Willow Step let out a small laugh and turned her attention back to Slate Bird and the pups. ``I want to see you and the pups everyday to make sure they're healthy, and that you have enough milk to feed them.`` Slate Bird nodded.``Can we move them tomorrow?````Sure. If that's what you want.``

Willow Step padded over to a bed of moss in the middle of the den, where she could reach both wolves if she needed. ``Wake me if you need anything,`` she curled up and quickly fell asleep.

Slate Bird curled her lip. ``If you're going to be like that, stay away from my pups.`` she set her head down beside her pups and she brought her tail closer to them, to assure they were warm while she slept.

The rest of the Pack came back from the burial. Swooping Owl glanced around, then saw Slate Bird in the healer's den with pups. He gasped and thumped his tail against the ground.

Swooping Owl slipped into the healer's den and nuzzled Slate Bird. She didn't stir, but her tail seemed to move in response. The newborn pups had fallen asleep, dozing silently. Swooping Owl smiled gently and left.

Slate Bird and Willow Step were already awake, and Swooping Owl was in the den, sitting beside Slate Bird and the newborns. Willow Step was carefully prodding them with her nose, checking to make sure they were in perfect condition to move.``Are they okay?`` Slate Bird asked impatiently.``They're doing just great, Slate Bird. Do you want to move them now?`` Slate Bird nodded and slowly stood up, stretching. Her mate rose and grabbed the he-pup gently by the scruff. Slate Bird lifted the two she-pups lightly and Willow Step turned to Gentle Breeze as they left for the pups' den.``You're awake! Good. I checked your injuries when I woke up, and I think it's time we started training you to get used to them. I can't exactly be sure if they're going to be permanent or not, but just in case, I think it's a good idea to start you on getting used to it.``
