Margot frowned. Cody seemed good-natured enough, but that sounded like a ploy to get her to call out her Pokemon first. In an instant, however, her smile was back; the cameras were on her, and half the battle was about image. "All right then. Kindle, let's go!" Margot tossed her first Pokeball out into the arena, calling out her first Pokemon.

Chandelure appeared with a flash of light, cloaked in purple ghost flame. With a dainty spin, the fire flowed off her, billowing out into the air and twinkling as it vanished. "Chanduuul!" she sang, the column of flame above her head growing before shrinking down to its original size.

Margot couldn't help but smile. "Show-off," she murmured.

Margot struggled to keep up her positive facade. The fact that he'd sent out a dark type had, in her mind, confirmed her suspicion--and she wasn't allowed to switch out. Murmuring something nasty under her breath with the assured smile still plastered to her face, she pointed at the umbreon out on the field. "Curse," she commanded, her voice steady, tone almost pleasant.

"Luuu," Chandelure sang, swishing her arms as a thick screen of ghost fire collected around her again. The flames on her arms and head dulled as the HP was sapped from her, but she still sang merrily, yellow eyes shut. Suddenly, the sheen of fire disappeared from her, now completely surrounding Umbreon.

Margot was not happy with the start to the battle; she'd just sacrificed half her first Pokemon's hit points, after all. But this would ensure that in four turns, whether they hit Umbreon or not, it would go down.

Garett groaned. Of course he would have an Ice-type! Dragon-types were rather common in the League-- Anyone who had a Dragon-type usually used it, as a Dratini, Gible, Bagon, or any others.

"Garchomp!" The Pokemon smirked, her navy-blue scales glistening in the sun. "Use number one on Weavile, and be sure to do it like we've trained!"

"Gar!" The dragon-type darted forward, letting out a violent Dragon Rush at the other trainer's Weavile.

Cloud prepared herself backstage, setting her black fedora in place and making final adjustments to her frame-fitting, black and white dress. Elegant lace drifted off the hem of the dress like lonesome strands of silk spiderweb. She tied her midnight-black hair in a neat ponytail, twirling in the light lit mirror in front of her. Dusting herself off, she waltzed on stage.

"Welcome Trainers to the Annual Mistletoe Tournament, Coordinating section! I'm your host, Kumo Cloud Kimura, daughter of Murasaki Kimura."

Cloud introduced herself with a sly wink to the audience, receiving a jovial roar in response. Energy coursed through the excited audience, a convivial atmosphere creating sparks in the air as audience members eagerly awaited the show.

"Let's get ready to introduce our contestants! First off..."

Kumo started, pulling out a cue card.

Cody's eyes widened seeing that Umbreon had already been cursed so early on.
"Umbre-"Umbreon winced as the curse hit him.
Cody defenitley knew he had to get rid of this Chandelure and fast.
"Umbreon use dig!"
Umbreon burrowed his way underground,
Right underneath the Chandelure and made a suprising attack from underneath that seemed slightly weakened from being cursed.

"Up and up!" Margot commanded as soon as she saw the Umbreon disappear beneath the earth. Chandelure twirled higher above the ground until she floated above both trainer's heads, looking down at the arena. 'All we have to do is bide our time,' she thought to herself, hoping that Chandelure was high enough to avoid any truly brutal Dig attack from the Umbreon. Just as the thought crossed her mind, the Pokemon emerged from the ground. Kindle stretched the last bit upward, avoiding most of the hit. She took a swipe to the lower region, but the Umbreon didn't look like it was feeling top notch--that was good--and she looked like she'd be fine. "Flame burst!" Margot ordered, flicking her hand in a downward gesture. Fire erupted from the arms and head of the Chandelure, shooting out in a ring around her. Margot was fairly sure the Umbreon was quick enough on its feet to dodge, but it would put some distance between the two of them--after that Dig attack, it was most probably that Umbreon was using physical moves.

Im going some attacks that don't use direct contact but...what's the point of that?!
"Ok Umbreon,Collide with the Flame burst!"Cody shouted
Umbreon gave Cody the 'are you that delusional?!' type of look ,but obeyed orders
"Umbreon!"Umbreon cried in pain while jumping up higher through the swirling flames.
"Now Umbreon use Payback!"
"Umbreee!"Umbreon shouted the pokemons body glowed with a darkness around him showing signs of the dark gem.
"Umbreon!"Umbreon shouted while colliding with Chandelier Pokemon.

Crystal watched the battle from the stands, rai-Rai still by her side, cheering on, but not for any particular side.
She nodded as a good move was thrown every now and then, and clapped when an excellent move was made, but her mind was elsewhere.

Margot gritted her teeth; there wasn't much she could do about that Payback attack now. But it was now the end of two turns, she calculated, and Umbreon had just completely absorbed that Flame Burst . . . one more hit (or one more move they could dodge) would hopefully mean the end of it. "Come on, Kindle," she urged, staring meaningfully at her Pokemon. "We just need a little more time . . . "

The Chandelure spun out as the Umbreon collided with her, shooting across the arena before managing to still herself. "Delure," she cooed, turning to stare at the Umbreon. Kindle was never one to get worked up; her look meant "That was not nice," if anything.

Margot breathed a sigh of relief. "Confuse Ray, now!"

Still looking straight at the Umbreon, Kindle shot out a multi-colored ray of light.

"Oh Arceus,now what!?"Cody sighed looking at his confused pokemon.
Umbreon couldn't hold out for much longer, his hp was slowly being drained.
"Umbreon try to focus!Use moonlight and ability combo!"
"Umbreee..."Umbreon tried to come to a stop ,as the silver light glinted around his body slowly about an eighth of his hp and his burn was healed
"Umbreon!"Umbreon cried weakly still taking damage from curse.

Margot sighed; apparently that Flame Burst hadn't done as much damage as she thought it had. "I knew I should have given her Flamethrower," she muttered, watching to make sure the Umbreon wasn't launching an attack along with its HP recovery. When the coast seemed clear, Margot stepped forward--more for emphasis than anything--and declared, "Finish him! Flame Burst!"

Kindle took a bit more time to prepare the attack; her low HP was starting to take its toll. Still, she gathered the flames about her and then expelled them, shooting the majority at the Umbreon.

"And if this doesn't do it," Margot added, not just to herself this time, "Curse will." It was a shame Kindle hadn't been able to dodge that Payback--she'd have to modify her strategy for the next Pokemon Cody sent out. Somehow, she felt like this was going to garner more boos from the crowd . . .

"Dodge it Umbreon!" Cody shouted, Cody knew he couldn't win this round his best chance was to try and tie it.
"Umbreon!" Umbreon cried in pain by being slightly hit by the Flame burst once again. The last thing Umbreon needed was another status problem.
"Umbreon use Payback once more!"Cody yelled
"Umbreee..."Umbreon sighed rushing toward Chandelure with the last of his energy and using one final attack.

Margot clenched her teeth as the Umbreon refused to go down; this thing had to have a rock-solid special defense. "Flame Burst; try and hit it back!" she yelled.

Previously, Umbreon seemed to be able to jump through the barrage of ghost-fire. Margot had no idea whether such a move would be able to physically knock it back, but if it could mean Kindle surviving to face the next Pokemon, it was worth a shot.

With an alarmed, almost reflexive motion, Kindle lashed a column of purple fire down at the Umbreon.

Margot watched with clenched fists as the two Pokemon made contact. At the last minute, the Umbreon seemed to fire a Shadow Ball--an odd decision, she thought, since it wasn't likely to change the outcome of things.

The Flame Burst deflected the Shadow Ball, hitting it away like a baseball to a bat. It didn't, however, block the physical Payback move. The Umbreon was able to smash into Chandelure, sending her crashing to the ground. "Kindle!" Margot shouted, leaning forward to see better through the cloud of dust that had accumulated.

The Chandelure quivered for a moment, flames rising, and then collapsed, flames snuffing out. Margot sighed deeply--the first match-up would end in a stalemate. 'Note to self,' she thought darkly. 'Special moves deflect special moves. Physical moves should deflect physical moves.'

"Umbreon!Umbre-"Umbreon barked successfully only to be cut of by curse taking it's final toll.
"You did great Umbreon,take a rest."Cody sighed contently.

"Ok lets go Metagross!"Cody called sending his second pokemon out.

With a rather upset sigh, Margot called back her Pokemon. "Thanks," she murmured softly to the fainted Pokemon. "The odds were really against you on that one." She quickly tucked the Pokeball back within her belt and selected the next one, gripping it tightly. 'If that's how you want to play,' she thought, flashing a confident smile for the cameras, 'then that's how we'll play.' "All right, Ramses! Show 'em how it's done!"

The canine Pokemon appeared in a flash of red light, baring his teeth at the massive steel-type in front of him. He lashed his tail once and shifted his body closer to the ground, ready to charge.

Margot noticed a cheer from the crowd at the appearance of her Houndoom. They must have recognized Ramses as her signature Pokemon; after all, she'd used him first round and in one of the intermediate rounds. Then again, she'd also used Digit more than once--maybe it was more than that? How odd, she thought, that the crowd would take to the same Pokemon her colleagues in Team Rocket had recognized as her signature. "Flamethrower!" she commanded, staring directly forward at Cody.

The Houndoom tipped his head and opened his jaws to reveal the mass of fire gathering in the back of his throat; then, he snapped his head forward, unleashing the stream of fire at the Metagross.

Cody smiled,"Flamethrower huh?ok Metagross let's send that right back at them!Use Psychic!" Cody commanded seeing his pokemon taking some damage from the Flamethrower,thankfully his Metagross was very well trained and his tank like build gave him god like defense although his speed suffered,Cody also knew from past battles Houndoom's defense was a major weak spot,like he always said a good defense is a great offense!"

"Meta."Metagross' eyes began to glow while the furious flamethrower was slowly being start to creep away from Metagross and with one finally cry from Metagross,the flames made a u-turn and zipped back crashing toward the Houndoom, although fire wasn't Cody's first choice in attack it could inflict some damage.
