Sylvia knew she was treading on thin ice but couldnt stop asking one more question. "But what if he does has already hatched an dragon and has interests in ruling Alagasia?", Sylvia asked. She watched as Zaylia consumed a rabbit.

Zaylia was getting bored. There were few dragons to talk to so Zaylia stepped towards Ceren's dragon, sniffing her paws.

@bunnyshadow - who are you currently talking to? Ceren?

Ceren's eyes fell to the bronze dragon, and for a moment he was quiet. The color of her scales managed to trigger a memory; four years prior, he had overseen the hatching of a dragon to the humans, and spotted her nearby. The two had but briefly exchanged words, but they had certainly encountered one another. "So we do!" he exclaimed with a merry clap of his hands. "And you have only grown lovelier, Evarina Brightscales."

"Don't fall for his tricks," Kvaya deadpanned.

"But I am in earnest!" Ceren protested immediately. His grin, however, suggested that the comment was meant to flatter her. "I am one of the older riders," he then added. "Kvaya is among the dragons of old. We met a mere two years after the dark king was defeated."

He then turned back to face Sylvia. Despite the rapid shift between conversations, his reply was immediate and concise. "Death or imprisonment." This macabre statement was followed by a debonair flash of teeth.

Sylvia's eyes flickered and she quickly added,"But what if they dont want to rule Alagasia? What if all he did was hatch a dragon?"

Zaylia tsked Sylvia in her mind. {He is getting suspicious, stop with this useless quistioning}

Evarina flashed a toothy grin at Kvaya, knowing Ceren's dragon rather well (is that okay?)
Nehlil smiled at the little exchange of knowledge and she nudged Evarina's flank as she puffed out a breath of smoke dismissively.
She looked up sharply though at the mention of death, "Galbatorix?" she guessed.
Her shock and horror was met with a wave of calm by Evarina
<<Young hatchling, there is nothing that he can do to harm you now that I am here>>
>>Orik said the same thing, but look what happened<<
<<It was NOT Galbatorix who determined whether or not he would commit those actions. His mind was influenced>> Evarina's mind voice was warm and steady in Nehlil's head, and she felt herself calming down.
>>But...<<
<<Shh.. do not argue with me today. Just listen and remember>>
Nehlil stifled a sigh but agreed.,

Amdis was awoken by the smell of smoke. Shadis had set a small bush on fire next to the tree Amdis was resting in. Amdis quickly jumped down from his branch and picked up Shadis. Shades, however, had been sleeping and didn't like the idea of being snatched up off the ground during his slumber too pleasant. Shadis snapped at Amdis, causing him to drop him. Then, Shadis ran off deeper into the forest. Amdis ran after him as fast as he could, but he was no match for the speed of Shadis. (I guess this is how you make it look like your dragon is communicating with you telepathically) <<"You can't catch me silly human," Shadis said playfully. Amdis in exhaustion didn't replay and looked around. "Help! Is anyone here," he yelled. <<"Stop yelling," Shadis said coolly.

@bunnyshadow - I don't know that... she just heard the word Forsworn and that's who she thought of. Apparently I'm making it someone was controlling Galbatorix one day and made him kill her parents. Is that okay? That doesn't really affect the plot that much...
~~~***~~~
Would that be okay with fitting in with your ideas and all?
Ceren's expression remained completely unchanged as he leaned forward, closer to Sylvia's face. "Very close supervision." He allowed the statement to hang in the air for a moment before returning to his original posture.
Kvaya responded to Evarina with a playful roll of her eyes. Even as she did this, however, she and Ceren were agreeing to investigate Sylvia further before she was allowed to leave for the riders' lands. He recalled seeing her with two older humans that seemed to be her parents; they were a good place to start.
"Galbatorix is long dead," he answered Nehlil, his voice reassuring and bright. "There is nothing to fear." He was unaware of exactly what caused her so much alarm, and rather interested to know. However, it was not the way of the elves to ask such a question directly.
@fluffy It's more likely for Galbatorix to command one of the Forsworn to kill her parents. It would be nearly impossible for one of his pawns to control his mind.
Amdis continued to yell for help. Shadis sighed and a puff of black smoke came out. {I'm hungry, we should find something to eat.}(So I would do it the other way for Amdis taking telepathy) }I'm not leaving this spot until I get some help.{
@silver_winged - I was thinking more like another Dragon?
"Don't, I would appreciate you didn't." Nehlil had gotten those looks many times before, and didn't need to go into someone's mind to know what they were thinking.
<<That is a wise choice, she smells of danger>> Evarina rumbled, her bright eyes staring not so discreetly at the other girl.
"And I realized, but there was something about it, that makes me blame him but know that it wasn't really him. I'm not sure though."
Sylvia smiled in return, hoping she wouldnt look very nervous. She looked at Zaylia, and thought she very much looked like Shruikan and shook that thought away. "Would you like to meet my parents?", she said. (a perfect chance to investigate, ezcept i'll make sylvia go somewhere tho.) Zaylia spotted a black hatchling dragon nearby, almost the same as Zaylia and bounded over with an {Hi}
@bunnyshadow @silver_winged - but would it still be okay if it was a dragon that did it, dragons are very powerful.
"Are you speaking to me?" Nehlil asked, stunned. She had never received an invitation like that before, since she was the adopted daughter of Orik and barely ever got out of the Beor mountains.
"It's fine, I figured anyways. Thanks for the "sorta" offer," Nehlil smiled at her and waved her hand. Evarina growled disapprovingly as a thought came up about An Sweldn Rak Anhuin (i think).
Ceren offered Sylvia a look of comical confusion. "Quite off-topic," it seemed to say. However, the look soon vanished, and he nodded once before continuing. "It would be an honor," he replied, turning now to face Nehlil and Evarina. "We will see each other again, I'm sure, but for now I must bid you farewell." He swept into a deep bow, an exaggeration of humility that came off as charming. With a last grin in their direction, he motioned toward the way out of the forest, allowing Sylvia to take the lead.
"I will stay," Kvaya announced, sitting and tucking her tail around her legs. She was not yet done speaking with Evarina or Niamh, and there were many hatchlings about that needed supervision.
"If Nehlil wishes to accompany us," Ceren said innocently, "I am not opposed. Though the decision is ultimately yours."
Sylvia smiled, immediately regretting her offer. What if he found something out? But her parents wouldnt tell would they...? And would Ceren keep it a secret if he knew?!? Sylvia took the lead with Zaylia following close behind, next to Sylvia, Sylvia walked out of the woods and up the driveway of a huge three story mansion, her parents' dragons were flying overhead. She knocked on the door and her mother answered, and hugged Sylvia but then noticed the elf. She smiled warmly and said,"We're honored to see an elf willing to come in our household.", she said. Her father appeared and bowed, leading Ceren to the living room and gestured to a comfortable chair for the elf to sit in, Sylvia's parents sat on the couch and Sylvia sat on a seat not far away. Zaylia walked around and sniffed the ground occasionally.
Evarina waited patiently for a reply... her eyes filled with amusement. Nehlil groaned inwardly, she had heard this one many times before and didn't really understand the dragon's sense of humor.
"A dazzling beauty," Kvaya replied facetiously. In all honesty, she wasn't sure what Evarina was trying to ask. "Why do you ask?"
Ceren walked alongside Sylvia, slowing his pace so that he would not overtake her. It was not long until they emerged from the forest, and approached a small palace that he assumed to be hers.
He met Sylvia's mother with a respectful bow and the traditional elven greeting. "The honor is mine," he insisted as he stepped through the doorway, allowing himself to be lead to a sitting room. After offering the same greeting to the father, Ceren took a seat in his designated chair. "Congratulations," he began, offering a warm smile. His cocky, flighty gestures and mannerisms disappeared as he spoke to them, though the light, sing-song elven accent persisted. "To have your daughter chosen by a dragon must be a great blessing."
Sylvia's mother responded,"It was worth raising her." she said jokingly, Sylvia's father laughed.
Sylvia listened, quietly but was interupted as Zaylia squeled {I want to go outside, it is boring here} Sylvia sighed Nd looked at her parents' eyes hoping they wont give anything away. Sylvia stepped outside the threshold and followed Zaylia bck into the woods.
Andrew sat down in between Kvaya and Niamh, plucking some grass. His slate was in his backpack, and his chalk still behind his ear. Niamh never wore anything, Andrew had his pants strengthened to protect him from Niamh's scales. Even then, he had to get new ones regularly.
Niamh nodded, "It is a shock to us as well. But the *wardens are never big enough for a dragon like Thorn. He is better off in his palace." She said, licking her tongue. "Oh? That is a honour, to be the one who trains flight." She blinked, "Andrew and I are assigned the task of communication & telepathy." She looked at him as she said his name affectionately.
Evarina nuzzled Niamh affectionately as Nehlil sat down next to him.
"Hey," she spoke to him out loud, even though she knew that he would never reply like other people.
<<The dwarves are more fun than you humans, you do not understand the humor of a dragon. Or maybe that's just me>> Evarina spoke and a puff of smoke appeared above her nostrils in a question mark.
Nehlil looked up, surprised, Evarina didn't normally show such a blatant display of magic.
She conveyed her confusion to the golden dragon.
<<Just a spontaneous spurt, something easier than using actual forced dragon magic>>
"Some of us do not need sunlight to have bright scales," Kvaya replied without missing a beat, casting her head to the side in a pompous manner. She meant the statement as a joke, but her sarcasm was perhaps less apparent than it should have been. As Andrew took a seat between her and Niamh, she lowered her head and tousled his hair with a companionable puff of breath from her nostrils.
"It is indeed an honor," she replied to Niamh, her voice colored with pride. "Saphira herself selected us." She shifted her broad silver wings slightly as she reflected on the offer. "Communication and telepathy are also invaluable skills. Will you also be teaching defense of the mind?" There had been recent talk of sorcerers manipulating influential figures; teaching the new riders to guard themselves against such attacks was essential.
Ceren laughed with Sylvia's parents, following Sylvia with his eyes until she exited the room. "May we speak in private?" he then asked them softly. An element of seriousness had crept into his expression.
Andrew reflexively tried to dodge the wind, but unsurprisingly failed, his hair tousled. He smiled at Kvaya, eyes laughing.
Putting the slate and chalk beside Nehlil, he leaned back on his hands.
Niamh's scales moved as she raised her eyebrows. "Wow, that's quite out of the ordinary!" She flicked her tail at an annoying fly. "Yes, if they haven't found another one yet. We've been picked to do this because apparently we naturally have extremely strong bind and mind-shields. I don't know, it doesn't seem that way to us."
Andrew nodded, to emphasize Niamh's last sentence.
Both Sylvia's parents nodded their head. Sylvia's mother left for a few minutes , then led Ceren and the father to the third floor, into a library. Both sat down on comfortable chairs, and another fewchairs and a couch were nearby. "Sit wherever you wish.", Sylvia's father said. "But why do you need to talk privately?", He said, leaning back and crossing his legs. "All the servants and maids should be on the second floor, so their shall be no eavesdropping."
