Ceren nodded an affirmative. "Good," he said. A smile darted across his face as the rider and dragon began to speak nearly on top of each other. He and Kvaya had experienced such episodes, and they always left him chuckling.

"Contact us when they arrive," Kvaya told Niamh, spreading her wings for another takeoff. "And please, stay by the docks." With that, she bounded forward, and launched into the air with a smooth stroke of her wings.

"Eragon-ebrithil!" Ceren called out with his mind. He was careful to keep separated, and not intrude upon his conversation with Queen Arya. "There is merely one rider and dragon unaccounted for, and we are on our way to find them." Kvaya climbed higher, drumming her wings rhythmically against the air. She and Ceren stared down into the land of Surda, looking for a glimpse of the girl and her dragon hatchling near the clearing he last saw her in. Kvaya was quick to spot two figures; one appeared to be the girl's, and another was unfamiliar.

Silently, they began a spiraling descent into the clearing.

Hold up, I just noticed something. Sylvia is the daughter of Galbatorix. It says in Joseph's description that he's the son of Galbatorix. Isn't that a little, ah . . . weird?

Ceren leaped off his dragon before she even landed. He rolled to absorb the shock of his landing and swiftly ran the last few steps over to Sylvia. The human boy she was embracing was, he guessed, the same boy he'd heard earlier. "Who is this?" Ceren asked coolly. His eyes narrowed just slightly at the corners, near his temples. The boy's general aura reeked of dark intentions.

"A friend," Ceren repeated. Despite his suspicions, a grin spread over his face. Of course, he of all people was not one to judge--it was the flustered look on her face, rather than the situation itself, that amused him. In the background, Kvaya rolled her eyes. She then spotted the a red dragon nearby, presumably the dragon of the boy. It was far too large to be a hatchling. She drew Ceren's attention to it, and the smile promptly fell from his face. This boy was not a new rider, and he had not come back to Alagaesia with the couriers by boat. He was a rogue, and rogues were very dangerous. "Sylvia," he said, suddenly quite serious. "We must be leaving now."

@bunnyshadow I've been roleplaying on and off for years. XD I've had waaay too many characters to keep track of.

Ceren's gaze lingered on Joseph for a long moment. As he was potentially dangerous, Ceren was hesitant to turn his back on the boy. However, he seemed to care for Sylvia, and if he was the least bit intelligent, he would know that Kvaya was by far the larger and stronger of the two dragons. His chances of success, if it came down to a fight, were quite slim. "Do not forget Zaylia," he murmured softly at her, before turning and walking to Kvaya. He stood by the side of the silver dragon, waiting for Sylvia to climb up before he did.

Ceren gestured for Sylvia to climb into Kvaya's saddle. With riders as foster parents, he imagined she had flown before. Still, just to be sure, he and Kvaya agreed that a gentle takeoff would be best. Ceren sensed that Sylvia wasn't particularly pleased with the situation, and she had quite good reason. A flight back to the city, however short it was, would provide him with an excellent opportunity to ask his questions.

Sylvia sat in Kvaya's saddle with a small frown on her face, but she quickly made it disapear inreplacemet of a contet look. Zaylia nosed around.

Ceren swung into the saddle behind Sylvia. After making sure she was seated steadily, he expressed to Kvaya that they were ready for take-off. Rather than her usual single bound, Kvaya began at a light trot before increasing her speed and then jumping nimbly into the air. With a few strokes of her wings, they were soaring up above the trees, and climbing higher still.

"I think we need to talk," Ceren said simply, staring into the back of Sylvia's head.

"Your parents told me what they know, which is admittedly very little," he began. His tone was level and warm, nearly pleasant. "They advised me to ask you personally." Kvaya stayed quiet, though she and Ceren actively discussed in private what it was he would say.

Ceren could practically see the anxiety flowing off Sylvia. Her posture and twitchy behavior were beginning to make him feel uneasy about what was to be said. "So, if there is anything you would like me to know before your mind is searched, now would be an appropriate time to tell me." Kvaya glided lazily on an updraft, allowing them the time they needed to speak. Her keen eyes could distinguish the gathering of dragons and riders down by the dock. Eragon and Saphira had not yet joined the group, it seemed.

Ceren shook his head, despite her not being able to see him. "I am afraid you have no choice in the matter. All new riders are subjected to searches before they are taken to Du Fells Skulblaka; it is to discourage threats to the dragons and eggs." They glided on in silence for a moment. Ceren watched their shadow swim over the canopy of the forest. "So, then, is there anything you would prefer I learn now?"

"That may be the case," Ceren responded, his voice taking on the pleasant tone again. "But keeping secrets will do you no good in the long run." He and Kvaya were almost completely convinced, due to her earlier questioning, that she was a direct descendent of Galbatorix. Still, Ceren found that he could not be sure until he heard it from the mouth of the girl herself.
