Ceren waved the new riders and dragons into their living quarters, counting each pair as they entered the main chamber. After the last one slipped past him and down the hall, he frowned; they were short. Two new dragons and one rider had failed to make it back. It took Ceren less than a second to figure out which.

With a disgruntled sigh, he swung back upon Kvaya, rapidly taking off from the stone ledge. They coasted above the forest, extending their minds down into the trees to search for a rather familiar pair.

Rather close to the beach that they had arrived upon, the silver dragon and elf descended into the forest, landing in a small clearing. There lay Sylvia, who reeked the sweet perfume of elven alcohol, her dragon, and little Firan. The sight immediately brought a frown to his face, if for no other reason than Eragon and Saphira's disapproval.

"Sylvia," he said in a rather flat tone. Ordinarily he'd be amused by all of this, but the days had lately been long, and he was becoming tired.

Despite Ceren's previous commitment to a serious attitude, the words out of Sylvia's mouth caused a smile to creep to his face. He quickly banished it, the corners of his mouth quivering for a moment before remaining still. He could feel Kvaya's disapproval burning through their link. "Sorry!" he spared her, feeling a cheeky grin beginning to bubble up.

"No," he said, his voice steady despite the laughter in his eyes. "No," he repeated once more. "Do you know who this is?" Better to assess exactly how far gone she was before he attempted to do anything . . .

A confused look came over Ceren's face. Did she just mistake him for her father? "No," he said again, taking a step closer. He motioned to Firan, who was scampering about, to come near to him. "It's Ceren. Your flight instructor."

She was completely intoxicated, the young elf realized with another repressed smile. He had no idea how she'd managed to acquire the liquor, but was almost impressed. With a slight sigh, he hesitated, wondering whether it would be easier to carry her back while she was inebriated. If she was sober, she was more likely to put up a fight, if an earlier incident was any indication.

Eragon greeted them with a feast ready.

Saria looked around the hall amazed by the hall and the food.

She mumured to herself before entering the library. many people may not know it, but she was really into romance novels, despite her rough and tumble exterior. She walked the rows, looking for her favorite series.

@bunnyshadow They have the same name, and he doesn't know that she and Kyle the elf are acquainted. XD He's going to guess the one she's more likely to know. I know which one you're talking about, but I'm not my characters.
@fireclaw Series weren't a big thing back then. ^^; You're more likely to find poetry. The elves have a lot of that.

Ceren's eyebrows lifted higher at Sylvia's next comment. It seemed she wasn't talking about her father--and the only other Kyle he knew of was the rogue elf. "We don't look anything alike," he replied, an amused smile crawling onto his face despite his best efforts. "Can't you at least tell by my hair?"

"Stop toying with her," Kvaya growled to him mentally. "She needs to be taken back to the city with the rest of the new riders. Instruction begins early tomorrow morning, and she's going to miss the tour." The silver dragon lashed her tail in agitation.

Ceren glanced over his shoulder at the dragon, sparing her a genuinely sweet smile. "It's all right," he said mentally (so to not confuse Sylvia any further). "Come on," he then said to her, holding out his arm for her to take. "We have to go."

Sylvia looked up at Ceren with a confused look, before taking his arm and pulling herself up. She stood for a few seconds on wobbly feet, then fell down again, and started rubbing her head. "Everything's moving around..."
