((I've received more votes for a fast-forward than to stay, so to the tournament we go!

As for secret santa, the competitors don't know their partners for the tournament until the names are read, so how about they each prepare a gift for whoever they're to be paired with? Is that a good compromise? c:

I'll be compiling a list of who is in what tournament and then randomly picking partners.))

Garett looked around the arena. It wasn't that crowded yet, but he knew it was probably going to get busy soon.

"I knew I shouldn't have left early," he muttered.

Melody waited for the tournament to start, excited.
All her Pokemon were healed and healthy, and fighting fit... but a pratice battle wouldn't hurt.
She watched as a guy walked came into the arena, only half paying attention to what she was looking at, lost in thought.

"Good morning, trainers!" a cheery voice boomed over the loudspeakers. A ripple of excitement ran through the crowd surrounding the arenas. "Welcome to the fourteenth annual Mistletoe Tournament! The first event of the day belongs to the battling trainers and their wonderful Pokemon!" The crowd gave an enthusiastic cheer. "The first event will be double battles- two trainers against two trainers! Double eliminations! Two Pokemon per trainer!"

Behind the stages, Margot froze, glancing down at her Pokemon. She hadn't anticipated having to work with anyone else . . .

"The double trainer team who manages to defeat the others will go on to battle in single rounds. As for the losers- there's always next year! Now, your first round battle match-ups are . . . " A list of names was read. " . . . and lastly, the team of Margot Abeln and Garrett Reidar vs. the team of Sakura Haruno and Melody Summers!"

Margot's shoulders drooped; of course she would end up fighting the Melody girl during the first round.

"Round one begins in fifteen minutes, so find your partners, trainers!"

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention the coordinators. There weren't enough people for even double match-ups, but would you like to begin your appeal round now?

Garett heard the announcer. "Margot Abeln, huh? Doesn't sound like a bad trainer." He wondered how long until the round was.

"Garrett Reidar," Margot echoed, frowning slightly. She didn't remember meeting anyone by that name. After a moment of thinking she withdrew a Pokeball from her belt, summoning her Porygon-Z. "ZZZzzt," it declared as it emerged, looking animatedly around at all the other trainers. "Hey, Dij," she said, trying to get her Pokemon's attention. The Porygon-Z turned around to face her, bobbing up and down in mid-air. "You mind running a search? Garrett Reidar," she instructed. Data began to swim quickly across the Pokemon's eyes. "Checking contest database," it said in an electronic voice. After a few moments, the Pokemon nodded its head. "Match found: Garrett Reidar. Location!" With that, the Porygon-Z sped off into the crowd. "DIGIT!" she yelled, frustrated. As brilliant as the little Pokemon was, common sense was not easily taught. A short sprint later, she found herself face to face with a younger-looking boy. Her Pokemon was levitating gleefully over his head. "You're Garrett?" she asked, motioning with two fingers for her Pokemon to come back to her. The Porygon-Z floated over and then began a rather distracting orbit around its trainer's head.

Garett looked at the Porygon-Z approvingly. "Yeah, I'm Garett. So... You're Margot, then?" He asked.

Melody wondered who her partner was going to be. Hopefully, someone GREAT, if they were going up against that ROCKET....
Melody sneered and wondered which of her Pokemon she should use....
Houndor looked determined to fight, and Melody frowned. "I'm so sorry Flash, but I can't use you. You aren't that great at double battles...."
Flash whimpered, but understood.
" I think i'll use Sol and Dusk. (Her Absol is not Moon anymore, I renamed him Dusk. XD)
Melody recalled Houndor, and sent out her Sneasal and Absol.
"Sol! Dusk! Are you ready to win?!?" Melody cheered.
Sol and Dusk both cried out, agreeing.
"Lets just hope my partner is good." Melody sighed.

'thanks meema.'she watched as meema turned into her.'hmm she looks good,let hope shes good at battling.'

'hehe!'meema snickered at turned back into herself.

and by the looks of it she just got offline

"Ok..calm down." Bella thought to herself she was shaking with fear she had never been in a trainers battle compitition before and she could tell her lack lack of confidence was coming off strong

Next thing Bella needed to figure out was who was her partner?

Bella walking into the trainers room where she could see four trainers getting ready for their battle on the tv, she recalled two of the names before, Sakura and Garett... Both trainers looked very tough and it was going to be an exciting match...she could tell...

Here! @belle , isn't your character signed up for the coordinator contests? They have their own system which starts with individual appeals and then goes to single battles. I guess I'll pick your secret santa people randomly.
