Halloween.

You wander outside, to get a fright.
Oh what wanders through the night?
With a bag of candy in your hand
You walk across a neighbors land.

You stop and see something in the shadows,
You think a zombie just arose.
Howling in the woods,
freezing you right where you stood.

You run towards your street
When you arrive you feel beat.
You laugh at how scared you were,
Then you hear a startling purr.

Your cat comes out to greet you.
Her purr sounds like a witches mew.
She looks just like she owns halloween,
You feel safe with a little queen.

~~~
Omg! this is so bad DX I hate it, but I'm too lazy to make a better one...
I'd like to join! 😃
Candy Corn Nights
The howl of werewolves fills the night,
As we dress up in costumes and give friends a fright.
Tonight there's no humans,
Just vampires and zombies.
Black cats with bad luck,
And toilet paper mummies.
The patios aglow with jack-o-lantern light,
Parents telling kids, "You'll be in bed by midnight!"
Spooky music playing from hidden stereos,
Frankenstein costumes with torn up clothes.
The red leaves of fall rustle in the night's wind.
No one is ready for Halloween's end.
Cackles of witches sending chills down your spine,
No matter how creepy, you'll have a good time,
On this Halloween Eve, with the full moon above.
With these candy corn nights tradition, I've fallen in love.
That was cringey but oh whale. 😊
I'd like to join. ❤️ I'm bad at writing but here goes. 😸 The poem is bad but oh well.
Hallows Eve and Halloween
On the night of Hallow's Eve
While the children sleep
You can hear the the ghosts grieving,
As they start weep.
Every Halloween night,
Monsters and Demons alike,
Give us a tons of fright!
In the chilly air we walk while we trick or treat for treats,
Werewolves are looking for treat and meats.
Coustumes of all and children of all,
Party and play as the werewolves call.
Childern go home with friends,
As the Halloween night end.
A fun little English sonnet to spread Halloween cheer? (I am bad at iambic pentameter, please don't judge 😋) 😸
Hallow's eve - a night of pure fun
There is magic in the air.
A witch brewing potions in her cauldron
with a tangled rat's nest of hair.
Demons rise this Halloween night,
Through them evil may'st flow
To give the children a hearty fright,
For their hearts are pure black like a crow
Tonight the beasts come to feast on fright
But little ones, have no fear
For this fun may only last one night
But will always come back next year.
And though you may miss Halloween when it's gone
If you wait there will always be another one!
@novrain62
I would like to join here is a long poem:
Halloween
Halloween, blood gurgling scream
Little children run and hide
Ghost costumes and flying brooms
On which evil witches ride
Haunted house, a shredded blouse
A scarecrow in the backyard
Graveyard love, vampire's blood
Can make this night seem so hard
Halloween, enchanted scene
A night filled with pure terror
Freddy Krueger, plastic Luger
There is no room for error
Rotten eggs, a neighbor begs
"Please don't use toilet paper."
Pranksters prey and run away
Like they just pulled a caper
Halloween, big eyes of green
A black cat is hissing loud
Ghosts say "Boo" and Mom warns you
"Don't stray too far from the crowd."
Trick or treat, a candy sweet
Also calories galore
Get off track and circle back
Maybe you will get some more
Halloween, number thirteen
A night of goblins and ghosts
Pumpkin patches, bag snatchers
And a Jack-O-Lantern host
Pitch black night, kids filled with fright
Enchanting and scary scene
A full bag will make them brag
And long for next Halloween
hope this poem is not too long
In a little old house on a road,
When people waked by they will shiver,
And then they will,
Quiver.
There lived a little old women in the little old house,
Every Halloween she will come out.
With bags of candy in her hands,
She will talk and yell until everyone come out.
They will shout,
It Halloween! It Halloween! Everyone thing with us!
Every Halloween night the old women gets a bag.
And goes trick or treating on a bus.
But when Halloween ends she says bye-bye!
And go into her little house.
And let's a year pass by
when it's Halloween she comes out with her head full of louse.
And shout it's HALLOWEEN!!!!!!
@novrain62 never been great with poetry but it sounds great fun
As you creep along through the night,
you find something that gives you a fright
a ghost of ghoul i wonder
but sadly their is no time to ponder
you begin to run as fast and you can
then you hear a large BANG!
sadly that was the end
but maybe it wasnt and.....
@novrain62 i'm gonna try! XD
Halloween night
doesn't seem like a fright
unless your one who
stays till midnight
ghosts fly through walls
ghouls groan and roam
the night is filled with werewolf howls
and vampires float looking for victims
you most likely wonder
why you chose to stay so late
but there is no time to ponder
you need to fall asleep to escape!
@novrain62 why not
It's Halloween, it's Halloween,
So get in the scene.
The candy so sweet,
The skeletons you meet,
The bats flying around,
Ghosts making spooky sounds,
The Jack-o-lantern's light
The zombies giving you a fright,
It's Halloween, It's Halloween,
So get in the scene.
HER
She is watching.
As your children are walking.
Unaware.
That she is always there.
The owls are hooting,
Forest flowers are drooping,
Rose thorns keep protruding
And haunted vines remain looping
Where once the woman lied,
and where once the woman died.
On the night of all hallow's eve,
She is seen, but yet they still can't believe
That their own eyes have witnessed something
Horrifying, Terrifying... Nothing.
They are running now,
Lurching away with their sanity in tow.
Turning back they attempt to see,
but that hesitation is the fee.
Of which their life no longer gives,
as your children no longer lives.
@norvain62 I have no talent but its fun to try 😊
Fog filled sky
Scream filled streets
Feel like your gonna die?
Must be Halloween
Werewolfs running through the wood
Tricks and treats at every door
Better pray for something good
And stuff your greedy face with more
Midnight's here
Witches cackle
And your shaking in fear
Getting snickers is quite a hassle
@novrain62
Hmm...Poetry has never really been a specialty of mine, but I'll give it a shot 😊
Don't be a downer on Halloween (alternatively titled: 'Don't forget your Halloween manners')
Feeling the coldness of the night,
I wake up in such a fright,
Halloween has just begun,
And down goes the morning sun.
I think I might stay inside instead,
Curled up in my comfy bed-
But still, the door goes 'knock, knock, knock'
"Oh my god, when will it stop?"
Little do I know, death is at my door,
Cursing me for evermore.
Feeling the coldness of the night,
I wake up in such a fright.
Give me five minutes to recover from the cringe this poem afflicted on me lol
@novrain62 Yay! I finished it! ...Cringe of the century.
Full moon bright against the void like sky
Howls and growls of werewolves rising high
Chills of ghosts playing and the warm blood dripping off vampires' teeth
Monsters under beds hiding in the shadows beneath
All seen by those who truly believe
For those who don't is a sadder scene
A blood curdling cry is a recorded scream
The witch's cauldron is a fog machine trick
And the thought of candy corn makes them sick
So keep on believing, for a scary good time
To taste the ghastly ingredients in a spell the witches chime
To hear the playful giggles of ghouls and goblins in the darkness
To see the potions of newt eyes and frog carcass
Because for those who are filled with Halloween spirit
Have spook-tacular fun and don't fear it
Here's my entry yikes
There is a house at the end of your street
"It's haunted!" they say. How sweet.
With its boarded up windows and caution tape
Only you know what real horror awaits.
You begin walking, facing your fears
You stand on the lawn and wait for the sight
of the corpse that only appears
on Halloween night
This corpse she comes from deep inside
this house where real demons reside
She wears the finest wedding gown
looking for the man who let her drown.
She is soaking wet with anger in her eyes
You stare in awe knowing it will all sound like lies
She runs past you as you scream
She's out for revenge this Halloween.
@novrain62
Haunted House
All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses. Through the open doors
The harmless phantoms on their errands glide,
With feet that make no sound upon the floors.
We meet them at the door-way, on the stair,
Along the passages they come and go,
Impalpable impressions on the air,
A sense of something moving to and fro.
There are more guests at table than the hosts
Invited; the illuminated hall
Is thronged with quiet, inoffensive ghosts,
As silent as the pictures on the wall.
The stranger at my fireside cannot see
The forms I see, nor hear the sounds I hear;
He but perceives what is; while unto me
All that has been is visible and clear.
@novrain62 I'm in!
Entry:
The Toymaker
He silently stalks the fields, gliding through moor and glen,
Woe betide those who meet him, for then
He pounces and gives his gift - a crushing embrace of death,
Apathetically watching as life fades with one last breath.
What remains is his trophy - an empty, frozen shell,
Readily claimed and eagerly consigned to eternal hell.
Flesh dissected, soul devoured, disappearing without a trace,
They're doomed all the same, regardless of gender, age or race.
Condemned to join the ranks of souls distorted into mere playthings,
A cadaveric puppet, jerked around by tendons transfigured to string.
Dancing eternally to his whim, part of an infinite parade,
A torment none are freed from, unchanged by pleas or blade.
However, do not fear, for the Toymaker only roams on Halloween,
Though he prowls and hunts throughout, he slumbers in between.
He's never seen at day, for fear of the scalding sunlight,
So don't wander on All Hallow's Eve, lest you be taken in the night.
@novrain62
ill omen
yesterday i followed a little black cat
for when she cut across my usual path
it became cursed!(everyone knows that)
couldn't go forward, had to go back.
my patient trailblazer did not seem to mind
a travel companion following behind
her delicate steps, her head raised as high
as any pathfinder, human or feline.
she strode off the sidewalk: cat's eyes can see
a whole map of roads in red piles of leaves
through backyards and laneways and one long alley
we followed a route invisible to me.
at the end of the alley she shot out of sight
(and i shot up too, expecting a fright)
but she reappeared, eyes shining bright,
with a new mewly kitten held safe in her bite!
(i got scared by some of the other poems and wrote this for warm fuzzies 😸 great work everyone! )
