This is, in essence, a price adjustment for the cost of upgrade. Enjoy the discount if you're already beyond 500 spaces. New spaces are now cheaper for you than what you were paying previously.

Wow!That's a great update!Thank you!

OMG, thank you for doing this. ❤️ It has been suggested multiple times by multiple players. ❤️

@heatherm19 that is me xD it actually took me a long time because I'm not here too much (I've been with the site since 2013). It just stings a little, having my spaces consumed instead of added to. But I'll get over it eventually I am sure ♡

Great news ! 😊 BTW, when will CC events start?

shirothekittehlover • 10 Sep 2022, 8:58 AM

YES! FINALLY!! ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ

aedia • 10 Sep 2022, 9:28 AM

Thank you!!!

I agree with @chaotic. I've used so much on cove spaces and I feel like I got nothing from this. If not free 200 cove spaces then I like to get my EC back that now is "lost". I understand that for new players and for those that weren't over the amount this is great.

mishababy • 10 Sep 2022, 4:35 PM

Great, so all of the hundreds of thousands of EC spent upgrading cove spaces was literally just WASTED. I'm glad we got this much-needed update, but this just feels wrong.

frankenstein • 10 Sep 2022, 6:19 PM

The more time I think about this, the more I agree with the sentiments expressed here. I've spent over 390mil on my largest account alone. My discount only set my price back 40kec, which is a drop of water in an ocean comparatively. I just keep finding myself shuffling-

frankenstein • 10 Sep 2022, 6:21 PM

-my creatures around to fit. I've resigned myself to letting go of the idea of making themes for my coves because they'll all eventually be overrun just to find space.

ida92 • 11 Sep 2022, 3:29 AM

Now when I came to think about everything, I am still very happy that this got implemented, but I think it's not very fair that people who spend a lot o EC on expanding their coves did not get that EC back in any way (either as a currency or cove spaces).

ida92 • 11 Sep 2022, 3:32 AM

The "total EC spent on upgrades" on my side has been reset to 0 as if I had never spent any EC, which isn't true. I think I had spent over 2 million in total? I think I had 486 spaces unlocked.

caylith • 11 Sep 2022, 8:16 AM

@Ian Is the list of a Vend tagged pets closed? No more new pets will be added to the machine? Or the list will be expanded, when the new pets are added there?

jlya • 11 Sep 2022, 3:41 PM

Thank you Eggcave!! So glad to have more cove spaces.

snowywinter • 11 Sep 2022, 7:39 PM

What would be more exciting than a category in the Archives than for the VEND, is for Thief Shop creatures. (Though ANY additional way to sort is appreciated!) (I mean, since you know we can at least see current VEND creatures by going there.)

snowywinter • 11 Sep 2022, 7:42 PM

@caylith I'm not Ian or even staff, but I'm assuming like all the other categories that the list will be expanded as creatures are added. (partial exception being the Available list which is in constant flux)

Meteoroid • 11 Sep 2022, 10:23 PM

@caylith We’ll still have more. When a new creature is added to the VEND Machine, it’ll auto-update its “Obtained From” information to include it. I’d also like for a retired creature to show as available when they’re still in a current prize pool, but that’s for another time.

Meteoroid • 11 Sep 2022, 10:27 PM

@snowywinter Thief Shop… of course. I’ll ask about having that added as a category.

snowywinter • 11 Sep 2022, 10:30 PM

@Meteoroid Thank you! I was starting to think it was meant to remain a mystery.

cheetah • 12 Sep 2022, 2:55 AM

I had over a hundred extra spaces purchased on here before the update, but now I only have the (new) default 500 and it reset my total spent to 0 EC. Shouldn't it be the # of spaces I had before the update + 200? (since the old default was 300 I think?) Doesn't seem right.

chapus • 12 Sep 2022, 10:42 AM

I am happy a change was made to cove sizes, but I agree with a lot of folk that this kinda feels like a slap for people who spent millions on cove upgrades... I think the default should have been changed to 500 AND 200 extra cove spaces to existing coves should have been added.

chapus • 12 Sep 2022, 10:44 AM

That way, the people at the default space with no expansions would now have 500, and all those who already had close to or above 500 spaces would get a lot of spaces... granted they are cheaper now but still cost EC lol

heatherm19 • 12 Sep 2022, 12:02 PM

I think, at the very least, we should've been able to keep our *extra* cove spaces that we *bought*. I understand a simple default increase was probably the easiest to implement, but it does feel kinda crappy to basically have our *bought* spaces just taken away. We should have-

heatherm19 • 12 Sep 2022, 12:03 PM

- the default 500 *plus* whatever extra spaces we've bought, instead of all those bought spaces just being absorbed and all that ec was spent for absolutely nothing.

Ian • 12 Sep 2022, 1:17 PM

@caylith no, it will continue being tagged and updated, it's not set in stone. it's just a new tag to find creatures that at some point in time (present/past) the creature was obtainable from the VEND machine.
