Raven laughed.
Then Evie looked at her watch. 10PM. Stood up. It was time.

Col left the orphanage again. This time, he actually had a particular errand to do. Which was quickly wiped from his mind when he saw a particular person leaning against the gate. It's not like he hadn't considered the chances of being challenged like this... But still...
By now you should be able to guess who.
Col tried to remember the last time he'd been in a life threatening situation. When he was about three, and nearly fell off a bridge over a busy train track?

Annabell laughed also and watched quizzically as Evie stood up so suddenly. Maybe she had to make a sudden rush to the bathroom?

"Don't expect me to say some corny movie line," Evie glowered. "Let's move out."

Blaine's icy blue eyes, out in the open for once, locked onto Col. Col didn't blink. Blaine didn't either.
They could feel the power emmating off each other. Blaine could tell Col was Four for a reason.
Col could tell Blaine was... Stronger than himself. Perhaps as strong as Two. He didn't know.
Col tried a faint smile. "Why don't we talk about this?" He suggested.
Blaine sighed, ran a hand through his hair.
Col took that as a no. "Will you at least drop this charade already? It won't make me go any easier on you."
The person wearing Blaine's shape blinked. He had completely forgotten he appeared like this. It was all the same to him. He reverted to his usual form.

Gtg soon.

@trish When Blaine faced Des, another person was there, right?
That person replaced Blaine with themselves while Blaine was unconscious.

When Annabell heard Evie say, "Let's move out.", she really heard, "Autobots! Roll out." which WAS, in fact, a corny movie line.
She remained silent though, and picked herself up quietly from her bed, a bit relucant to even leave the dirty, springy bed behind.
...
Okay, maybe not THAT relucant.
But still, she wasn't looking forward to picking her way through a creepy basement at ten at night.
Worse case scenerio?
Still zombie apocaylpse.
SECOND worse case scenerio?
A Scooby-Doo creeper randomly popping out of nowhere, and leading them into a chase scene, complete with the weird 80's music in the backround.
Yeah.

@taffy789 X3 I'm just going to jump to it...
@Trish
@replica
@REDFIRE77 ._.

Three flights of stairs and some complicated high-tech-lock-picking later...
The basement was square about the size of Evie's office back at IOD.
It was also filled with innumerous cabinets. FILING cabinets. With documents inside of them. Innumerable x infinity documents.
Evie had already known this. "Right, let's get started. We're looking for... Well, let me know when you find something interesting," she smiled evilly, sat down on the floor, got out her laptop and started playing pacman on it.
Raven's glare would have probably turned Evie to stone had she looked up.

"Hey, if you want to make the search a lot easier, you could always tell me what EXACTLY we have to search for." Zach, who'd joined up with the group somewhere along the second flight of stairs, lazily pointed out.
Annabell rolled her eyes, snorting. "You're POWER can't figure it on itself?" She was still annoyed with this boy who always seemed rather full of himself.
Zach paid no attention to Annabell, but instead loudly sipped his French coke.

"Didn't Four give you something to do? Get out," Evie didn't look at him.

*After a long, boring but intense fight scene...* X3
Col took a step back. He just noticed that a girl looking out a window of the orphanage had completely passed over them. While fighting, the enemy had cast and retained a huge-scale illusion. Darn it. And Col still hadn't thought of an escape plan. Everything seemed to end in the word, "captured", and none had, "evaded", in front. And clearly winning wasn't an option.

"Four never told me a thing. I haven't seen him all night. Not that i've been hanging around the dorm that much. Much more interesting hanging around the dark hallways." Zach states blankly.

Evie paused. She'd never really thought about how LAX Four was before. "Then go hang out in your dark corridor," she killed one of the alien things.
Raven snickered, pretending to look through the files but really just mucking around.

CRASH! The sound of solid wood being smashed through came from upstairs.
Evie very slowly raised an eyebrow and looked up.
There was a pause. Then-
BAM!
...
She clicked her laptop shut.

"Found something interesting." Zach pointed up.
He then flipped around, pulled open a drawer at random, and grabbed a random folder, peering inside it.
Actually, the whole sequence of events was, in truth, not entirely random, for Zach's power HAD told him there was something interresting in the folder he was holding.
Carefully, he pulled the top apart and peered inside the moldy paper folder.
He paused.
"Well, that's certainly INTRESTING." Zach stated loudly, not stoping his eyes from widening a bit.

"What?!" Evie snapped, halfway to the door already. She had no idea what was happening upstairs, and she needed to get up there NOW. This guy better not be wasting her time if he wanted to see the light of day again.

Zach pointed up again.
"HEARD something interesting." he corrected. He then glanced back at the folder he'd picked up, and, frowning, turning it upside-down, spilling it's contents onto the floor.
A few moldy papers, and, one EXTREMELY dead rat.
Zach frowned with a bit more disgust in his grimance this time, and prodded the rat with his foot before stepping over it, moving closer to the door.
He might've been planning on following Evie.

Evie considered making a doormat out of him but decided it wouldn't be worth the effort.
She walked up the steps and opened the door slightly to look through.
BAM!
She slammed it shut and leaned against the wall for support.
Evie wasn't one to waste time.
She opened a telepathic link and mentally yelled an order through it.
Nine seconds later, the crashing sounds from outside halted.
Cautiously, Nine opened the door to discover the place looking perfectly normal, apart from the frightened, bemused and just-got-out-of-bed-looking orphans and staff, and a four kids who clearly didn't belong. Evie glanced at the latter group and they tiptoed into the kitchen then disappeared. Yawning, the residents dismissed the oddity and went back to bed.
What just happened? Nine looked around the room. Clearly it had been some kind of illusion, or noise power.
By chance she glanced out the window, then froze.
The grass was scorched.
Don't panic.

Confused? I am too XD

@Trish I dunno, I thought I explained pretty well ._.

SUMMARY:
Col was fighting mysterious unknown ranked Glaeroe with illusion powers.
An illusion was cast on the orphanage to bring it to Evie's attention.
Col and the Glaeroe are gone, but scortch marks show that Col was there and fighting.

Evie made a spilt-second decision. "Right kiddies," she clapped her hands, returning into the basement. "It's past your bed time. We got an early start tomorrow, so I suggest you catch some Zzz's while you still can. Chop chop!"
Raven gave her a weird look but just went upstairs and to bed.

Evie pulled out her laptop again. They'd have to get out of here soon. This place was just too dangerous.
Why on earth had the enemy sent someone so powerful they could hold their own against FOUR- out here?!
There was something the higher-ups weren't telling her. She wondered if Col himself had known...
OR... A skeptical part of her kept saying, what if this was another one of his tricks? What if he'd got a friend over here, and staged this to give her the slip?
Someone who could cast an illusion on such a scale was no one Evie knew in the Falchions.
Col....

Zach reluctantly headed back to his dorm.
On his way back, he couldn't help but think about how Evie had looked at him back at the basement. A death glare at it's finest.
Which made Zach wonder even further...
Could he take her? He wasn't that interested in being a Number all that much, but he did hate it when people reguarded him without knowing what he was fully capable of.
Which was?
Heck, even he wasn't sure that much.
His power wasn't offensive like other's... But it was self reliant. Like Zach. And it only benefited (or harmed) him.
Basically, it was up to him to harm others, and his power just helped him accomplish that faster while staying out of trouble.
Still, strong enough to take ona Number?
Zach took another thoughtful sip of his coke, then crushed the can and tossed it to the floor.
Maybe. If he was lucky enough.

~ Numbered Meeting 2, Part 1 ~
"Col's gone," Evie mumbled wearily, rubbing sleep out of her eyes.
There was a stunned silence.
"Perhaps you might elaborate?" A silky voice suggested.
"Seven," Evie turned to that screen. "I didn't know you had returned."
He shot her a dazzling smile.
"Seven, stop flirting with her, it's making me sick," Two groaned.
He shrugged and winked.
Evie managed not to facepalm. The guy always does this; incorrigible, Evie thought. But, it was kind of refreshing, having someone around who wasn't always DOOM and GLOOM. And washes his own clothes.
She tried not to remember the guy was about 4/3 chances dead come April. Along with her.
"He's just gone," everyone started talking at once. She raised her voice. "Plus scorch marks."
Spike raised an eyebrow. "Did he run away, or not?" He demanded clearly.
She hesitated. "I... Don't know."
"Next time you are given a mission, Nine, you would do well to remember the point of it," he then made a show of glancing at the calendar he'd taken off the wall. "Oh wait, I guess there won't be a next time..." He said casually.
Her fists clenched.
"Hey, hey. That was unnecessary," Seven complained.
"But fun," Two replied indifferently. "Nine, your new mission is to find Four. We almost have enough data to destroy that place. Leave Shadow in charge while you are gone."
Evie nodded. That wasn't so bad. "What about the Glaeroes?"
There was some muttering.

A screen flickered to life right then. It showed it's picture, which had to make everyone wonder if it was broken, for the entire screen was an, almost PAINFULLY bright green.
"Hey! I remembered how to use this laptop!" an excited femine voice cheerfully interrupted the meeting.
Six let out an annoyed sigh. "If i'm not mistaken, Eight, you're hair is blocking the screen-?"
If Eight had caught any annoyance in his tone, she didn't let on.
"Really?" the girl gasped. "I'll fix it!"
Clicking buttons followed by off screen pounding on a key board were heard , and then came the cursing. Finally, a large thump, and the screen went blank again.
Thomas blinked. "Why do we even let her own a laptop again?" As he rubbed his temple with his thumb and forefinger, he continued, quickly waving off Eight's interruption, "So, any plans on Glaereos?"

Damon rumpled his hair, quiet, but he joined in on the muttering.
"Charming girl." he whispered under his breath at Eight's attempt.
"So, I have a foot rub appointment soon, so let's keep going. Col's gone. Glaeroes style? Dunno. Nine's mission. Bump in the road." he said.

Spike rolled his eyes. "I'll handle them myself."
Seven chose to make an annoying whistle at this point, and Two narrowed his eyes. "God knows, if I don't get out every once and a while, I'll go soft..."
It was subte, but enough the make Seven shut up. For Evie, it made her blood boil. She hated how confident he was about his own safety. Two got to sit around smugly in his stupid office chair all day. He wouldn't have to fight for his life during the Truce month. [yeep].
"Oh, and Five?" Two smirked. "Teaching Eight how to use a computer is now your PERSONAL responsiblity. And I expect results. Soon."
There was also a meaningful glare that strangely resembled the, "Oh, and touch her, and you're dead", look commonly used by boyfriends.
Evie added that to her evidence box.

"Oh. I'll see to that soon. If there's nothing else, I have a foot rub appointment followed by a nap." Damon said, bored.
"Hopefully some of my calm and collected personality will rub off on Eight." he smiled a little too innocently.

@trish No X3 but their arra's are closely linked, so they work together a lot, and.... Yeah 😋

Two snorted. "Yeah, right. Well-"
"There's something else," Evie interrupted loudly. Spike stopped and slowly looked at her screen. "Yes, Nine?" He almost hissed, wasting no time in communicating his displeasure.
Unphased, she continued. "Under clause 5 regarding ranking, we are able to challenge another Numbered at any time, for their ranking, correct?"
Whatever they'd been expecting, it wasn't that. A dark cloud settled overhead. "That's right. But they don't have to accept the challenge."
"Except for during the last week of march," Nine stated confidently.
"... Your point?" Spike asked, reclining his chair back.
"I challenge you- Seven- to a fight to the death," she declared.
Seven looked shocked. "Who, me? Errr..." He fidgeted uneasily.

In that great moment of tension, Eight's screen flickered back to life.
"Okay, got it fixed! Sooooo, what did I miss?" she cheerfully sing-songed.
This time, the camera was placed correctly, and you could easily make out a young girl with short, green shamrock dyed hair, and wearing a, "Kiss me, I'm Irish" tee. She was reclining in a computer chair with a fresh bowl of popcorn laying in her lap.
"Ohhhh! I think I just missed something IMPORTANT, am I right? What is it? Glaeroes attacking the base? I wouldn't know, because I'm not there currently." Eight said the last part matter-of-factly.
Six facepalmed. He enjoyed these meetings a lot more when Eight wasn't constantly interrupting. They went by a lot faster too.
On a more serious note, if Evie was challenging Seven...

(Comic relief. X3 )
