We are excited to introduce a brand-new icon to creature profiles: the CDWC Winner mark. This was graciously suggested to us by @prairieโthank you! This mark will be applied to all future creatures when the author of the winning CDWC entry receives the first creature of the species kind.
The CDWC Winner mark has been applied to 71 CDWC creatures around Egg Cave.
This brings up an obvious question of... how is the CDWC Winner mark being applied retroactively? What if the original author of the winning CDWC description no longer has that creature? What if their account no long exists and was closed? What if the originally-given CDWC creature has now died?
There are a lot of different scenarios and we've chosen two of the most sensible ones. We know that it's not 100% perfect, but none of the scenarios are.
If the CDWC winner for that species is in possession of that species, the CDWC Mark has been applied to the lowest ID creature in your Cove automatically.
Pretty straightforward. If you won and have the species, you've received the mark on the creature. It's yours and you deserve it without confusion.
If the CDWC winner is not in possession of the species that they wrote for, the CDWC Mark has been applied to the lowest ID creature on the entire site, regardless of who its owner is. In this scenario, a person who didn't write the winning entry is now in possession of a CDWC Mark creature.
We understand that this is the less-fair of the two scenarios. Because of this, we are accepting appeals for the CDWC Winner mark if you're indeed the author of the winning entry. Just submit a ticket from the account you won from and we'll take a look at your individual case.
We know that, occasionally, we forgot to reward CDWC winners their first creature and expect several appeals here. (You all had to poke us mods to reward the correct creature, which may not have been the lowest ID on the site.) Please file yours and submit a ticket if that's you.

@lucas a Creator's Mark icon for creature profiles is currently in the works as well, courtesy of @prairie! Creator's Mark creatures are slightly more difficult to find, as we didn't track those species by user ID but by username. So we have to cross-ref with username changes

Oh this is an interesting idea! I really love it don't really understand the concept for why that particular Icon was chosen but overall I love this new concept and for the ones thst will have a Creator mark too. Gives a new kind of "rarity" or "specialness" to our creatures โกโกโก

@Ian what about users who have their critters stored on side accounts? I'm thinking of the creators mark. Two of my suggestions are on my sides and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I like the idea by the way. ๐
