Not gonna lie I'm a bit disappointed it's not some special/celebration creature, like there is for EC's birthday. I was hoping the 1000th creature would be super special and elaborate! It is nice to have a new cave common to collect though, and I like the artwork.

@pet_cemetery It might be similar to the Items Database where it doesn't show until the first one is gotten by someone. Based on the 'no creature here' page, no one has one yet.

@mightyeglantine Oohh I was thinking lizard, but yeah especially the 3rd-stage looks pretty 'Axolotl-esque'.

@heatherm19 The last stage definitely looks very lizard like, though it could still be Axolotl-esque because despite their neotenic features, Axolotls can be forced to metamorphize through hormonal changes or stress! They look like any other salamander when they fully morph too!

@mightyeglantine Don't most salamanders have an axolotl-like infant stage where they can't leave water, similar to frog having a tadpole stage? If I remember right, axolotl are just weird because they never grow up and lead that stage.

It might be a spotted salamander, since they have dark colored body with bright yellow spots. From the pictures it looks like it's nymph stage starts out with no legs and gills. It grows legs and loses the gills

@pet_cemetery @mightyeglantine @heatherm19 It actually reminds me of an alpine newt! Just mines the external gills on the last stage. Adult newts don't have external gills anymore.

Liking the axolotl art! And the 1-2-3 clicks evolution is interesting. I too am a little disappointed this isn't a huge celebration creature with "1000" written on its side or tail or something, but I like it.

I'm a bit disappointed that cave attempts weren't reset after it was realized that the creature hadn't been released in the cave. I'm sure a lot of us rushed to the cave trying to get a release day one as soon as we saw the blog post, when it wasn't even possible to get it ☹️

@ian Was the 1-2-3 clicks evolution intentional? Besides the Jester, an April Fool's creature from years back, I don't think I've ever seen a creature evolve so fast.

Oh cool. I kinda agree with others. For such a large milestone something a little more special.. or even done in a special way might have been nice. But this is cool I guess. Happy 1000.

The 1-2-3 evolution is a bit frustrating in my opininion. I love the creature's design, but I also don't like my creatures evolving too fast. And this seems like way too fast for me personally.

I feel like everyone has a fully evolved one now. I'm surprised no mods have addressed whether or not the evolution points are correct or incorrect, or commented any thoughts on it at all.
