Fear dove through the ripped barrier , his tail spikes making a bigger rip. Fear landed over Ceren, his forked tongue slipping out of his mouth and started brrathing in Ceren's face. He was alive, but not for long. Kyle leaned over Fear's spiked head ane stabbd downward with his black blade.

Sylvia jumped off of Crimson and into the barrier, landng on the ground with a soft thud, she spotted Kyle ready to stab Ceren, and said,{It's fine, I'll deal with him} Sylvia said, knocking the sword away. Sylvia leaned down and looked at Ceren's face after Fear flew away with Kyle, taking his sword with him. "Are you ok?"

Ceren did not stir, even as the dark purple dragon landed over him. His chest quivered slowly up and down, steadily but weakly filling and emptying. The young elf was deeply, absolutely unconscious.

Kvaya screamed, an ear-splitting cry that was half between a snarl and a roar. Her white teeth flashed menacingly as she lunged forward, snapping viciously at Fear's neck. There was no way she would allow either of them to harm her rider; she was bigger, faster, better-trained. She would shred them and then burn them before she allowed them to lay a finger on her soul partner. She managed to pull away, however, as the human girl stepped between the evil boy and her rider, her teeth clashing together frighteningly loudly. The silver dragon moved so that she stood directly in between Sylvia and Ceren, her stormy eyes following Fear and Kyle as they flew away. "What did you do?" Kvaya snarled at Sylvia, baring her teeth once more. She seemed all but ready to take the girl's head off; the imminent threat to her rider had shattered the dragon's peaceful disposition. A flash of images of the barrier breaking followed the words, clarifying the meaning of her question.

Sylvia looked up at Kvaya. "I told them to leave Ceren alone.", Sylvia said simply. Zaylia seemed to have grown larger these past few days, and stronger with all this commotion, Sylvia's wings were larger, and Zaylia was able to breathe small breathes of dark colored flame. The dragon could now fly, but she wasn't large enough to carry anyhting or anyone. SYlvia continued staring into Kvaya's snarling figure. "Go ahead, harm me if you wish.", SYlvia said quietly.

@bunnyshadow Dragons can't breathe fire until six months. They also can't fly for a few weeks. I'm just going by the books.
@hedwig68 Are you still playing Eragon?

"I ought to tear your traitorous heart from your chest," Kvaya growled, a deep sound rising from her throat. She bitterly lashed her tail from side to side. "Who amongst you has that kind of power?"

From the deck of the next boat, Kvaya heard a scream. The young rider had collapsed to the floor with fear, and jabbered incoherently as she pointed past the dock. The girl's dragon, a stocky brown hatchling, had hid beneath her. Kvaya's head snapped to the side, following where the girl was pointing. Her eyes filled with fear.

Standing far away, at the edge of a line of houses, was a lone woman. She was impossibly tall, taller than even an elf, with ghostly white skin. A curtain of long, blood red hair flowed gently in the breeze, and even from a distance, her piercing red eyes glinted. The woman held nothing in her hands, and moved not from her spot.

"A shade!" another rider screamed. Panic erupted on the deck of the boat.

Sylvia shrugged, and the answer to Kvaya's question came from the mouth of a screaming rider. Sylvia looked up to see a female shade standing alone, and Sylvia stared at the shade, with her mesmerizing purple eyes.

The woman's head snapped to the side as the girl's scream rang out. Her red eyes, nearly glowing in the light of the evening, seemed to flash with disapproval, or perhaps irritation. The rest of her face did not change. She gently flicked two fingers of her left hand to the side.

The female rider's neck snapped with a sickening crack.

Another wave of horror ran over the ship, as riders and dragons scrambled over one another to hide. Even Kvaya, in her warlike state, had no desire to fight. She bounded down the length of the ship, snarling at its captains to get them moving immediately.

The sails were loosed, and the ship began to move slowly from the dock. The woman began to walk, her long legs carrying her dangerously quickly. She was too far away to be heard, though her lips could be seen moving.

The sails of the boat erupted into flames with a roar.

Sylvia shrugged as a rider's neck snapped and the sails caught fire. As the shade strode closer, Sylvia felt compelled to move, but also... Didn't want to.

@bunnyshadow Ceren and Kvaya are mad at her because she can't promise not to kill innocent people. XD They're very self righteous. Inilyn has no friends, so don't feel like you're being singled out. She hates everyone equally. I could make another character, but I don't have anybody in mind. X3

"Saphira!" Kvaya called out with her mind. "Saphira, Eragon, help!" Though she'd never before encountered a Shade, she'd heard legends. They were tall, ghostly beings, with more powerful magic than the elves or the dragons. Dark magic was their essence, and they left rivers of blood in their wake. Only four beings in the history of Alagaesia had succeeded in killing a Shade; one of them was Eragon Bromsson, who had not yet made a single move. Kvaya was filled with rage, but also with fear.

The elven captains of the ship cried out as its sails were destroyed. Using magic, they began to propel it forward through the waters.

Palm flat in a "stop" gesture, the woman extended her left hand.

The ship groaned with the sound of strained wood, and panic flashed through the captains' eyes. She had not directly combated their spell, as they'd imagined she would; instead, she'd pulled at the back of the ship, attempting to tear it in half. They relinquished their spell, watching with horror as the ship drifted back to the docks.

@bunnyshadow I don't think you should make a shade dragon. X3 Shades are extremely powerful characters, and one is more than enough. Besides, you already have an evil character.

The woman's eyes snapped up to Eragon and Saphira with unnatural speed and focus. "Letta,*" she said conversationally, staring at the rider and dragon head on. Her voice was soft in tone, neither harsh nor pleasing. It seemed hollow of all emotion, as if the thinker and the speaker were detached from each other.

The boat collided with the dock. The dock broke first, in a cacophony of shattering boards. It failed to stop the advance of the boat, which then collided with the landing. A miserable crack erupted from the side of the boat, enough to make Kvaya's heart sink. The vessel began to tilt, and water climbed up its fallen side.

"Hey.", Sylvia said to Ceren as Kvaya was distracted. "Wake up. In case you didn't know, there's a shade causing destruction...", Sylvia continued, and slapped Ceren. People stared at Sylvia like,"What the heck, did that girl just slap an elf?!?"

@bunnyshadow Nah, they just have to repair the ship and get moving again. The shade will let them go this time. X3 But the characters don't know that. And I'd prefer her not to, but if you desperately want to, you can.

Ceren remained motionless on the deck of the ship. At the sound of the slap, Kvaya whirled around and began to growl viciously. She rapidly stalked down the length of the boat, glaring at Sylvia. "Begone," she snarled, before wincing as the boat groaned once more. Water began to fill the deck, currently just shallow enough to wet her claws.

Sylvia seems to have trouble grasping the meaning of "unconscious." XD And Kvaya is in war mode.

Everyone backed away veeeery slowly before resuming their duties at repairing the ship. "Would you rather me go to the shade?", Sylvia asked.

The shade stared at Eragon and Saphira for a long moment, her crimson eyes glittering. Her expression was unreadable. Wordlessly, she flicked her hand to the side, throwing the dragon and rider aside with an unspoken spell.

While the shade was distracted, the elven captains of the ship had managed to repair it using a series of spells. The boat was now moving away from the dock, faster this time, propelled by magic rather than its sails. A few of the older riders used spells to guide the water off the deck.

Even with his face partially submerged, Ceren did not budge. Kvaya shifted her talons against the deck, her nose crinkled with worry.

Sylvia slapped Ceren again, holding in a giggle. What kind of elf doesn't wake up, even with their fce half submerged in water?

Kyle flew overhead, above the shade, and nodded with approval as Eragon and Saphira crashed towarfs the ground, before Fear flew away.

Saphira felt a huge wall of power slam into her side, and she flew through the air, strsight towards the ship, with Eragon holding on, before both rider and dragon splashed into the water. The shade seemed to have stopped the magic as soon as they reached the water and saphira picked Eragon up from underwater , befote landing in the deck of the ship, dropping Eragon next to ceren. Eragon passed out.

Would you like to "fast-forward" to when they arrive at the island? Not that drifting on the ocean for days/weeks/months isn't fun . . . X3

Sylvia looked at Eragon, then at Ceren , next at saphira before looking at Kvaya, then looked up at the sky, wondering when the next persons gonna fall down and pass out. O_o
"You know what Kvaya? If I was the enemy, ceren would be in a pool of blood, not a pool of water."

Kvaya's body tensed at the word "Shade." She lowered her wing over her rider protectively, gazing out at the shore. The ghostly red and white figure of the women remained on the dock, standing as still as a statue--not moving, not blinking, not even breathing. "The Shade is allied with the rogue riders?" Kvaya demanded. If that was the case, then a repetition of the empire of Galbatorix was entirely possible. She did not even want to think of what it meant if the Shade had no alliance. "He will wake up in time," she growled protectively. "He needs to rest."

Andrew was in a daze, everything was happening too fast. He held onto Niamh as she gave energy to the quickly tiring magicians and Riders. Niamh and Andrew had a lot of energy as they had multiple items that contained such as well as reserved power for immediate problems like this.

Captain, please set up orders to have everyone propel this boat until we see the land no more, then we will go on shifts and use all power on boat to highest it can go without anyone fainting. Captain Yellowbeard growled something to himself, but he shortly answered Niamh's question and immediately turned and called out orders to his crew, who quickly reined in the burnt sails and replaced them as well as repair the simple broken boards at the back of the boat that the magicians didn't need to waste energy on.
