Aykay shook her head.

"The only surgery I ever had was back when scientists thought tfreak genetic mutations might be a fun idea... and that was before I was captured." She told him. "So it's probably not that."

She sighed.

"But there were countless times I passed out while imprisoned here, so I guess we'll never know..."

Frost suggested splitting up again. To be honest, she didn't care anymore what they did.

"What are you proposing we do?" She asked, curious to hear her plan.

"Kill them, capture them... I do not care, but I would prefer the latter. If you do manage to capture one of the idiots, then I would reward you greatly. Perhaps then, you would never have to steal again..." She trailed off as her eyes narrowed into a glare. "Not even from my home." she hissed in annoyance.

"I've been meaning to address this concern of mine." Her arms crossed over her chest. "There are things in the palace that shouldn't be touched. There is a reason we keep them where we keep them." Sylvia uncrossed her arms, before tilting her head in the direction of Stark Tower, not bothering to tell Shaula the floor he could be on. He could be anywhere when she got there.

"I might add that you couldn't burn the insect even if you tried."

With that last sentence, she turned her head away from Shaula, signalling for the thief to leave with a wave of her hand.

Shaula narrowed her eyes at Sylvia. With a huff of annoyance, she turned around, gathering the last of her items to get ready to leave to Stark Tower. She turned to the direction of Stark Tower and grabbed a small dagger, clenching it between her fists. She quickly got a ride to Stark Tower.

Shaula stared up at the large tower. 'Here goes nothing.' She walked through the doors and surveyed her surroundings. What was the best way to do this? She looked up to see an air vent - perfect. Shaula easily blasted off the lid and threw up a long piece of rope. She climbed up and began crawling throw the narrow, dusty air vents.

Shaula crawled up and around, making notice of any noise - any human noises, animals, really, anything. Finally, after what seemed like ages, she began to hear the faint noise of arguing. Grinning, Shaula crawled on. She found a small opening, which she blasted open. She swiftly jumped down.

"Parties over, guys. Give me Andrew."

Aykay jumped, expecting Sylvia, but it was just some girl with a gun. While this wasn't good news necessarily, At least they weren't faced with Sylvia.

"Look." she said, raising her hands to show that she wasn't going to hurt her. Might as well be civil until she started acting hostile. "If you want the metal man, he's up a level from here. We won't interfere with your mission."

She looked at the weapon in her hand. She needed to be able to react if she moved it suddenly. She didn't trust the newcomer.

Shaula glared at the blonde girl. In one split second, she dashed forwards and slammed her to the wall. She pushed the gun to her forehead and hissed. "Look, blondie, my body is made out of fire." she hissed into her ear. "You certainly won't interfere with my mission, you'll do EXACTLY as I say, or I'll burn you and your little circus show into crisps." She put extra emphasis on the word crisps, and just to make a point, Shaula's fingertips burst into flame, lightly burning the girl's shoulder.

Shaula let go of the blond girl and turned around. "All of you stay here." Shaula snarled. She quickly created a fireball and shot it to the exit to make sure that no one could escape.

"I'll be getting metal man now. If I find one person out of place, the chitauri will be having one VERY tasty meal." Shaula growled.

She turned around and stormed up the stairs to find Andrew.

Sylvia huffed and shook her head, failing to hide her smirk. She watched Shaula until she got out of sight, before turning to walk towards the palace. Soon, she reached the slaving grounds. The demi-god glared at everyone she passed, keeping her green eyes on the working humans.

After a bit of barren land, she raised an hand to her mouth to smother a yawn as she continued towards the palace, which she could now see in the distance. As she continued on her way, Sylvia pulled out a tiny device of which showed Margot and Stark on the screen. Everything went blurry for a bit as the moth hopped around, before clearing as it settled down in it's new position.

The demi-god looked up when she arrived at the doors of current home. Sylvia nodded an greeting to the chitauri standing guard, before heading down the hallway, eyesonce again on the device.

Kita stood up straight as the princess entered the palace She had just finished mopping up the floor. She lowered her head and followed close behind.

"Welcome back, milady." she said softly. "I hope that your trip was productive. Can I get you anything?"

@bunnyshadow

Aykay hit the wall hard. This girl was so obviously hostile... As the girl burned her arm, she cried out in pain. Definately hostile. She felt involuntary tears well up in her eyes from the burning sensation. Why hadn't she transformed?

When the girl released her, she sank to the ground, holding her shoulder and looked over at the others for ideas.

Sylvia turned to face Kita, her eyes already narrowing into a glare. She seemed about to hit the slave, before her eyes flashed with what seemed to be contempt, maybe even guilt. "Can you do anything other than prepare food and clean?" she suddenly asked. Her hand reached into her pocket. Sylvia was about to drop the device in. The demi-god paused mid motion, before flipping the device around so that Kita could see the screen. It now showed Shaula and the rebels, with Aykay on the floor.

"What do you think of this?"

-

As soon as Shaula attacked Aykay, Moth number 2 flew into the air, as to not bother Shaula as she fought. The insect hovered a few feet above everyone's heads, moving around so that it could get a good look of everybody around.

Kita looked at the screen. The thief girl was yelling instructions at a group of beaten-looking... well... kids really...

"One looks seriously injured." She said cautiously. "Like she was just wounded by a chitauri. Ordinarily, I would percieve the others to be only a rebel gang looking to vandalise and riot, but..."

She trailed off, not sure whether to continue. Lady Sylvia seemed to want an answer though, so she continued.

"But they are in Stark Tower, which is a feat in itself." She said slowly. "But the real indication that they are more than a cheap rebel group is that it is one of the most guarded places in the city and there is not a chitauri in sight, which leads me to believe that they might be superhuman..."

She looked up at her, hoping she'd given an acceptable answer. "As for what I can do other than cleaning and preparing food, milady need only ask what it is you wish and I can tell you if I can do it."

Zoe rushed over as soon as that fireball head had gone. Furious, she muttered, " Beastly, barmy, batty, hideous little witch," She looked frantically through her backpack and finally found a minuscule jar of aloe, lavender, witch hazel, and other cooling ingredients and gently applied it to Aykay's shoulder. "It may hurt a bit, but it should soothe the burning soon," she murmured softly, as if she was speaking to a child. She waved for Jake to come over to help out.

~~~
Frost stood very still and didn't move as the foreign girl-it was strange for her to incorporate Aykay and the others as "them" already-came in there, threw a tantrum, and left. She didn't do a single thing as Zoe sprinted over to tend to Aykay. She froze up in surprise as the girl's little outburst came in.
Trying to recover, she scanned the room. "So, we can't go down, thanks to the mental girl." She frowned as she saw a bug. A moth to be exact. She threw a dagger, aiming it, just be safe. She knew that it wasn't going to hit, but maybe.....her eyes widened slightly as she tried to put two and two together. A bug...Margot said something about a bug.....right? She stiffened slightly, then tried to signal the others that it wasn't safe to talk. "We should leave," she finally murmured, barely audible. At the same time, she hid her clip into the pocket of her jeans and the transmitter, setting it on so the others could hear. Hopefully.
To be honest, the fact that it was telepathy was actually worse. It meant that the enemy could get into Aykay's head (and possibly others too?) from presumably great distances, and read her mind, and it didn't look like there was anything they could do about it. Certainly not up Ray's alley; if only it had been a simple implant, he sighed. Though he wasn't qualified per se to deal with such a thing, he could probably have done it, with the right stuff... It would have been interesting, to say the least.
"Holy crud!" he was so completely immersed with fun thoughts of brain implants that even with his special training, the random girl bursting out from the air vents caught him completely by surprise. Even with his usually fast reactions, he wasn't able to act before a gun was pressed against Aykay's head. Ray felt absolutely horrible, that he'd been sitting around useless at healing, and now when the danger came that he was supposed to handle, he was still completely irrelevant. In a few seconds, the threatening girl was gone and he slumped back against the wall, cussing a little under his breath. Why had he ever been crazy enough to come to this stupid tower, anyway? If he got out of this alive, he'd swear off coffee for making him so reckless... Maybe.
The dagger flew past Mothy, missing his tiny body entirely. The weapon curved downwards as it descended towards the ground, before landing on the cement with a loud crack. The insect seemed confused at whether or not it should follow Shaula, before it landed up high on a wall, having decided to stay.
Aykay flinched as Zoe rubbed the goop on her shoulder. She didn't expect it to be so cold.
"What do we do now? She cut off our exit." She asked. "One thing's for sure, though. Sylvia is no longer here."
She stood up slowly, a little shaken from the encounter. That girl was dangerous. They had to think of something...
"If this girl is here to get Andrew and she's trying to capture us, it means Sylvia sent her... she definitely has powers... she could be a bounty hunter."
Shaula quickly whipped out a hair band and pushed her hair into a messy bun. "You coming or not?" she asked impatiently.
Sylvia cocked her head to the side as she listened to Kita. The servant girl was clever, though the human may not know it. The answer that Kita gave was acceptable... more acceptable then the servant herself may of thought. Sylvia shut down the device, before slipping it into her pocket. The demi-god reached out with her hand, holding it out to help Kita up from her position.
"Follow me." she said.
Once Kita was standing, Sylvia let go and turned on her heel. She walked down hallways, and went down a flight of stairs to a lower level. The demi-god never turned her head to look if the servant was following. It was the human's own loss if she didn't. After a bit, Sylvia paused in front of a door.
"I know being a servant isn't enjoyable." she said abruptly, before changing the subject. "This room is where we store weapons that are no longer used, or are waiting to be used." Sylvia paused as her eyes flickered to the side. "I want to see how well you do with them. If you do good enough, you may be relieved from your current..." She trailed off as she looked for a fitting word. "Job."
Frost saw the moth land. As if she was a cat focused on a ball of yarn, she aimed her other dagger just as the first one appeared back in her hand. "Stupid little bug,"she muttered furiously. Then she muttered sarcastically, "No, that's not a bounty hunter; it's a dancing fireball who just happened to wake up on the wrong side of the bed."
She closed her eyes for a moment, thinking. Zoe's cream seemed to have worn off and her arm and leg was throbbing again. "There are always black markets...I may have some contacts in this area...." she murmured, softly, yet at the same time, loud enough for the others to hear. Hopefully, the creepy little bug couldn't hear. She continued, voicing her thoughts. "To even go to one would mean going up, and it would probably get suicidal..."
Her voice grew even softer as the information became more confidential. "Yeah...there should be people who owe me some favors....it would mean using another alias.....Shadow...hmm..." Her eyes snapped open again to glare at the others. More specifically, Ray. He hadn't talked much, except for cursing, and that had not been exactly helpful. "Well? Anything useful?" She checked if she killed the moth yet. Unconsciously, she turned her dagger into a bow and a set of arrows.
~~~~

Zoe took out bandages and wrapped them around Aykay's arm. "Did it sting? Maybe I didn't use enough aloe...." she fretted as Aykay flinched. Tense, Zoe bit her lip worriedly. Even when Jake tried to comfort her, she still was freaked out. "Even if we have a plan, we can't carry two injured people, right?" She voiced it out loud to no one in particular.

Kita followed her to the door. The princess' offer stunned her. She looked up at Lady Sylvia in shock. There was no sign of a lie on her face. She was being completely serious...

"I will do as you say, milady." She said. "But I must ask why you are offering this to me. There are servants in Master Loki's palace far stronger than I."

Aykay smiled gently at Zoe.

"No, it's just cold is all. It's much better, thank you." She assured the poor girl. She then turned to Frost. "Black market? I thought those were wiped out by the machines years ago. They managed to survive that?"

"Don't think I chose you because I believe you are special." Sylvia said coldly. "You were only at the right place at the right time." Her hand held the doorknob tightly, before loosening. Frost turned to look at Aykay. No..not look. Observe. " Maybe some have died out. But some markets..." she started off quietly. Then she remembered the bug. Her voice turned into a warning and curt tone. "There are always methods to get what you need." She stared into Aykay's eyes, trying to warn her to not ask more.

Kita bowed before proceeding. She had overstepped her boundaries.

"Of course, milady. My apologies."

She walked among the weaponry, marveling at the variety. There were guns, swords, spears and weapons she didn't have a name for. It gave her an odd chill.

She didn't want a gun. She felt uncomfortable holding that much power. At first, she thought she might choose a sword, but when she pictured herself using it, she immediately put that thought aside. Swords were messy. Spears and archery required aim she didn't have.

Then she saw it.

It was a staff made of some odd black material that when she touched it felt like rubber, but had a solid core. The ends of the thing were metal, which confused Kita until she flipped a switch and they became alive with electricity.

It was designed to stun an opponent for capture rather than aiming to kill, she realized. It was much more of her level of combat. The thing felt natural in her hand and she couldn't help but smile.

"This one, milady." she told Sylvia.

@bunnyshadow

Aykay nodded. Frost was acting strangely. It was as if she saw something Aykay could not. Aykay looked around, but saw only a small moth.

She gingerly touched the bandage on her shoulder. It stung, but it wasn't bad. She knew better than to think the girl was weak though. She had just gone easy on her.

"So what do we do about the firecracker?" she asked Frost. "She's a lot more powerful than she's letting on..."

Sylvia kept an eye on Kita as she chose her weapon. She arched an eyebrow at the servant's choice, but made no comment on it. She walked over to where the girl was and reached out to touch the rod, feeling the material.

Kita hesitated before nodding. Her parents had taught her to fight with a bamboo pole as a means of self defense when they were running from the chitauri before they'd all been captured.

The pole had not done her father much good against the chitauri, and she had been far too small to be any challenge to them anyhow.

She doubted that the princess would be getting her to fight chitauri. More likely, it would be the rebels, and Kita was unsure of how she felt about that.

"I was taught with a wooden pole, but it would be similar, except..." she looked up at the metal tips. "One must always be sure to keep one's hands away from the ends. It is a defensive weapon, but the electrified ends give it offensive qualities."

Sylvia stared intently at Kita as she spoke. After the servant had finishes speaking, Sylvia gave a nod of approval. "Fight me." She said. "Turn the electricity off. You will need to learn how to fight with the rod itself before beginning to use the edges." The demi-god took off her belt(with her sword) and dropped it on the ground. She walked over to the row of weapon and picked out a long rod similar to Kita's, before holding it out in a defensive stance.

"Are you ready?"

Surely this was a trick... She wanted Kita to fight her?

Kita switched off the electricity and hesitantly took a fighting stance. She watched the princess' footing, trying to remember what her father had taught her.

She launched forward, swinging her staff at waist-level at the princess' ribcage. Right before she hit though, she slowed the staff, unwilling to hit her at full strength.

Jake walked over to Alexis. Frost, Alexis, it was still HER. "Oh, lighten up," he teased half-heartedly, trying to cheer her up. "The Frost I knew wasn't this de-attached. You need to be happier, more upbeat." Knowing that she might start punching him, he stepped back nervously. Zoe turned to look at him and gave a reassuring smile. She added, "Come on, Ale-Frost. You should try to find the good things in life." Jake nodded, almost ganging up on Frost. He almost would have laughed if the situation weren't so tense when Zoe stage-whispered, " Ah well. If she has the soberness of someone at least twice her age, it means we can enjoy ourselves."

~~~~
Frost opened and rolled her eyes and stared at them wearily. "I really can't believe that you guys are older than me-one by two years, and one by three years." She shook her head in resignation. She added bitingly, "And I still haven't settled things with you two yet. Just you wait." She really didn't want them to go through this. Frost could tell that this was long and painful.
Aykay listened to the three of them talk. It was just like normal friends would talk. Teasing each other, goofing around... Just like her and Amira used to.
She looked down at her arms and was suddenly aware of how odd they looked to her. She'd spent so much time as a tiger these last few months that she'd almost forgotten what her human body was like...
"My tiger won't be much use unless I sneak up on her." she said. "But Frost's weapons are good at a distance, right? You just have to keep her away from you. I could distract her at close range while you attack long range."
She turned to Aizel. "I don't know what your powers are, but you can join in wherever you are able."
Frost nodded slowly. "That'll work out. Our priority is getting out....." Casually, she shot some arrows at where the moth was last seen. Then she added, "Aizel, anything you could add? Maybe something about our friend Pyra?" She pointed vaguely at Pyra.
Frost turned to Zoe and Jake. It was wrenching to do this, but she had to do it, for their safety. "Look," she began seriously, not looking directly at them. Instead, she took out her bow and arrows and transformed it into a clip again. "You do know that by coming with us, you two may experience very painful events. You'll see dreadful things, far worse then what you're seeing now. You'll be scarred. You may lose everything. There's a big chance that you won't be able to see the sun rise up the next day, a huge percent that you'll be worrying if you would be able to open your eyes. Do you really want to experience that? If you guys leave now, it's not too late." By this time, her voice was entirely flat. She took a deep breath and looked directly at them.
~~~~

Zoe was a little shell-shocked. When Alexis had looked at them, her eyes almost seemed to flicker silvery blue. They seemed to be full of cool fire, but also with flecks of pain....hidden memories. That did it for Zoe. "Look, Frost," she half snarled, half cried out. She brushed away Jake's arms. "I don't bloody care what I see. Life's painful as it is. Don't you try to convince us to leave." With a huff, she glared at Frost, while Frost glared at her.

~~~
Jake stepped back again in defeat. He saw the two girls glaring at each other, blue eyes and green eyes fighting a mental battle. Sometimes, those two were too alike for his own good. " You two. Stop." he commanded. He flinched as they both glared at him, but he continued. "We're not leaving. We'll be fine. We've seen pain, and we can defend ourselves, for the most part." As the two girls continued to glare at him, he held his breath. Only when Frost sighed and muttered, "I despise you so much right now, I'm about to kill you. " was when he relaxed.
