My best guess is it's because I'm fairly certain happiness drops multiple times a day. From memory it takes more than one person to keep the happiness above what it drops per day. I can vaguely remember before I had my LoV, I'd need a day in Tim's at least once a week to boost my pets out of the red, despite feeding daily myself. This was back before the leaf and the XC were things and I avoided the forums, so was nearly solely responsible for the survival of my eggs. No idea on the actual stats and numbers though.

So basically, the natural drop is counteracting the feeding happening.

But every little bit helps. Even if it stays on near death, once a creature reaches that sweet level 20, it's forever safe. Thank you for helping.
