Phoebe held her breath and shut her eyes tightly. The birds stopped, hovered in the same area for a moment, then began to recede into the forest. She felt the boy let go of her hand, and she shook out her tingling fingers. Her hand had started to fall asleep.

With a deep sigh, she turned to face this other boy. He was pale, deathly white in the dim light of the moon, and his hair was black enough to disappear into the night. He had a cruel face, and an unkind voice, and he held his sword in his lap. Oddly enough, he had not tried to attack them.

Phoebe was no angelic sight herself. She was spattered with blood, both human and nonhuman, both her own and others'; it speckled her arms and legs, while large splashes covered her face and chest. On the side of her torso, where her shirt was torn, a dark blot grew steadily larger. Gripped in her right hand was a bloodied dagger, and her stormy grey eyes were wild.

Suddenly, the boy with the emo haircut was asking the other boy (he had a bizarre name, she remembered) if he wanted to be allies. Her head whipped around to stare at him, incredulous at his hasty request.

"The other alliances are growing bigger," she added, referring to the pack that seemed to follow Sylvia and Joseph. They, the stragglers, could be in serious trouble soon.

Rosaline saw that her gash was healing, but she was still limping. She went up to the tree she was in and went "ZZZ." She didn't hear somebody coming to kill her.

Alex was a few feet from Jamie when she turned. Jamie smiled, "Did you think you could sneak up on me Alex?" She held out her dagger and kicked away Alex's sword, "You should have known that you couldn't beat me." Alex stared at her, her eyes cold and hard as steel.

Joseph didn't make a movement to help Alex, this was her fight and if he stepped in she would hate him forever so he say and watched.

Kenny heard footsteps nearby. He pulled out a knife and saw a girl sleeping in a tree nearby. She seemed to have a bad limp. He bit his bottom lip, then went up the tree. "Sorry", he whispered before slashing through her heart.

Jamie had the dagger ready to strike Alex in the heart but then with a smile Alex said, "I don't think so." She turned into a seal and slipped out of Jamie's grasp. She turned back into a human and said, "You will have to do better then that." Suddenly Jamie through the knife and striked Alex in her stomach. Alex clutched her stomach and fell over but no cannon sounded, Jamie guessed that she was suffering and gave a smile. That was exactly what she wanted. Joseph stared his eyes widening slightly as Alex fell, his sister had been defeated by Jamie.

Alex stood up and notched an arrow silently. She let it go and Jamie fell over dead. Alex was not wounded much just a little bruised and she walked over to Joseph.
