(I'll take control of some the battle, I guess? XD He's using his power now.... XP Rawr. Sue me.)

Wow...That was a lot of animals.
Thomas was known for his fast and varied transformations; never staying the same animal for more than a few seconds at most before changing, and this was a tactic he used to defeat many enemies.
Eight knew this, yet she still was mesmerized by the blurring colors and shapes, and enjoyed trying to pick out the different animals she could recognize.
She kicked the empty seat in front of her, frowning.
The Leader's box was empty, and there was no one to share this show with.
The girl munched on her popcorn, wondering if the others were either late, preoccupied, didn't care to show up, or a mixture of the three.
Shaking her head back and forth, whipping her dark blue hair sadly, she quickly forgave them all for skipping out and turned her focus back onto the show.
Thomas...Was he going to win?
Eight pondered this for a few moments, wondering if the negative outcome to that question would make her sad.
....
...
....
...
Well, he DID hate HER, after all.... And there was always something sour about him anyway.
Eight pulled a quick face, then went back to munching her popcorn and waiting for the others to arrive.

Quietly, Damon entered the leader's box, expression pensive. He'd just done a quick round of the audience to inquire whether any ladies were in need of assistance; he had teleporters ready at the click of his fingers, armed with blindfolds, earplugs, sickbags, anything that might be needed to rescue them from the horrors sure to unfold. Unfortunately, the pretty damsel-in-distress types that he was so fond of didn't tend to last in IOD.
Fond of them meaning he found them amusing.
As he took his seat, the raging battle suddenly came to a standstill, both sides more out-of-breath than they were willing to admit to each other and on broadcast. Damon knew switching through so many forms took a huge toll on his energy. But Two's little girl, Gene, Damon recalled, was even worse off, unable to stand straight, a horrid gash on her left leg, hair a complete mess. Then again, it was an incedible feat that she had managed to keep Five at bay with merely a single large knife (having lost the smaller one for attacking during Thomas's onslaught).
Damon watched with mild interest as her wounds healed and disappeared, even a chunk of hair which had been sliced off regrew. His gaze then wandered over to Thomas, whose few scratches.... Ones that should have stopped bleeding ages ago had much worsened... Ah, so that was what was going on...
There was a reason this girl was Two's chosen assistant. It wasn't that she was smart or efficient, it wasn't that she was skilled or powerful even. It was because she was from the same place as him. Dalta.

Eight shoveled down more popcorn as she watched, open mouthed and on the edge of her seat, as Thomas got cut with yet another knife.
Pausing, she took a moment to swallow her mouthful of the crushed kernels before flipping around to Damon.
"Hey, handsome~" Eight giggled, seemingly shamelessly flirting.
The truth was obvious to anyone who had to be in close quarters with her for an extended period of time, she tended to be a parrot when it came to flirting, simply repeating a word of admiration almost mindlessly. (Or seemingly mindlessly? Who really knew, or deeply cared, for that matter?)
"Anyway~, do ya' know where Two is? I want to borrow his IPad to get pictures of this." she pointed towards the direction of Thomas' fight-to-the-death in the arena.

Meanwhile, it seemed as if the Leader was losing quite a lot of blood. Yet, somehow, the boy kepy fighting, landing blows here and there, only to have Gene to just smile and keep healing.
Eight turned her head back to the fight after Gene had landed a particulary bad blow onto Thomas' side, gorging a rather large gash.
"...You know?" Eight asked Damon outloud, "It's funny how the Glaeroes haven't really killed a leader in a long time or anything, and now it seems we've just going to get rid of everyone this way. I'm not compalining though, this method involves popcorn~"
Eight cuddled her bowl of popcorn in her lap.

"No, I don't," Damon replied swiftly, slight annoyance evident in his tone. Why was it always Two? Sure, he was the strongest, apart from One, who couldn't exactly go around handing out iPads, but still; give him a break. Secretly, Damon had been keeping close tabs on the guy, almost ever since they first met. Anyone with any sense would do the same; Two was simply too suspicious and too dangerous not to. And- oh my god, he wanted an icepack, asap... But, not in front of Eight. He needed to be careful of her too; after all, it wouldn't surprise him if she was in league with Two. Damon suspected that her silliness hid a cold, calculating mind- rather like Two was openly, actually. He doubted they'd work together though; one of the two was probably using the other. Oh, he wanted the icepack bad...
Damon snapped back to earth as Eight resumed talking. "Well, that's probably because we've been making serious ground these past few years; I doubt many of theirs are lasting long enough to get very strong," he said contemptuously.
Col, who had just appeared, leaning against the wall, snorted. "Wrong. Firstly, we've been at a stalemate with the Glaeroes for over sixteen years. Secondly, that's not to say they aren't gaining new leaders. Didn't they recently get a new Tria?
Eight, could I please have a look at the statistics for numbers of new recruits coming in to IOD, for both them and us?"
Damon frowned. "What do you mean, a stalemate? We've nearly taken A-L and A-A... Wait, sixteen years..? That'd be..." he broke off, thinking.
Col remained silent. No need to state the obvious.

Eight perked up upon Col's request, turning her head towards him and resting her chin on the back of her chair.
"Huh? Statistics? Gottcha." The Leader then snapped her fingers, and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
"Huh, isn't when any of you guys snap your fingers, your assaistants and lackeys appear out of thin air beside you with whatever you need?" Eight blinked, glancing around the Leader's box as if searching for her hiding lackey.
"...I guess it would make sense, seeing as I'm one of the only people that can allow my lackeys access to the filing cabinets, but I digress."
The Leader phased out once again, turning her back to the others, staring at the fight scene in front of her with a blank look registering on her face.
A few seconds of silence passed between them all, which had the pleasure of having the rage of the battle(Mostly on Thomas' behalf) below serve as a backround noise.
"Here we go!" Eight suddenly jumped over her chair as fast as a rabbit, and scurried over to where Col was standing, sticking out her left arm, which was now covered in bar graphs and pie charts with random numbers that were all written in purple ink.
Eight motioned to to her palm of her hand, where she'd taken the liberty of circling the averages that Col had been searching for.
"This everything you need, Col-tro?" She giggled at the play on words.

(Cuatro. XD I had a breakfast taco today. X3)

Col squinted slightly at the numbers for several moments (her handwriting, not his eyesight), then his eyes narrowed and he opened his mouth to speak when the air suddenly grew very still. It looked like the battle had met its climax.

Gene was busy fixing her hairdo, while Thomas lay panting on the ground. He couldn't understand how it had happened. Neither could the crowd apparently, as they looked on with confusion.
Having rearranged her hair properly, her face free of those irritating loose strands which had distracted her throughout the battle, Gene looked down on her opponent and smirked, in that moment having an uncanny resemblance to her boss.
"It was fun playing with you," she said, in a voice that carried. "But I'm out of time." She stomped once on Thomas's back, hard, then walked out of the arena. Strangely, no one stopped her, nor the barriers.

"Is she allowed to do that?" Col asked after a moment. "He's not... Well, he's not dead, is he?" he looked a little confused.
Damon smiled, smug at knowing something Three didn't. "Not yet. But there's no cure. It looks like her power works on cellular level. From what I can see, she disabled his ability to preform mitosis; that is, repair or make new cells. His injuries, as you can see, won't heal. We could use a Healer, but then..." He winced, and decided to leave a few unpleasant side-effects unspoken. "He will slowly die. It's kinder to uh, leave him."
To bleed to death from a few paper-cuts? ... Col didn't have anything to say to that.

Do Two's assistants enjoy using time puns? XD
If not, make it happen. XD

"Bleeding to death isn't very exciting, even if it is Shortcake." Eight pouted, let out a drawn-out sigh, and leaned against the railing looking out into the arena.
"Couldn't we just like, move him over to the side and let him die there while the fighting continues? Dying is the kinder option too, in SOOOO many ways~" She yawned on the "so", as if the emphasize her own increasing boredom.
"So we just let him bleed out on the side, right? Or we could just send someone down to finish him off, I mean, you didn't really expect a assistant tortureror to REALLY let somebody have such an easy death. That would be just silly. And unprofessional. Like a clown not wearing that funny nose. Silly and unprofessional."
The Leader then proceeded to blank out again.

Zach watched the battle, interested at the outcome. He didn't know what the girl's power was, only that it seemed to let her heal and her opponent to bleed out. To defeat her, you must not have to get hit. Couldn't even risk a scratch....
He wasn't dead. The Leader, that is. Zach could tell that much.
Yet no one made a move to try to heal him; there was no carting away to the infirmary. Only as a cadaver, perhaps.
The boy pondered about what was going through the Leader's mind right now. What are his last moments going to be spent on, exactly?
Zach's power couldn't even tell him that, but perphaps some mind reader somewhere was having a field day with this.
(Pictures Riley giggling somewhere, reading Thomas' mind x3 )

@Taffy789 You made me search puns and now I'm laughing my face off XD "Atheists don't solve exponential equations because they don't believe in higher powers." ... I am SO using that in class XD

Riley was having a field day. Literally. Two'd given him a special pass to leave the base and train elsewhere, for no apparent reason other than the excuse that they needed to keep the feral population at bay. Usually it would be whole teams on rotation, but the Ferals had been strangely quiet lately... He supposed few joined their ranks while no fighting was going on.

Col remained motionless for a few more minutes, then nodded in agreement with Eight. The former Five was taken away in silence, and the rank now belonged to Two's assistant.
Rank... It was then he remembered the stats.
"It looks like there's been a strange but dramatic increase in the number of people coming into IOD. The last time that happened was sixteen years." He paused.
Damon drew his eyes again away from the arena, interested. "We've had two candidates this very year, but we lost both of them. If what you're saying is about to pass, then we should stop this fighting right now."
"No one strong enough is likely to lose," Col replied uneasily. He didn't want it to be happening. He didn't want to believe it until he had to. He was also... Incredibly angry. If he'd considered this before then he could have stopped it and saved.... He could have saved Evie! But he'd taken them losing the candidates as evidence to the contrary. But now... The increase showed undeniable signs, and he had reason to suspect...
Damon's eyes narrowed. "You're not born an Unnoen, Three," it almost seemed like Col WANTED others to die.

(If I mess up with something here, don't blame me, I forget how this works... XD)
Zach watched silently as they carried the Leader's body away, and it was clear to everyone that the guy was a goner.
And, sadly, there would be no sniffling fanbase such as the one Seven had either. Such a shame.
Bored by his own sarcasm already, he turned his attention back to the board. The next battle, perhaps? Whose turn was it?
Third battle. 162.
He noted the girl, who looked about same age as him, did well at hiding the nervousness in her body posture that was rather clearly shown in her eyes as she she eyeballed the remaining boxes, and the latter option, Gene.
'Smart girl," Zach smirked as the challenger simply choose to just take on number 136.
The battle was rather plain at first, hand-to-hand, then weapons. The boy, 136 broke first and showed his power-mental pyrotechnics.
As fire erupted out of thin air all around the girl, she simply smiled and-disappeared.
The boy seemed surprised-Even more so suprised when a strong wind blew him flat to the ground, and the girl suddenly materialized out of thin air in front of him as he fell, running a sharp blade into his side.
She let him slump to the ground, not exactly dead, but very much almost-mortally wounded.
Looks like 162 had won.

-Haha, air. XD I stole that from Homestuck.... XD

Damon, who had turned back to the match, cheered lightly at the outcome and announced the day to be one of, "girl power", and sighed happily that it will be, "So much more interesting around here with more pretty faces."
Col heard this with surprise. Four wasn't going to stop it? Eight wasn't paying attention either. It looked like the descision was up to him. He...
Change was coming to IOD, whether Col liked it or not, and there was nothing he could do to stop it, only prepare for its arrival. They needed all the strong fighters they could get, as the stalemate would end. It had been sixteen years since the last Unnoens.

The truth was that IOD had, from the beginning, been chosen as a slaughterhouse. Those who had powers, "users" were sent here to die, as the government feared their power and the disruption they caused wherever they were. For the sake of the rest of humanity, these freaks of nature had to be... Disposed of.
Originally, there had not been the, "Falchions", and, "Glaeroes". Originally, all of the kids sent there were to imeadiately get a bullet in the head and be buried in the ground. IOD was to be a graveyard.
One of those who piloted the first planes to IOD so many years ago and was ordered to shoot a girl of seven years.... Was a man named Dalta. His first name was lost over time, but his last lives on in the organization he formed, which became known as "Dalta" after him.
He couldn't shoot that seven year old girl. He couldn't. He knew this whole thing was evil. So Dalta hid her and took her back with him. When he asked the girl his name, she said she didn't know it, and the answer was the same when he asked where she came from. And so he said, "So it's unknown then." She took that to be her name, but spelt it wrong; "Unnoen".

After that, Dalta worked restlessly to save as many of these kids sentenced to death as he could. He found allies amongst the others with his job and they, "got rid of" the rest, until, secretly, the killing stopped. But the government, of course, kept collecting the kids. Dalta couldn't keep them there in the country, for fear of them being discovered. The obvious solution was to convert the isle on which the children were to die into somewhere the kids could live, for their safety and protection.
At the isle's airport, there was a rock where the three letters, IOD were carved. They stood for, Isle Of Death. IOD. Two lines were added to the D, so it read; IOR. Isle Of Refuge. The refuge only lasted four years. Its undoing, Dalta's failing, was the very reason the kids had been sent to die; they were DANGEROUS.
Unnoen's power was much too strong. When she was eleven years old, her power took control, of her and the whole of IOR. It was no wonder that it did, for her power's name was Dominion, and it possessed the ability to control what It wished. Whatever It wished.
Dominion loved more than anything was battle. It split the kids of IOR in half and decreed that they must fight. Because Its power was control, what Dominion wished because unbreakable law. But as the fighting wore on It became bored as It saw the users fought without spirit as they had nothing to fight for, did not want to fight and only did so because they must. So Dominion gave them this; when one user from each side became as strong as Dominion Itself, no, stronger, then they would fight. In mockery of her user, they were to be known as, "Unnoen".
The victor of this battle would be freed. Freed from the enchanted law of IOD that Dominion had cast, compelling them all to fight, and could finally leave the isle. It was called IOD again, but this time the Isle of Despair, for the only hope of freedom was to be found in killing.... If you could only be chosen as an Unnoen and kill the other, then you could be free.

And what had happened to Dalta, the founder? During those four years, he'd come to realize what Unnoen's power was, Dominion, perfect control. After that, it's not wrong to say that he went insane with paranoia. Had it been his will to save little Unnoen's life and bring her back, or had she controlled that? Had he decided to save the others, or had that been her? Were the thoughts he was thinking right now his own, or was she controlling that too? Dalta disapeared before the four years of IOR were up, and this may have been a factor leading to Unnoen's breaking. However, the operation of the other pilots and government agents assigned to the disposal of the kids continued, supplying the food needed and allowing the kids to live, although they didn't know why the children were fighting amongst themselves. At that time, they stayed out of it.

"No, Three," Two said as he stepped into the leader's box. "Let it continue." Spike looked on without expression as the next combatant was called up.

The leaders currently stand as follows:
One.
Two; Spike.
Three; Col.
Four; Damon.
Five; Gene.
Six; Empty.
Seven; 162.
Eight.
Nine; Empty.

The fourth contestant, 177, and estimated the fifth strongest, chose to take on the empty Six slot. Much to everyone's disbelief, he lost against the SIM by freezing until he nearly died, as it seemed their fire was not hot enough to melt the ice, even if it was SIM and not real. 177 was rushed off IOD to hospital, though it seemed his condition was stable and he would live.
The leaders remained unchanged.

Raven had turned away from the screen, unable to watch, after what had happened to the previous Five. She couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe they showed this on tv. She couldn't believe they let him die, just like Evie, as though their lives meant nothing. She hated this place.

@Asi
So cool.... *.*

The fifth person, 134, who was ranked 10th, looked a little nervous from the outcome of the last battle as he stepped up to face the SIM.
Perhaps this is what caused him to go straight for his power and send a clap of sonic boom heading straight towards the SIM.
Suprisingly, even though the SIM lacked a method of hearing, it still got blown backwards by the blow. 134 then quickly rushed in to finish it off. The SIM countered with it's own ablitity, telepathy maybe, and the battle ensued.
In the end, the SIM was defeated with a knife through it's chest.

~Done. XD

Much to the amusement of those who knew the challenger, 129 chose to literally follow in her teacher's footsteps by choosing Nine's empty slot. It was a strange decision as she had ranked eighth and the boy who had taken Six had been tenth against which the fifth ranked had lost! It was evident that power alone wasn't deciding the outcome.
Then again, it was rather a smart choice, as others were less likely to challenge Ninth place... And this year, it looked like it would be as safe a place as any. This year, nobody would be safe. Not Col, not One, and certainly not any random from the first division.
Right away, Col noticed several similarities in 129's fighting style to Evie's, although he noticed her physique seemed the kind more suited to hand-to-hand then knives. Blades were a good choice though, as it was much faster, and she was outnumbered. However, he could not, to his puzzlement, identify what the girl's power was. Perhaps she, like the kid earlier, had decided not to use it either. She didn't seem to need it though. 129 slipped her weapons out of her excessively long, baggy sleeves, and engaged the SIM in such a fast-paced, ferocious exchange that it was impossible to follow, until something strange happened. 129 was trapped lying on her back beneath a SIM, who was about to deliver a finishing blow when... The SIM froze up, hesitated.... Was it a glitch? 129 snatched the sword from the SIM's grasp and ran it through.
The rest of the battle passed without incident, and 129 was awarded Nine's position.

-WHAT TIME IS IT? 8DDDDD Battle time. BD Mortal combat! FINISH HIM D:< -
X3

~~~
Well, time to go, it seemed.
Zach barely glanced around the arena to look at the stands, his eyes instead focused on the electronic board in front of him, calm and calculating.
The far easiest thing would be a SIM.
But Zach knew he was better than that, and didn't mind actually SHOWING it.
Truthfully, if all 162 could do was wind and fancy telaporting, Zach was positive she'ld be the easiest to take down, even if more skillful than the boy, 134.
Also, he didn't figure out 129's power. Which would make that fight a gamble, something Zach wasn't fond of unless it was Poker, where he could cheat.
That left...
No, it was putting himself in more danger than what it was worth. It would be a stupid, reckless move.
A memory bursted back inside Zach's head. On the mission at France...There had been a standoff.
Between all those powerful Leaders, if a fight had broken out, he probably would've been toast, or so intuition informed him.
Probably, was the key word here.
Only a few seconds of real time had past, unless you were Spike, in that case, it might have well been the minutes it felt like in Zach's mind.
With an almost complacent gleam in his eye, and a smirk on his face, his choose his competitor.
"I'll face 102."
This was the funnest thing to write, ever, except for when One did that advertisement to warn the kiddies about smoking (meaningful look at Two) XD I had fun there too XD
Despite her efforts to avoid it and think of something else, Raven had glanced back to the screen by accident. For some reason, the face on the screen looked strangely familiar. She stared at it blankly for several seconds, uncomprehending. Then it hit her and her jaw dropped so low that if this was a manga, it would have been on the floor. Luckily, it wasn't and the laws of what was physically possible applied, so all it did was hurt slightly, not elongate her head longer that her body, which would have been unfortunate. She choked. How could this be? But it was undeniable; while there were many guys with messy black (she insisted) hair and unremarkable features, no face annoyed her half as much as this one did. It had to be that guy.... What was his name? Oh, that was it! Charm-y.
Raven could hardly believe this. That irritating, dumbass, weakling was on TV? Didn't they have anything at all more interesting to show? What was happening to the world?!
More importantly... He was going to die, without her being there to laugh and grind his face into the ground while that girl of Two's stabbed him! How could they end it like this? She could hardly bear to watch.
Oh? Gene looked up as she was called into battle yet again. It was rather annoying. She was halfway through sorting, labeling and double-checking today's report updates. After, she was meant to inspect those new COMI blueprints, and then go to the old library to find those twenty-odd books Two wanted for some strange reason or other; and only after that would she be able to report back to Dalta.
But it was the rules, and she was required to fight this boy who'd challenged her.
It seemed no time at all before Gene was stepping back into the arena, tightening her bun as she did so to make sure that unlike last time, no irritating loose strands would distract her; she wanted to make his quick.
Before it started, she glanced up to the leader's box. Her expression hardened... "I'm doing this for your sake, Two," she murmured to herself. Oh, she knew he was only using her. She had accepted that. More than anything, Gene wanted... For Two achieve his goal.
The battle started almost as soon as Gene stepped into the arena.
They seemed to skip straight over the hand-to-hand combat, which Zach figured was just as well, considering neither of them possessed offensive powers, which would have stalemated the match.
Gene produced a small knife while Zach pulled one of his swords from its sheath, and they charged each other.
While Zach had the advantage of length, Gene had the advantage of quickness of her attacks, which certainly kept Zach busy.
The assistant swooped in from Zach's right, which he sensed, dodged, and countered. Gene simply smirked and dodged, and a nanosecond later, she was attacking once again from the left. It drew on like this for quite a while, the battle being fought with the same speed and grace as the late Thomas' animal transformations.
Gene had the speed of a falcon, swooping in, trying to land even the smallest blow on 113. Zach, on the other hand, was playing defense, and while he was fully aware this was going to happen from the start, he still found himself swearing under his breath each time he was forced to dodge a close knife-in-the-side.
This was hardly a problem, however. The one thing Zach loved about his power was the ease of it. As long as he remained completely focused and kept his cool, his responses to what his intuition was telling him and his actions were so synchronized with each other, dodging was almost involuntary. He dodged attacks almost as soon as they were set in motion, with the except of a close call every now and then.
Yet, Gene seemed to be fighting with the same intense concentration, dodging Zach's own attacks with and only coming out with the occasional minor scratch, which was quickly healed.
All in all, it almost looked like a giant ballet, except with more weapons.
(trying to write this while watching a movie X3)
Riley spared the briefest of looks at the screen on which the fight was playing, only in order to see how long he had before he was on. Only this battle, then the next, and it was him. There was no way to know how long they'd last, but considering the last few... He sprinted down the corridor, skidded round the corner, kept on running.
He'd returned from his Feral training as quickly as possible without avoiding suspicion. He pretended to go into his room to prepare, but snuck back out as soon as he sensed the area was free, and continued scanning ahead as he ran. Riley wanted to avoid being seen, if at all possible, although he knew instinctively Two was the kind of person little would escape. Maybe it was habit, or something, he didn't know. Riley couldn't remember. That's why he needed to do this.
It was easy to sort through the minds and find the girl- Raven's. She had the strongest barriers of them all.
Breathless, he pressed his hand against the door and it admitted him into the room.
Startled, Raven looked up from the battle. "Riley??" she stared, again rendered speechless.
Dang. This girl was good. Zach was glad he had such great stamina.
He blocked a few more knife-thrusts before moving in with a flash of his sword. Gene side-stepped quickly, and countered, diving under his arm and kicking him in the shin at the same time, throwing Zach off balance.
The boy quickly stepped backwards, recovering his balance, but 102 caught him off guard, giving him a small scratch with a knife on his left arm just befored Zach could jerk it away from the assistant torturer.
The effects of Gene's power was noticeable straight away.
Usually, a small paper cut such as the one on his arm would bleed a bit, but then clot to prevent more blood from escaping. This one, however, did the exact opposite, and kept sending rivers of blood down his arm, showing no signs of stopping. A healer was needed, stat.
Now slightly more annoyed at Gene because of the prick, Zach swung his sword once again at the girl, only to catch her knife and knock it to the dust. He raised his sword once more, only to discover thin air where the girl once stood.
Behind him, his intuition spiked, and 113 sprung forward, feeling a sharp metal blade scratch his right shoulder, sending new blood trails running down his back.
Zach cursed. He didn't need intuition to tell him what had happened.
Cutting him with his second stolen sword? That was adding insult to injury, crafty witch.
(Pffft, lame Zach, pretty lame. XD )
@Taffy789 Nice!! Good combat writing, and great, she doesn't look pathetic XD
He let the door slide shut before collapsing against it and sliding down to the floor. Riley was beat; he'd taken on too much from the Ferals, and he wasn't sure how he'd be ready to take on his match. But that didn't matter right now, really. Riley's eyes didn't leave Raven. She was the link, he was sure of it. His memory was litered with blanks, empty spots where suddenly, it jumped. Sometimes it was only a few seconds missing, sometimes he supected it was more like years. He seemed to have many more memories of his childhood than the last few, and the place called Super School. But when it came to her, all he could remember was the name, "Raven".
Raven's expression grew guarded. "Prove it."
"Huh?" he blinked, confused.
"Prove you are the real Riley," she repeated.
He didn't get what this was about but... "Uh, my name is Riley Diaz, I'm nearly seventeen, I can read minds?"
Raven only frowned.
That wasn't good enough? Riley had no idea how he could prove he was himself. "I have a twin sister called Alex?" he hazarded.
Imeadiately, her face brightened. "Oh! It must be you! You're the real Riley!" To his complete bemusement, Raven tackle-hugged him, half-laughing, half-sniffling and trying not to try. He noticed her restraints which hade bound her to the chair had been broken... Quickly, she drew back, composed herself, and told him stiffly, "Now shh- this is important." She turned back to the TV, but he could tell she was trying not to smile.
Riley still didn't remember her, but... She seemed happy.
(Oh Riley? Glad to see you. Now hold on potentially rescuing me, I want to see this guy I hate bleed to death. ;D Mmkay?) XD Nice judgement skills. X3
--
Zach barely spun around in time to counter the second sword swing. They clashed for a few mintues, but it grew increasingly obvious that Zach had just a bit more experience in swordplay than Gene. It was her turn to start defending.
Gene's eyes narrowed, growing even icyer than before, and she doubled up her attack speed, trying to disarm Zach and force him into a fist fight without a weapon. Zach managed to keep up his guard, but kept muttering a different curse word every few seconds, as the strain of sword fighting with his cut shoulder was stressing the already bleeding wound, perhaps even opening it more? He wasn't sure, but he knew his back was starting to feel number from the pain...he needed to end the fight before he bled out and ended up like Thomas, whos' dried blood was still pooling on the ground a few feet away.
Gene suddenly swung her sword directly at Zach's head, who quickly caught it with his own just before he'd been the first(?) victim of the Gene Guillotine. Once again, intuition rung a bell, and Zach quickly jumped to the side as Gene's foot flew past the spot his torso had just been moments before. Acting quickly, he caught Gene's foot mid-kick, and tugged upwards, sweeping her off the ground and onto her back. With one slash of a sword, Gene's spine was scarred beyond what was repair. It was at this point that Zach knew she'd been beat.
For a few seconds, Zach couldn't help but consider pulling what she did on Thomas, and just leave, but he waved off the idea. It would be a safer bet to kill her off anyway.
(Uhh, want to do a last moments thing now? XD He literally cut to her spine with that sword...Sharp. ^^;; )
@Taffy789 EXACTLY X3 No, it's more like she's embarrassed, but still happy Riley's there, and also enjoying the battle, because despite her lying to herself about wanting Zach dead and is actually worried and somewhat impressed? (although she truly does want to grind his face into dirt). I'm confused too X3
And he's obviously not here to rescue her X3 While his memory was wiped, his brain cells weren't ^^"
Mine were 😸
Suddenly Raven's hand flew to her mouth in shock. It looked as though the fight was over. Did she have some kind of emotional link to this battle? He couldn't read her mind, but her stress waves seemed to be easing off. Her two prevalent emotions were relief, and horror, but it seemed she was more relieved by the outcome than she was horrified by the death she was witnessing on the screen.
He should wait til she calmed down before talking though. If she did know the guy like he guessed then... Riley had no idea how she could stay so calm, really. He wondered if she'd be this upset when she saw him up there.
It was a bit like Deja vu when a leader again jumped the railing and landed lightly inside the arena, while a girl slowly struggled to take in another breath. But this time, it wasn't Col but Spike, and he didn't hurry to Gene's side but walked, slowly and calmly, with the whole audience watching with bewilderment. It was crazy enough for Col, known to be human despite his monster power, to interrupt a match for his friend and former teammate, but Two? For his assistant??
As he passed Zach, who was now curiously still as a statue, he muttered a polite, "excuse me" (mostly to the camera, as Zach wasn't alive to appreciate it).
Spike stopped at Gene's side and she looked up to find no sympathy in those dark, cold eyes. None at all. For a few moments, he contemplated her, saying nothing.
"...!" she gasped, pain stealing her voice.
Slowly, he sighed and sat down cross-legged, all casual like. "Gene," he said, as if greeting her for a coffee, "Gene, you're dying. Are you scared?" Spike asked, smirking like he always did.
"I... I..." she barely choked it out.
"It's okay; I know about your mission," he leaned in and spoke quietly.
Her eyes widened. After a few shaky breaths, she managed to stammer. "T-to report on y-you?"
He nodded, reached out and began playing gently with her hair, which had completely escaped during the fight. "But I knew you were on my side, weren't you?"
Shakily, Gene swallowed and nodded. "I did it...for you. Because...you have a r-reason to l...live. So you....c-can...complete your..........goal." She looked about to drift off.
He clenched his hand into a fist, pulling on her hair, and she yelped in pain. "Gene. Are you scared?" he asked again, slowly, this time serious.
"S-scared?" she trembled slightly. She was.
"Well, goodbye," he said indifferently, and KICKED her. Gene's body hit the distant side of the area, hard. She was dead.
Now that that was over, his gaze returned to statue-Zach. He unfroze the kid with a thought, (who had completely missed the exchange? He knew that locking the boy in time like that had been a risk, and could reveal him, but... What was a power if you could never use it?) and gave him a quick once-over examination, before making to leave, completely ignoring the baffled audience. Let them stare; he cared nothing for them, as they knew nothing, understood nothing.
He walked out of the arena, wondering whether this replacement, if he continued to survive, would really be able to take what should have been Gene's place. But it didn't really matter. There wasn't anyone who could get in his way, not anymore.
@Asi Sooo...kismees? XD //shot //shot //shot
(Homestuck referencing )
IT MAKES ALMOST TOO MUCH SENSE. XD
Zach furrowed his brow as he came to and watched Spike stroll off.
..What had just happened?
Calmly glancing down to secertly check his body for any stab wounds, he was relieved to see he was free from any new puncture wounds, and that Gene had also ceased breathing. That was all as well, as it saved him the annoyance of a finishing blow.
He paused briefly, picked his second sword off from the ground and replaced both of them back into their sheaths, then wiped his forhead with the back of his hand, and started strolling at the same leisurely paced Two had been moving at to exit the arena.
Zach barely noticed the blood, both his and Gene's, soaking his boots intil he saw the bright red footrpints trailing behind him.
The fact that the entire back of his shirt was now almost completely soaked in his own blood was less unnoticable, however, as well as the fact that the blood hadn't stop running even after Gene's death...
Luckily, he reached the exit right before he started to feel woozy, and the healers spirted 113 away to go get quickly cleaned up.
(I hope they clean him up, anyway. XD I mean, fighting witha prexisting wound like that... XD )
@Taffy789 What is that?? I don't know what you're on about... O_O
"I.. Don't get it," Damon frowned. "What the heck just happened?"
Col turned to him with a strange expression. "Two doesn't have anything to do with Dalta, does he?"
Damon had a weird feeling as if he'd just been slapped in the face. "Yeah, he does. He has a lot to do with them. That's where he came from."
That really puzzled Col. Whenever Dalta send someone to IOD... There should be a record of it. But there wasn't. There was for Gene, but not Two... What records DID Two have? He made a mental note to go over them.
"So," Raven struggled to compose herself, as she turned back to Riley, "what are you doing here? Surely not with some foolish idea about rescuing me," she rolled her eyes.
"No," he sighed. "But don't worry; he can't kill you, not if he wants me to continue cooperating."
Her eyes darkened. So that was it, why she was being left alone. She didn't think that Riley understood Two very well. She'd no doubt the guy would have hundreds of ways of manipulating people like Riley without having to feed her, but she didn't say this.
Two's motives... Why had he told her those things, about him?? Was it just to scare her? No... It was like he'd wanted her to know. Why was that?
Riley spoke again and she nearly jumping, having forgotten all about him. "Raven. Who are you?" he asked slowly. "I'm sorry but, I can't remember!" he looked at her so helplessly. "I remember your name, but that's it."
Of course. If the fake Riley had remembered her, this Riley wouldn't. Now that she thought about it, that Riley had asked her name when they'd first met, even though he'd seemed to have recognized her... It seemed like their memories were split.
@asi
;D
Reincarnation? Like a cult? *Imagines the strangest scene involving bald caps, bathrobes, and poisoned punch.* XD
Annabell had long given up trying to stomach watching the Truce matches, and was once again simply wandering around the base. She'd probably searched every knook and cranny of the place that was possible, figuratively, of course, who knew how big this place was?
Frankly, this entire place was actually very weird...She almost didn't understand it all. Then again, nothing had ever seemed that normal, anything from the Super School to those creepy government labs...
Annabell sighed, and listened in on some others as they chatted about the latest development on the Truce. She didn't really pay close attention to them, as they were just using the fighter's numbers, not names, so she didn't really understand who they were discussing anyway.
(I'm so lost on what to write... .___. )
@Taffy789 ...
What was she looking for?? X3
Rather than taking an age to explain it all, Raven reluctantly allowed her friend past her mind barriers so he could see her memories as she thought of them.
"So..." Riley struggled to catch up. "Now the fake, uh, me, has Angel?!"
Raven winced, but nodded.
"And they are going to do what with her?"
"Well," she said quietly, worried of how he might react, but not willing to lie. "I suppose they are going to try and... Make her like them."
"... Cch." Riley's eyes narrowed and he glowered at the wall. "And... Alex?"
She shrugged. "I don't know."
Raven wasn't surprised when he stood up and walked over to the door, and told her that he had to leave. (But he hadn't told her what had happened to him... She was going to get another shock when he appeared next on her screen.)
Riley was wandering the corridors, thinking about what he had just experienced when he saw someone he recognized.
"Annabell?" he managed to name her. Wow, it had been so long...
Then he remembered he was supposed to have died. Oh crud. How ever was he going to explain this one??
@Asi xD
She's curious. XD Probably just trying to see all she can learn about this place... And she's rather bored. XD
Annabell glanced up as she heard someone call her name.
Oh. Riley. He recognized her? Which probably meant he'd recovered some more after...Eight did whatever the heck she did. Still, she didn't think any small memory of herself would even be mildly important enough to remember...
"Oh, hey there Riley." Annabell greeted him, waving. "So, you stopped following Two around or-" Wait, she'd turned invisible when Riley got his memories unlocked by Crazy Eight-Did that sound too stalkerish?
"I-uh, saw you earlier.", she blurted out, quick to explain, "I figured that something "else" happened? I just went with a failure of a pulse-taking on Leon's part..." She merely shrugged, referencing his "death" and shaking her head. "Good to have you back?"
(This made me happy to write. XD Her voice... Much better than stupid Zach's POV. D:< And less insane than Eight's. XD
A nice break, really. XD Such hesitance! XD Lawl. I'll post the next battle in the next response? XP )
@Taffy789 Makes sense... XD
"Um, yeah. Something like that," he laughed awkwardly. Leon? It vaguely rang a bell. It was so hard, trying to put a face to the name.
Then at a loss as to what to say, he wandered over to a nearby screen and watched silently as the latest victor was teleported off, looking, well... It didn't set his heart at ease for what was to come, not one bit. Okay, he admitted it, he was somewhat nervous. I mean, a death match with a huge audience? Seriously creepy.
Sighing, he turned away and took a seat opposite Annabell (... where are they, anyway? XD), complaining lightly as he did so; "Two weeks and I think this place is driving me crazy." At least, he could only remember two weeks. Immediately after saying it he realized it was rather insensitive; who knew how long Annabell had been stuck here? Oh, well, no taking that back.
He sighed again. The government couldn't really keep them here, could they? Surely there was a way to escape the place.
